Since the media is always getting statements from Nintendo regarding amiibo supplies and restocking issues, I figured I'd reach out to them myself and see if I could get any other info. Lo and behold, after a couple of weeks I actually received a response. Nothing new revealed except that I now know I need to start putting away $15/wk for future amiibo. As if I don't have enough cobwebs in my wallet already! lol

Hello Gabriel,

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this unusually busy time of year.

In regard to your email, I'm sorry to hear that you have encountered so many difficulties getting the amiibo you wanted. Most amiibo are sold at a variety of different retailers; if you haven't yet already done so, please expand your search. For help, check the following website for a list of stores that sell amiibo:

http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/buynow/

For those amiibo which are exclusive to a particular retailer, you can click on the individual amiibo in the Lineup section and then click on the "Find a Retailer" button to see which retailer it is.

I should also point out that some amiibo were very popular at launch, and it is possible that some amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period. Unfortunately, once the product has been purchased, the consumer has the right to do with it what they want. I can certainly understand how frustrating this can be. Certain sold-out amiibo may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of amiibo to come. The distribution and availability of amiibo in other regions around the world may be different.

I wish you the best of luck in your search!

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

I have managed to subdue my collection itch and only buy the ones I find easy and want, so, cool. I'm probably only in for like 5% of it tho

Lol

For those unaware this is a divorced couple dividing their Beanie Baby collection with a supervising judge.

Beanie Babie investment, even. They invested their life savings into Beanie Babies and that was the most important thing they had to split during the divorce proceeding.

Should add a Shocking news to the title.

Anybody that honestly thought Nintendo weren't going to release as many figures/accessories as possible clearly weren't paying attention or thinking things through. The limited stock on less popular amiibo's exists for a reason, and that is to help this process along.

Given that they started with Smash, and thus have got even some of their most obscure characters out already, I am extremely sceptical about how sustainable Amiibo sales will be.

We're about to see the second versions of several characters with the Mario Party wave, and that's with Mario's and Peaches already clogging shelves. There's also no way the second Rosalina will be more desirable than the first.

There's a very real chance this bubble will burst as quickly as it inflated.

I am so glad Nintendo is deciding to make cards. The figures are cool, but the zeitgeist is not. I want the gameplay functionality of the amiibo without the item hunt or those high prices.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself. There's still many properties they can use. Pokemon for starters.

What did you expect them to say?

"We decided we were making too much money so we are no longer going to ship new amiibos sorry goodbye"

I feel bad for those collecting every Amiibo. Prepare to get a second job to get them all.

I only have 2 at the moment, but would definitely like a couple more.

And why not? She's Nintendo's Elsa. Plus some of us actually like her Mario kart Wii pose more. Don't see why she wouldn't be desirable.

Wait, Nintendo is making cards that'll work the same as an Amiibo for games? I totally missed this bit of news. Have they announced pricing and whether these cards will be available for all characters?
