Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

It wasn't because of the engine. But then that caught up and I think it was a licensing thing. The Beatles product had to be self contained. But I'd kick a kitten to get it imported.

maybe they will swing an HD remake with all of the dlc included for the xbox one and ps4. It's the only way I see it happening as it was very clear that they didn't want the beatles songs outside of the beatles game.

Q: Why not Wii / Wii U / PC?
A: Due to shifting production priorities and capabilities of the studio, we don’t currently have plans to release RB4 on the Wii / Wii U / PC simultaneously with Xbox One and PS4. While we genuinely appreciate the support of Wii Rock band users over the years, and the increased interest from PC gamers, the truth is that we had to prioritize opportunities on other platforms with historically larger RB audiences.

So nice to actually hear the truth for once. Is it really so hard?

No PS2 controller support and not Wii controller support means Harmonix is rapidly heading the way of Maxis.

They almost went out of business the first time around by fucking over the Wii and Europe, it's amazing that they've aimed the ship into the same failed cliffs.

Shame they never learn.

Im sure Activision is ready to jump in and win the sales crown again by giving people what they want. They destroyed RB last time around and they will again this time.

Theres a reason Harmonix is a niche studio that has developed maybe 2 games people have heard of, while Activision is a top 5 name in gaming.

Holy shit man, get a grip. Who in their right minds would expect PS2 peripherals to work on PS4, and then cry this hard that it doesn't? There is no logical reason to expect a studio like Harmonix to even be capable to do this. And to in-turn, honestly expect one of the the stingiest, and most capitalistic companies in gaming to go that far? You would be lucky if Activision even attempts to support old Guitar Hero stuff at all, including DLC. The only reason they might, is due to Harmonix being such good competition. It's obvious Harmonix are making huge efforts to support as many fans as they can here.

Why not just sell your PS2 peripherals, and buy used PS3 stuff? Or hell, if you are that hard up, why not just find several of the formerly widely available PS2 to PS3 USB adapters that are likely still in the wild, and use those on your PS4?

Will check it out... I think

Wow, I can't read through 20 pages but I think this is great news! My only hope is that I can use my Ion drum set. If so, I'm a day one buyer of this.

my almost 10 year old gh2 explorer is still great.

im honestly shocked at how excited people seem for new rhythm games. Didnt think the response would be so big.

How will they deal with the on-disc songs of previous games? Since those never got tied to accounts like DLC

Just a simple license check, since those licenses are on your account. It's only a problem for RB1, since the RB2 export was a straight-up file download.

I am hoping that they do some additional work to the RB1 tracks, though, since RB3 had a lot of audio issues with them that weren't present in any other piece of DLC.

the only on disk songs that aren't dlc in some way are the ones on rock band 3 as the other games had import codes that allowed you to download exclusive dlc that contained the tracks on the disk for use in other games (aside from a select few we lost over the years)

I so want Metallica enter sandman back :(

They should be on your hard drive, are they not? Not sure how they will transfer stuff from ps3 to ps4, but I am sure you can just hook up your old 360 hdd to the X1 and everything works.

Yes they did. You paid for a Rock Band 1 export code, which would be tied to your account. And I want to say that the discs post RB2 had a code in the manual that allowed for a download of the disc songs, but I may be wrong on that.

I snapped up a sealed copy of lego rock band for the export because of the RB4 announcement. Pretty cheap, I'd advise others to do the same.

There is almost no chance that anything you previously downloaded will work. You will have to redownload all of the songs.

I am hoping this time around that they will add the ability to delete single songs or at least hide them if you don't like them.

they got somewhat there with the ratings in rock band 3, but there are a lot of songs I just don't want on my list.

This one was the pinnacle to me, but yeah, the Activision hardware was much better than Harmonix's.

That is the standard GH 3 guitar? I like that one too, but it's a little small and light. The WoR guitar's strum bar is really responsive and I find the weight/length to fit my size perfectly while the Whammy bar is just long enough to let you keep it where you want it. The durability is also great as it's still working after more than four years.

Oh my god. It really is happening and my DLC, peripherals are back in. Omfg this is the best news ever for me. Day 1.

So Harmonix isnt capable of making it work and yet adapters are readily available?

Get your story straight.

If thats the case I can't wait to finally play it 5 days later from release.

lame about how u cant transfer dlc from 360 to ps4, my friends and I will again be split from playing with each other like last gen...but what can ya do...im there day one

The RB1 Export License is on my PSN account, yes. RB2 I was never able to do since you needed a code from a new copy and I bought mine used for like 75 cents

from what I am reading, when the game launches you won't have your library of rock band songs to play. They are going to rerelease the songs as they complete them and people who owned them previously won't have to pay for them.

Ideally this means that they add harmonies for vocals for older songs that have harmonies but were before they cared (hopefully harmonies in general don't get aced due to lack of resources as I like singing with my wife I can't recall if the new dlc had harmonies or not). It's going to be sad losing keys though as it's my most played instrument on rock band 3.

Has it been addressed already why the OT says the older instruments will be supported, but in the same OT in the FAQ it reads the following...

Q: Will my old hardware work?
A: We’re already working closely with Mad Catz, Sony, and Microsoft on solutions for letting you use legacy hardware on new consoles. This is a challenge on both the software side and hardware side, but something we’d love to happen. We’ll have more information on this in the coming months.

That response in the FAQ sure sounds to me like the are not 100% sure the old instruments will no doubt work. Was something else revealed since the FAQ to say otherwise?

It'd be nice if the old instruments worked with it, but my RB2-era drumset is in pretty bad shape, so I need a new one anyway. Guitars are still in perfect working order though, so it'd be a shame to ditch 'em.

Really excited to see the new on disc setlist, but kind of bummed about the keyboard support. Even if they didn't do pro, having the keyboard in 5 button mode made RB3's song selection much more interesting.

I'm afraid we are going to lose that :(
