Yeah I can wait another day, the game doesn't get released on amazon til Friday anyway so no biggie, I would still be able to get the pre ordering bonus goodies but I will wait to see what others say about this game..there is a lot of drama building about this game not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing

Are people seriously disputing what that RaD statement said? The internet absolutely is a perfect hiding hole for bullies and jerks because of anonymity. Glad I've avoided that thread so far...

I think its because people are using the recent completion time and somehow putting all the other shit the Order has gone through over the past year and so and putting them under the banner of "legitimate criticism."

People are willing to acknowledge the truth in that statement until they feel like they may be the "bullies."

Ryse... maybe. I dunno, that game wasn't remotely on my radar. There was a lot of controversy regarding DriveClub, but it never had it this bad. Sunset Overdrive wasn't even close was it? There was that video preview from Videogamer that was less than complimentary and had a lot of people talking, but otherwise there was a generally positive buzz leading up to that game's release.

The past few days for The Order though have just totally fucking eclipsed anything else I've seen on this site. I can't even read it anymore. We've reached boiling point right now and it's going to erupt come tomorrow morning.

At this point the attention seems greater than that on AC and MCC which were both broken. And the latter still isn't fully fixed!

It's staggering.

I think the problem is that there are two categories of people getting upset, 1) people who think they aren't bullies (and they are) and 2) people with legitimate criticisms who feel like they're getting called bullies wrongly. I don't think RaD has a problem with the legitimate criticism group. It stings, but everyone who works creatively wants ideas on how to get better. But there are bullies and there are people who sling mud at RaD and even the entire field of "cinematic" games.

And really, their statement is kinda true. The internet is the home of millions of "keyboard warriors." Jerks who get their jollies on being asses because they don't have to look people in the eye or face repercussions for their actions.

It was very bad for Ryse, perhaps people don't remember as it was over a year ago and condensed into a short time, but every thread for that from reveal to launch were shitty. SO just had some salty people, not a big deal.

Destiny got this bad for sure once the Beta leak happened. Watch dogs as well.

I'm not sure about Ryse. I do remember several QTE fest threads but I don't think any got as big as this.

I think Ryse may have been due more to being an Xbox One launch title primarily, with every other issue being brought up just icing. Console launches are crazy times.

Sunset was nothing. Aside from people getting 'offended' by how self aware and meta it was looking to be and GAF having something against punk looks, no one made noise about it. No idea about DriveClub since I'm not into racing games.

Don't think it's exclusives, not anymore. Maybe when Halo and Uncharted come about we'll start seeing some of that behavior, but both have their own big fan bases to where it won't seem that prevalent.

I would say Destiny and Evolve are recent examples for third party titles. Destiny might have had a lot of people going for it than this, but those threads were shit post and hate central (deserved or otherwise). Evolve after it won the E3 awards the same, though to a smaller scale since most of Gaming GAF doesn't seem to care for online shooters.

David Cage games are also fun times.

Sad truth is that this place isn't that much different from Reddit or even Twitter outside of what are mods do. Going to have the blind defenders and haters. And it gets worse the larger the community grows. And no one cares because as long as someone is still on 'their side' despite what methods they use, people are going to let it happen. Then whine about it when someone calls out the community reaction based on those types of posts.

Its still only February...we still have to get through MGS5, JC3, Batman, etc You can guarantee any minute negative aspect of those games will be blown out of epic proportions here

I want The Order to fail. Yep I said it. I think it's game design serves a niche audience and is taking development dollars away from games that I really would like playing.

I stop reading the order threads because they all end up the same.
Just people fighting each other , the review thread will be crazy.
Not that it matters to me since i will be playing the game , good or bad i bought it for the gfx whore in me .
 
I wonder how much people are going to go nuts in the review thread tomorrow. I wonder how much craziness will be dependent on scores. Are people going to go nuts over scores of 60, 65, 75, 85?

It draws the most comparisons to Heavenly Sword. I've never played it, but I know that at release it was scrutinized for being a story heavy, cinematic, easy to play through game that was short.

That's a pretty fucking dumb stance to take. Games are big enough to support many different genres and designs yet some people are so insistent that the industry only focus on certain ones.
