In the reveal video there was a clear case that covers the screen, but you can interact with the screen still (?). If I saw this correctly, does anyone have any pictures of it, I haven't been able to see it anywhere, except briefly in that video.

Samsung is trying to be Pepsi to Apples Coke. In many ways the S6 is a much better device than the iPhone 6 at around the same price points. They're going to lose some sales with the removal of the swappable battery and SD card slot but they should be able to bring on new customers with a better design and better materials (like me). I don't like paying large premiums for more inbuilt storage, but I prefer inbuilt memory to external where you can't install apps. Things like wireless charging, fast charging, Samsung pay, super high res screen and 3gb or ram are compelling. My only worries are how the battery life is, if the processor can keep up with the res well and how cool the device runs under load. If they can nail all three of those, I'm on board.

I would have agreed on the storage argument until a bunch of developers, including Spotify, started making progress on allowing their apps to work with external microSD slots.

With Spotify I can save my favorite playlists to my phone (at an incredible bitrate) and play them whenever I want without using data or even requiring a connection.

There's no way I could do that with just a 32gb or 64gb internal solution, not without lowering the bitrate down to something pathetic like 96 kbps.

If Samsung is following the Apple model of storage pricing (and every indication is that they are) then there's no way I'm going to pay an extra $250+ for 128 GB storage when I can get a 32-64 GB phone and add a 128 GB microSD card for $100.

That would be even worse since you are essentially talking shit about lots of people in this very forum.
Keep your shitposting about apple/apple consumers on apple thread at least and not it other threads that have nothing to do with it.

I'm going to need you to submit a grievance form, 2 pages minimum, to my PM box detailing your concerns and I'll take your butthurt under consideration.

Mine was nothing more than an annoyed advice since 90% of your post history is anti-apple shenanigans but do whatever you want i'm not here to stop you.

Sorry not sure if this was answered yet, but is the only real difference between the Edge and regular the edge feature?

Also, any hand-on impressions of Edge?

Our COO got one. I spent an hour or two with it setting things up and getting all her favorite apps.

I was not impressed. You get a handful of shortcuts you can customize, but you need to flip through to access more than that handful. It's less convenient and less intuitive than simply having folders organized on your homepage.

My grip is used to having my thumb on the screen. I can open a folder and pick an app without even looking because of muscle memory. With the Edge you're putting your thumb on the side/edge where it's not used to being.

My wife's S4 is on its last legs (camera is 100% broken, it freezes up all the time) despite her treating it well. She needs a new phone. She's familiar with the Galaxy line, so I'm hesitant to look elsewhere. Not sure she can hold out until April 10th though. I'll have to show her some hands-on impressions and see if she's interested or not.

I think that the S6 looks pretty nice. Reading these threads on NeoGAF is getting to be less and less helpful with all the fighting and trolling, especially when none of us have even touched the thing yet.

I do wish a stock Android version was available though. My wife doesn't even use half of the Samsung added features on her S4.

I remember when the Library of Congress made that rule banning the telecoms from blocking consumers from using mobile hotspot features.

Has anything similar been done with rooting? I don't care enough to do it, but it comes up in conversation enough to make me wonder if its even against the EULA now.

I can't be the only one who actually likes having a removable battery and microSD slot, right?

I thought having a plastic back was a great trade-off for that.

Not sure if anyone has posted these game benchmark numbers:

LG Z2? What?

Yes you were literally the only one. This thread has had no complaints at all about their removal.

Excuse me if I didn't go back and read 12 pages of thread.

Most of what I have read from tech sites has been positive about the re-design. Figured I'd ask here.

Not sure, but I should look into it for her with whatever phone she gets next. Nexus 6 is probably too big for her, so unless I go Nexus 5, she's going to deal with extra software on there.

Having read more about the M9 it definitely seems like that will be the phone I choose when I get my upgrade in August.

Are you referring to the following case?

Also here are some more accessories for the phones:

Let me guess they're going to make external memory too, right?

After watching some impression videos the improved fingerprint scanner looks freaking great. I hope Qualcomm's technology proves just as effective so more manufacturers embrace implementing them.

I can upgrade on the 26th of this month and leaning towards the s6 , Hope its not only Vodafone carrying the s6 in the uk as im definitely leaving them when my contract ends.

Not a big fan of the Galaxy phone design including the S6, but the Edge looks really nice, almost like jewelry. Also love the feel of the slight curve in my N4 so I could see how it'll improve usability. However, considering how extreme the curve looks, I wonder if it'll cause compatibility issues. Anyone knows if apps extend to the curve?

That still doesn't sold the SD card problem, though.

It is a solid work-around.

Tons of people with no-SD slot android phones and tablets make do just fine with a OTG adapter, if they really need it.

Another work-around is simply get the 128GB version. And if you're going to quibble about the the extra price of it, on a phone that's supposed to be a premium flagship device, tons of alternatives exist, including the S5.

The bigger problem IMO is the battery. And even then there are acceptable work-arounds: portable external battery packs, the quicker charge on the S6, etc.

The only substantial potential problem is when eventually the battery ages and its capacity drops over time. Lets just hope Samsung has a decent battery replacement program. Unless the battery ages very slowly and maintains its capacity for 3+ years, then it shouldn't be an issue - most people would have moved on to a newer model after 3 years.

Yeah I agree with the battery being the major issue. If you're going to keep it non removable on a 5 inch phone and high resolution, shit better be 2800 mAH at the very least.

So, dumb question because I don't know anything about wireless charging - are there wireless charging pads / platforms that can run on USB cords? It'd be really helpful having something like that in my car and I'm thinking about getting an S6 when it drops.

Yes, most if not all plug into a regular wall charger via USB. Using a car charger would be no different.

Holy shit.

AndroBench comparison - the Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge's memory speeds obliterate other flagships

Yeah, LPDDR4 is going to be great for both battery life and GPU performance on mobile.

Though while I actually totally understand, real talk: We're getting excited about memory performance.

I made the same mistake in the Android thread. That isn't RAM speed, that's storage speed which has been such a fucking bottleneck for ages. It's worth a holy shit.

For the people bitching about the lack of SD card slot support, they should take a look at that graph.
