SimCity a disaster for you? Take a look at Cities: Skylines (not related to CitiesXL)

So on the Paradox stream they said that "heavy traffic" is ONLY for industrial. They are the actual trucks and such.
Commercial that needs goods is being delivered to by vans which are not heavy traffic. So you can totally ban heavy traffic in residential and commercial zones as long as your industrial delivery trucks can get to the industrial zones.

Also, noise pollution affects the health of residential but also the business of commercial. So having high noise in your commercial zones and offices can lead to them not leveling up or downright closing.
Placing trees btw decreases noise pollution and thereby slightly raises landvalue.

Didn't know you could do that. Will make doing the road layouts more interesting in having heavy traffic allowed zones and non heavy traffic zones.

Can it be the 10th yet...

Ah... You need a vpn to buy stuff from Nuuvem now? Never had to use one in the past.

I don't know how it works exactly but someone on their forum once said the first batch of what nuuvem sells are retail keys, and once they run out of them they're selling online keys, which can cause problem especially now since steam blocks brasilian/russian stuff?

That's probably why I could add Skylines to my cart a few days ago and can't now without using a vpn.

Are we sure we can use a vpn to buy and then enter the key on steam without problem? I wish I could read about it somewhere because the situation isn't clear at all to me.

JaseC probably knows what he's talking about though.

Hmm ok.... Now that I think about it. I think all I bought from Nuuvem so far are UPlay keys so that might be different.

btw people were saying "i wish there was a town hall and such"

there is. it's under unique buildings. Tier 4 or so I think.
I just saw a dev place it.

This is like the magic wish fairy. Just utter the words "I wish that xxx would be in the game" and BOOM! it appears.
So you're saying the game has voice commands? Amazing!

I kid, I kid. Chalk me up to the people who have this entire weekend free to play this game and it is only coming out next week.

haha no i have not gotten a response. i honestly don't expect one but it was worth a try :D

What did you ask them? I hope it was "can people who pre-ordered start playing now?" Because I've thought about emailing them too, LOL!

oh no, i just said i am quite enthusiastic about the game and I got a twitch channel with 900 followers and a youtube channel with 4900 subs and i'd like to show the game off. I also slipped in that I pre-ordered it already ;)

edit: huh, just saw that for the people who want it, there is a "left hand traffic" option. Not bad!

Watching this flax guy try to make cargo train lines is so frustrating. I think actually watching anyone play this game is frustrating... only a few more days...

PFlax is famous for being shit at almost everything, if you're expecting something efficient don't watch his stream.

It's probably the best investment to purchase the highway as your second tile.

Can alleviate traffic concerns quickly.

PC games should just come out on Fridays.

Oh wow, I just saw on the stream that you can chance the line color for bus lines to make it easier to distinguish them on the map... That's nice.

Oh man, I'm stoked to learn that the Mod API is in C#. That means I can easily knock out a mod without learning some obtuse language.

I don't have any good mod ideas or anything, but I love the potential it offers!

Ok so after watching the dev play and build a new town relying heavily on one way roads, i need to say people have to be VERY cautious with them.
If you put a service that has it's own cars like hospital/cemetery/firestation then you need to set them up at the START of your one way area so their coverage actually extends into it but you also need to be sure to give them proper and fast access out of the loop again or else they will have to make HUGE rounds to have their cars get back to them.

Also there are services like the schools that don't send out cars but instead have people come TO them. These need to be placed at the END of your one way areas so that people can actually get to them.

I feel doing everything one way is way too restrictive and you need to try and give people a proper two way setup to keep their ways short instead of needlessly long.
Seeing the devs citizens having to drive out of the city, into the roundabout just to get back into the city because their workplace was 3 houses behind them on a one way street....yeah.

Any word on when we'll start to see some reviews of this? I'm very curious to read people's opinions about it. I have high hopes for this game.

Well people are streaming it nonstop and the opinion and impressions we get from viewing those for dozens of hours: Awesome.

I can already tell the micromanaging of roads and everything is going to be a nightmare. I'm no good at this kind of stuff.

I need it.

I'm starting to see as someone who doesn't watch twitch at all really there's a lot of prior knowledge you need to have to make sure you don't watch someone who's really terrible at playing games. If they're terrible why do thousands of people watch them? So confusing.

People like to jeer at someone being shitter than themselves basically. That and PFlax can be amusing some times, at least his Dota stuff is amusing!

It's kind of funny seeing people cave one by one and preordering the game as the thread progresses. Paradox's pre-release marketing has been good. Take notes, everyone else.

(I guess the main component is that they have to have a solid game to begin with, and that might be what's fucking up some other companies).

This is going to be the first game I've EVER pre-ordered. Wish me luck Gaf!

Ok they seriously need the option to plant more than one tree at a time. This is ridiculous.

Just let it be hold shift while doing it, or planting from a distance like SC4. Not hard to implement.

I agree with this. There needs to be a foliage painting feature.

I'm watching King Kongor's stream right now and as soon as his city hit 200K citizens the people started fleeing. His pop is tanking and his budget is in the toilet, now he's got abandoned buildings everywhere and a rapidly dying city. His land value was horrible, he thinks that might be the cause of it. He kind of over reacted when the downward spiral started and began placing crematoriums, hospitals, and parks everywhere, and now his budget is nosediving because his pop can't sustain his services anymore.

Between Kongor's mass exodus and Quill's zombie plague I think getting large cities to flourish is going to be challenging in CSL. I'm perfectly fine with that. :)

Yeah, his city is dying. Interesting to see - and at only 200k too. Hitting 1 million will be hard.

Giving away an extra "special" copy of this game tomorrow night during our live radio show, In-Game Chat (GAF Thread) (Website).

We broadcast from 4 to 6 central time every Saturday afternoon. We stream the show live on Twitch and you'll need to be in that chat room for the give away.

Also, be here in this thread BEFORE the show starts cause I'll be giving you folks here on GAF a head start to win the code. You'll need to have Steam open to win this contest, by the way.

Both scream traffic hell to me, assuming the highway is up.

The industry probably should have dedicated access to high in addition to the "normal". Also I've gotten the impression that packing commercial in big chunks like that generates both noise pollution (harming other commercial buildings) and shitload of traffic.
