Sounds like Samsung trying to find success by emulating others rather than be themselves.

Hell, I remember when people were complaining about Samsung having too many features. First it was about the plastic back and Touchwiz, now it's no plastic back and Touchwiz, which we haven't really seen on this phone yet.

"lol air hover, air swipe, dont need"

You can thank Apple for making it acceptable now.

whereas a protruding camera on the corner would create less wobble than one in the middle. :P

anyways, the S5 had a protruding camera, so had ... any(?) Samsung Galaxy S phone, iirc.
The earlier ones less pronounced.

You realize Samsung literally touted that they have 40% less features, right?

"Not needing something" is different from "Complaining about something."

The problem was that their phones ended up being the modern version of this:

What, lol?

Anyway, I'm interested in what the reaction would be if they did the same plastic housing again but retaining the SD card slot and removable battery. I'd think the same amount of people might complain, except that the people themselves may have shifted a bit. It's the hard deal of making comprises, and I still agree that the choice sucks. But the phone does look moderatly good and the specs are just amazing.
I'd be like, well at least it's better than my laggy GS4.

Looks like I might be switching from Samsung. I've got a feeling that this is the beginning of the end for removable storage and removable batteries though.

My only hope after seeing all of this stuff (no microSD, battery, waterproof, prices) is the G4. Please save me LG. I'm in desperate need of an upgrade and Samsung no long wants my monies based on their shit ideas.

if you don't care about cameras the M9 is a good option to consider as well, besides waiting for the G4.

So no sd slot, not waterproof(not a big deal) and also a protruding camera? Also a non-removable weaker battery? I already hate Lollipop as it is. Still 3GB, oh well. Pretty let down by Samsung right now.

Why? It's the best iteration of android as of right now. Only issue are the bugs.

Yeah, the iPhone 6 Plus is my 6th iphone since the original in 2007; but Lolipop is phenomenal, and the first Android OS that I could see myself enjoying just as much as ios.

Its anti-user. Jumping from Kit Kat to Lollipop, it felt really difficult to get around and navigate. Used it on the Nexus 9 and it sucks. Don't like the shapes. The OS was too foreign to me.

It sounds like you need to just get used to it. KitKat in all intents and purposes was just a smaller upgrade from Jelly Bean. A lot of people had this issue from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich as well.

The N9 just plain sucks.

Two days ago one of my coworkers was explaining why he loves his Samsung and hates iPhones.

His two main reasons were:

- Removable battery.
- SD card.

Welp.

i have been utilizing the galaxy model phones for a while now (4 years or so ). but yea the lack of expandable micro sd is a huge deal breaker for me .i mean no matter how good the specs are its like an immediate pass for me. will probably go for htc phones . i have been hearing good things about the htc one m9. for me its not about the name either way . samsung and apple are just brand names , to get worked up over it is kind of ridiculous .ultimately its about whether you are ok with the direction of the product or if the product is right for you.

Every OEM makes fun of other OEMs for things. Apple made fun of big phones. They have big phones now.

Hmm. Not quite the same.

Apple dismissed the need for larger phones mainly in interviews when the question was brought up, rather than openly mocking them in advertising.

Honestly if I didn't already own the phone this was inspired by, I would be looking at this very seriously but I've been burned by samsung before so nah.

First of all, try and get a better wireless plan if possible - many consumers with high end phones are using them with a larger data allowance and understandably so.

Secondly, just realize that what you're describing is extremely situational.
Samsung ditched MicroSD for very good reasons. If it doesn't gel with you, then by all means go with something else. That's the beauty of Android. But realize that the vast majority of users have found other solutions, and you should do your best to accommodate, as that's where the market is headed. Broadening your horizons will only help you out in the long run. Think critically about your usage habits. Do you really NEED all of your music with you ALL the time? Can you not be hooked up to Wifi a majority of the time? How many apps are you using on a regular basis?

i kind of need all my music with me all the time . i have been using the same 32 gb micro sd card for a long time now was planning to switch to a 64 gb with this generation. . it basically swtiches with me through out my different model phone changes. in addition my music taste change drastically . so i like to shuffle and suddenly end up in an old song which i haven't heard for ages. it gives me great nostalgia. plus the increased storage from my micro sd stays with me wherever i go . like say in a plane ride across continents and airports when 4g is not feasible both financially and physically. is there good figures on the number of user utilizing micro sd in phones because i feel like this is a huge hurdle especially to international markets where 4g cloud storage is not a viable alternative.

Just read the post you quoted and let me know how what he said applies to what you posted.

Now if you look at rengoku's post. That's a good answer to the original quote.

I had no idea they made that ad. Oh boy.

Qft. I only buy Notes, but if the next note don't have a SD card, it's a no buy for me.

I don't want to see my android become a iPhone.

You realize a majority of android flagships haven't been using SD cards right?

Where was what I said wrong?

also, it was Jeff Bezos who said people who were right a lot of the time were the people who often changed their minds.

While Steve Jobs was very opinionated, decisionmakers within Apple aren't wearing blinders and are clearly able to react to what's happening on the market.

I do believe there's a difference between acting contrary to releasing a product that contradicts a 5 year old quote of a guy who's been dead for 3 years and releasing a product that takes away features that were used to mock the competition in TV ads.

though i think neither of those should be really held against anyone.
These companies are successful because they react to the constant flux of consumer electronics.

This thread makes me want to buy an SD card. Certainly preferable to plugging in my phone by USB every time I want to transfer files.

i haven't transfered files to / from my phone ... in ... i think ever since i got my iPhone 6 at release. I get annoyed whenever iPhoto pops up when i plug it into my macbook, but keep forget to turn that behaviour off.

Dat power of the cloud! :P
