Bizerta: Silent Evil (Survival Horror) announced for Wii U

If this becomes reality it could very well be a good game depending on the way the studio (or is it just this one guy?) makes the game. A more puzzle-oriented horror game could be possible to make better than action-oriented one for such a small group. I'll keep an eye on this one (despite its stupid name).

This needs a name change. I'm not usually that guy, but no, this needs a name change.

Otherwise, it'll be interesting to see what comes of it, but make no mistake - Fatal Frame like, needs to be ported. How it hasn't been at this point is astounding to me.

"At least it's better than nothing", a pull quote for the ages.

If that quote isn't on the front of the box my disappointment will be immeasurable.

Ironically, the path that Silent Hill and Resident Evil have taken are certainly "not better than nothing" in my book. I'm interested in seeing if this game can create a decent survival horror experience akin to the classic titles of those series...

In an alternate universe somewhere, these devs are making a game called Atrezib: Splinter Gear Thief.

Guys, I don't know if anybody else has noticed this, but if you take the first part of Silent Hill's name, and the last part of Resident Evil, you get Silent Evil!

I think these guys are trying to be clever with the title name!

I find it interesting that the name is getting way more attention than the prospect of a new survival horror game on Wii U. Curious to see what it's actually all about, and whether the developer has the ability to pull something decent out of their hat, or if we're looking at another Escape from Bug Island.

Given the information in the interview, this is more a proof of concept than a game at this point.
And yeah, while a horror game on WiiU would be enticing to me as well, I'm sceptical if he can pull it off at all, or if he just introduced us to a pitch with nothing to back it up so far.

As for the name... yeah, it's the usual "OH I'm so funny, look at what I noticed about the title" circlejerk going on here.

But I guess that's easier and snappier than to dismiss this with actual worthwhile criticism.

Well, it sounds like they already have a lot of the assets together, and we've got some idea about the overall direction (more even focus on puzzle and action compared to the overtly action oriented norm for the genre these days). That's more than a lot of unveilings, and enough to speculate on past the blatant inspiration behind the title.

I guess their initial marketing announcement scheme worked. I'd have thought this wouldn't make it on the first page for five minutes...and here we are three pages later....

Out of interest, does anyone know the difference in cost between buying a Vita dev kit and buying a WiiU dev kit?

The article cites that file size limitations on PSM stopped the dev from working on there, but presumably then he had to go out and buy a proper dev kit, and I was just wondering if there was a price gulf between the two.

Aside from that, this appears to be another in a long line of "WiiU isn't getting x, so here's y alternative instead. It's better than nothing right?" games, that I assume devs single out the platform for because they might get some long forum threads online which maybe lead to some more sales (and might trick a few unsuspecting buyers on the eShop).

(Other examples I would highlight are Mad Men Football and UCraft)

true story!

In a game and movie rental store:

-do you have a game for Ps2 called 'The Suffering'? It is supposed to arrive soon.

-of course we have it! Do you want to rent it?

-really? Where is it?

-here!

-but this is 'Surfing'!
(cover shows a surfer doing wave manouvres!)

What was the Wii survival horror came that never came to be? Shadow? Silence? Can't remember, just a few screenshots were released, I think. This is probably never gonna get released either. Cubed3 posts any old shit as news.

Those screenshots remind me of this:

Hell, even the main character looks like Eric Simmons.
