Kid share plays Destiny to stranger...

Exactly, the minor was deceived into believing a constructed lie by an adult. This shit dont get more sick than that.
If i were Sony and Bungie i would be forwarding emails to the local police department with the identity of this Kermit fella. Just to be safe, we have no idea what this person would do to a minor if he came in physical contact with one. The Police need to pay them a visit and make sure all their bolts are not loose.

An evil man didnt go into the kids house and traumatize him... The kids mom let him play a Teen rated MMO (a genre that is known for trolling) without any parental controls or supervision.. the kid decided to play with fire and got burned.

Using the drug dealer analogy from above, its like the mom dropping the kid off on the corner of Harlem with a $20 bill to get some skittles and the kid gets abducted by a "candytruck"

That's a pretty massive slippery slope that violates his privacy and sends police to his house for no discernable reason.

The point remains, do you want me to edit or re post with more incriminating quotes? I just looked at a few pages, but apparently a good majority here think this nonsense is okay, and in good fun.
I wasn't representing everyone. I'm showing people that this isn't an issue where if you're not with the kid, you're against him and think he deserved it.

I empathize with the kid, I think the guy who did it is a dick, but I think the kid screwed up and does not deserve to have Bungie step in and fix things for him.

The kid wasn't out to harm anyone else. Yes, he trying to do something that was against the law (tos), but that doesn't mean he deserved what he got.

The fact that, in your comparison, you just equated the law with videogame tos says it all right there (ntm character deletion with murder). But by all means, keep up with the hyperbole. It's very entertaining on a slow Friday afternoon.

Felt bad when he started to cry..but he was cheating.

No, he wasn't. He was playing with people who he thought were his friends, they told him they could easily get him from twenty something to thirty. He activated shareplay, had his shit deleted.

Where in the above scenario was he cheating?

This thread makes me sad. I expected there to be more level-minded individuals here. Sometimes I forget what site I'm on.

I understand that there is a lot of people who pander to children, who don't take the time to educate their children, who are downright irresponsible with regards to their children. That is not the central issue here. The central issue is a scumbag who took advantage of a child, much like the human garbage that preys on the elderly.

Regardless of what your opinion is on children today, you as an adult should not take advantage of them.

Show me where I said murder in my comparison. I said shot. I never said the person died. Isn't the tos the law of the game?

I watched cartoon where someone gained super powered by being electrocuted... I guess I should blame the cartoon studio!

Uuuuh, if a kids show had a kid stick a fork into an outlet to become super-powered, you better fucking believe the studio would be hearing from parents.

Please point out what's right with it.

Nothing the child did warranted a loss of items or his account. If he had infringed on any of the games rules then he would have had his account or PSN terminated.

If a man goes to a drug dealer, just because he uses drugs does it warrant the loss of his life if the transaction goes badly?

Loss of Life and Loss of Character data are not on equal playing fields, but in both situations the loss is greater than the crime... hell The child didn't even exploit any glitches to begin with. IF GLITCHES WHERE A REAL OFFENSE THEN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH. But the fact remains that he didn't glitch ANYTHING!

I don't understand why that is so hard to understand. If anything hes guilty of being too trusting or naive, NOT that he deserved deletion of his characters via LIVE STREAM.

There will always be scumbags.... I put blame on the parent who let an 11 year old play a Teen Rated MMO with zero supervision or parental controls in place

When he overcomes this "loss", maybe the kid will realize that virtual accomplishments mean absolutely nothing. And that's the most important lesson here (instead of"don't let strangers play your game" as many said).

Just take the opportunity and be done with the game. Its wasted time anyway. Waste it with new, different and better games.

Oh sorry.

The fact that, in your comparison, you just equated the law with videogame tos says it all right there (ntm character deletion with grievous bodily harm). But by all means, keep up with the hyperbole. It's very entertaining on a slow Friday afternoon.

Better?

Not talking about whether someone deserved anything. Laughing at the hyperbolic comparisons that people are making to actual tragic events ITT. Sorry if that's hard to understand.

Umm pretty much every cartoon from the 90's... you had coyotes dropping anvils on roadrunners and being blown up with TNT. I know a kid who tried to a get a spider to bite him cause thats how Spiderman got his abilities....

I agree with this only if you agree that the perpetrator receives AT LEAST a temporary ban. This probably happens everyday, but for the fact that it was recorded and we have evidence of the action occurring and even a poster on reddit (buzzgoku) admitting action, then BANNINGS SHOULD BE SERVED.

Just like when a kid is groomed over the intenet we shouldn't blame the paedo, but the parent for letting the kid use a computer.

That electric shock really fucked up your brain. You should get yourself checked for any long-term effects.

Wait is the Reddit comments true? Was the kid bugging people to help him glitch the game? If that is true I would not be surprise this was the outcome.

Why? He isn't doing anything wrong. The kid was, that's how his characters got deleted.

Same happened to me once when I was a kid (Runescape lol), it just learned me a lesson. The kid isn't made from porcelain.

I'm not familiar enough with Destiny or Sony's online agreement to take a hardline stance on if this guy should get banned or not.

someday

Banned
The reasonable thing would be this. The 38 year old adult, realizing he's about to do something really shitty to a little kid, instead of the 15+ year old he was expecting, stops what he's doing, acts like an adult and says, "Hey kid, 2 things. Cheating and glitching the game to get ahead is not right, and you could be banned. Also, I'm an almost 40 year old dude and you just gave me access to your console. You're far too trusting. Be more cautious and don't cheat. Next guy might not be so nice."
Seriously. It takes an absolute asshole to do this to a kid (or anybody honestly) and it takes a different kind of asshole to try to justify it. This thread is disgusting. Hell, I didn't even get sad for the kid (ultimately it's just video games) but the grown ass man who did this is just a shit. He didn't do it to "teach the kid a lesson." He did it because he's a fucking troll.

No, it isn't true.

Henry's mother tells us that one of the members of the young man's clan invited KirmitTHEfrog and another person into a party. They played together for a while, and it was after earning his trust on February 13, that the events of the video below unfolded.

Also, people are acting like this stuff isn't common. There are people that organize sessions to abuse missions online. It's not like it's an uncommon thing. It's openly accepted. If I went into the Destiny OT and said I was abusing a glitch, no one would tell me what I was doing is wrong. In fact, they would ask me how to do it.

Im new to this, is purposely being vague and obtuse some sort of "show of intelligence" here?

I feel sorry for the kids who are going to be raised soft and entitled by some of you guys lol. But hey, thats less competition for my kid.

Holy shit.... yeah that guy is fucking shitty god damn. Who the hell plans out to screw over a kid in a video game? Seriously, who does that?

You missed his wonderful reddit profile and post history:

Yeah I'm so fucking tired of good people. He probably thinks black people should have equal rights too and women should be paid the same as men.

An 11 year old has more than enough fucking brain capacity to understand something as rudimentary as this sitution and there consequences.

Just like in real life done ever fucking engage strangers online let alone give them acesss to your console and game and don't cheat at games.

I have no idea why you are trying so hard to be condescending, the fact is that we have evidence of someone fully admitting to sabotaging someones account and we have people here who believe that buzzgoku/kermit's actions are justified because the kid was looking for trouble to begin with... Like I said in my previous post, death and loss of a character in a game are not on the same footing, but just because someone is at the wrong place at the wrong time, looking to do a little wrong (exploration of IN GAME glitches are not wrong not unless IRL money is involved) doesn't warrant something worse happening to him, AND for that worse thing to be okay.

These aren't helpful comparisons. These acts are very illegal and cause permanent physical and psychological harm. The kid is very upset now but he won't have PTSD flashbacks of the day someone deleted his characters.

Cant help but shake my head at some of the comments in this thread. Defending such a jerk move. This Kermit guy is a scumbag. Through not only his actions but his comments following the incident on Reddit as well. He's an asshole and I hope karma kicks him in the ass. Bleh.
