SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

I really need to stop watching streams of this and just wait for release.

Same here, I am frustrated by my inability to stop them from making some of their mistakes and aesthetic atrocities, but I've enjoyed learning some of the quirks of the game before actually playing. Should reduce some beginning error.

Are there car accidents?

Cars even work accident-free in 3 dimensions:

All of these custom company logos that the dev is showing off right now are pretty great. Too bad you can't easily attach them to already built buildings in your game though. You have to attach them to a building in their workshop tools and then just build that building in your city.

Me too, but I'm having fun seeing what the early access people are building.

The OT for this game is going to be glorious fun I tell you, Glorious!!!

Something that I didn't see streamers do that I'm seeing the dev do on his stream is change the color of public transport lines so that you can tell the difference between them. He also addressed traffic concerns by basically saying that the streamers haven't had enough time with the game to understand the best way to go about traffic yet which I agree with. It's going to take time for people to understand the systems like it would with any sim.

Garbage Disposal
The buildings in your City produce garbage and it needs to be disposed of. To do this your City needs a landfill or an incinerator plant to process all the garbage.
As your city grows, you will need more landfills and/or incinerators to take care of the waste. Please keep in mind that the garbage trucks use the roads to move around the city and collect the garbage. Traffic jams or long distances will slow down garbage collection and can lead to garbage piling up.

Removing Landfills
You cannot bulldoze a landfill that is not empty. You can empty landfills, but while the landfill is making space for more garbage, it cannot take any new garbage in. While the landfill is being emptied, the garbage is transported to other empty landfills or incinerators.

Emptying landfills
When a landfill is full, you can switch it to an emptying mode. The garbage trucks will start relocating the garbage to an incinerator or to another landfill if there are no incinerators available.

Sounds like people placing landfills all over to mitigate problems mainly have road infrastructure issues then if they can't get the trash delivered properly to their original landfill location?

Hmm. I pre-ordered from there a while ago, but now if I try to add it to my cart, I get this error. I hope the key I get will work here. If I even get a key. If they cancel my order, it will probably be too late to get the GMG deal.

I confirmed with both nuuvem and TotallyMoo, CO's community manager, that orders that were already placed with nuuvem will be fine. They have just have stopped taking orders from certain regions for whatever reason.

I saw that question earlier in the thread, but yeah noise lowers health.

I've mostly been following quill streams. He's getting better but can't help but shake my head at some of his highway connections and city planning.

Putting ramps too close together and end ups having on-ramps before an off-ramp. It doesn't work nice in real life and doesn't seem to work in this game either. Cars need room to enter and leave the highway; if they try to do both within a small section, that's a bottleneck waiting to happen.

I also think he's building too much density and too close to the highways in his latest city. Cars are getting off the highway and being dropped into these highly congested areas right off the bat.

Regardless, I still can't stop watching! :P

Man so many building games this year- this, ScreamPark, Roller Coaster Tycoon World...

RCTW is having a BUNCH of problems and I wouldnt be surprised if it ended in 2016, and ended bad, the official forums are a hot mess.
SreamRide is not a theme park builder.

The only thing that can save the theme park building games is Frontier making Coaster Park Tycoon and being the real successor of RCT3 for 2016.

Then you have Theme Park Studio, that is not really a game, and an indie game that looks like badly done RCT1.

Just watched Quill's map editor vid and man that looks amazing. Easy to use and powerful. Wish they'd let us download the game early and only have the editor functional for the weekend :)

And bought. Can't wait! Please have a long lasting mod community.

I'm so excited for a city builder with mod tools and Steam Workshop support. Match made in heaven imo.

Hmm, the zombie apocalypse in Quill18's stream is making me rethink buying this game. Will probably wait until they fix that ridiculous death snowball.

I see a ton of people playing on Twitch, is there a way to get early access?

I wish I had it early too, I'd like to be a dedicated streamer. Havent even heard of Quill before this game.

Also, what exactly causes the plague? Poor traffic structuring which results in hearst's being unable to pick up a dead person? Why are there so many dead so quick? Pollution/sanitization?

That is actually super, super awesome, because I got the impression the game was too easy and never threw any challenges your way.

I love this :D

Unoptimized hospital placement and ambulance routes I believe.

Watching him having to delete each building one by one is frustrating.
He doesn't have to delete them though. That's the thing. Abandoned buildings will get replaced on their own as long as you take care of whatever problem caused the abandonment. He is choosing to demolish the buildings with sick people inside of them so that he can stop the plague faster.

No mass deletion is the biggest fault the game still has in my eyes. Especially annoying for rebuilding complex road structures.

I have listened but haven't really watched his stream that closely, is he neglecting deathcare? I mean he has a lot of crematories but does he have enough actual graveyards? Maybe the crematories don't ship the dead?

It seemed like a traffic issue if I was understanding correctly. Noise pollution (?) caused sickness, ambulances couldn't efficiently respond so people died, bodies couldn't be removed efficiently, and everyone moved out or continued to spread sickness.

I guess I'll find out on tuesday myself but I have a feeling that he didn't have enough graveyards to ship the bodies in addition of having traffic problems.

Because it seems that you can ignore landfills pretty much the moment you unlock the incinerator but what if the crematories don't add to the transport capacity and that is the root of the problem?

Or it could be insane amounts of noise pollution from the traffic/high density. Interesting still.

- edit -

And his sewage may have been out for who knows how long. :)

Death to relatively thoughtless high density grid based cities!

Thats what I was thinking too, haha. I mean in this stream, he really tried to push through and crank out as much population as possible, so that probably was a case off too much too quick.

Yeah, I think that is what happened. I call BS on noise pollution sickening and killing people game mechanics.

Noise pollution IS making people sick, its in the manual.
