Street Fighter V - Charlie Nash trailer; beta for all pre-orders in NA

I wish they wouldn't bother with all the "back from the dead" stuff. The story is completely irrelevant in a fighting game, a previous "death" shouldn't stop a good character coming back or having to make up some silly zombie version of them just to let them back in.

SF has always had a plot. And people like myself enjoy it.

Where did we get the rumor for a 16 character roster?

Not worried....Ono will most definitely make sure Blanka is on that list if true.

I do not think I can hold myself from getting this game at launch even if there will be a super duper ultra version some years later. Gotta try that Charlie!

I honestly might end up getting this game on both PC and PS4 just because the PS4 Disc based version will be more "portable", while the PC version can be further enhanced visually and receive mods.

Edit: Please...Please Capcom...put Dudley in the starting roster!

As much as MK9's story mode was cool, it's not the reason the game sold what it did.

It was plus the meaty single player, it's the same reason why Soul Calibur always sold great (then SCV happened and sales tanked). Most of the casual people that buy fighting games don't care about the online.

16 characters is a good number to start, this game will probably have yearly updates with new characters.

Basically no game has me this hyped (if you ignore Code Name STEAM since it's almost here). It's going to be a long wait for the beta :] The good thing about always having a pocket Chun is that at the very least I'll always have her when a Street Fighter game arrives with an initially limited roster. RIP my girl Decapre, though :( I'll keep playing IV along with V.

Franchise as a whole constantly does 2 million or more no matter how "bad" it gets and a very large part of that is because of the story they have with characters like Sub Zero and Scorpion.

Wat, MK sells because of its over-the-top violence and name recognition.

sum fucked up happened to the lighting and the colors in the game. do not want.
It doesn't look that great in stills but in motion I think the new look is far superior. It's more stylized and less realistic looking than the reveal and more like traditional SF to me. I suppose it comes down to personal preference but I wasn't a big fan of the more natural looking reveal.

I bought Deadly Alliance because of the wacky MK fighting and seeing, definitely not for the story, lol. I know some people say it doesn't count, but SSB does just fine without any sorry.

It wouldn't just sell on Name after three games in a row that got pretty middling reviews.

Netherrealm aren't just dumping all this money into Story Mode just because they want to, they know they have a HUGE fanbase who loves the characters and want more of the story.

I didn't think people really argue that MK sells a lot its copies because of the characters/story. Heck they even have a Comic setting up the new story because they know how much people love this stuff.

I don't think Akuma will be in the initial roster.

I very, very much doubt this. Since Ono took over he treats Akuma as if he is as important and locked in as Ryu is when it comes to SF.

Outside of Ryu and Chun I don't think there is a character more locked in for V then Akuma.

MK9 sold what it wold because it was a reboot with great marketing that was - to the fans, since I think otherwise - a good game as well.

Also, what "all this money"? They are getting some cutscenes and voice acting done, let's not overblow what the story mode actually is. It's a good mode with proper cutscenes worth playing through, plus other fun modes, but MK wouldn't have sold any worse if it had a shitty arcade mode in it's place.

Are we looking at the same pictures? This footage is colossal downgrade from the earlier footage. Huge losses in detail, especially in the backgrounds.

What loss of detail? The background has a lot more moving parts like the crowd, the signs that react to ground slams and has less brightness so it's not distracting.
