Metal Gear Solid V Day one and Collectors editions announced

I get that, my point is do we need the series to keep going? Why can't we just let it go? I was a bit reluctant to accept yet another Metal Gear Solid game in the first place, especially after MGS4's dramatic and warts-and-all story that tied up events of the past 20 years. But seeing as it will complete the entire timeline - I have definitely warmed to it and personally consider it the biggest gaming event since the release of MGS4.

That's fair. I'm not sure. I can however say that Konami sure as shit will keep the series going, whether or not we (or Kojima) want it to. I suspect Kojima, as usual, will be heavily involved in whatever comes next but doubt they'll go WW2 on us.

Anyone know if it went up at BB or Gamestop?

I fear not getting it now due to capitalism in the U.S.Well if any kind soul got a spare and and wants to sell please consider me.

They haven't been posted yet. If I manage to get some extra copies when it happens and you still didn't get one I'll let you know. (At cost plus shipping of course)

I feel there is a greater urgency this time round because it is apparently Kojima's last MGS game (Yes he always says that but he has pretty much caught up to Metal Gear chronologically) so you won't be able to enjoy another launch experience for an MGS game in the future.

I still remember standing on line outside the Virgin Megastore in Manhattan for MGS4. Unfortunately i didn't get to buy it and have Kojima sign it since they stopped everything out of nowhere. It was still a good experience hanging out and talking to all the MGS fans. I bought the limited edition at Gamestop the next day.

Hasn't been put up yet.

Haven't been posted on either site yet.

Hasn't been available for pre-order yet at either of those retailers.

Ah. Thanks. I'll be on the look out at BB since i have GCU.

Damn, they put it up at 5 in the morning (local time). Knew something like that would happen. I get up at 6am but dont have time to check the internet until around 8am.

Similar situation here. By the time I checked, they were already gone.

Now I'm about to head out again and have a feeling they'll go up again and I'll miss it... Again

I was at that launch!! Boy, the hype was NUTS!

Here's hoping they do another World Tour.

I mean an entirely new game of his own.

Normally I'd agree, but I think in this particular case, his Silent Hill will be Silent Hill in name only. I think his take on the series will be radically different from anything we've ever seen. Something truly original and unique. Of course, this begs the question why even call it Silent Hill, but still.

Funny to think that a demo for Silent Hill came with the original Metal Gear Solid, and now 16 years later, it is he who is doing a 'Silent Hill' game.

I checked for a couple days straight after the announcement and checked a couple times over the weekend... but get to work and see it's already gone.

Would be nice, but I'm not jumping through hoops for it.

I did that one. Was quite the experience. The next day he was at Uniqlo so I got my LE and MGS1 signed there too!

I'm in Orlando now, but if he goes back to NYC I'm flying in for that one fur shure.

If you're actually ordering for other people and not just scalping then whatever, can't hate on that.

What if I told you the only reason I'm able to afford buying extra copies to help fellow gaffers out is because I have surplus cash (that eventually needs to go to college loans lol) from selling my 20th Anniversary PS4. ○_○

I wouldnt believe you because you listed different reasons above.

Anyhow, CE secured and a rumor is going about that gamestop might not even carry the CE.

Most Collector/Limited edition video game releases are anything but "limited." It figures that the one that I actually care about appears to actually be a limited release. Congrats to all of you that were able to snag one on Amazon. I'm jealous. Really hoping I can grab one somewhere!

Fear not, GAF brothers! I'm sure there are many people like me who pre-ordered from Amazon to ensure they get one, but are planning on switching over to BB once theirs are up.

I'm not going to cancel Amazon, instead I'll switch it over to another user who was unable to get one themselves. At cost, not for profit. I doubt I'm alone in these plans.

Historically speaking, MGS LEs more than live up to the "limited" part of the descriptor.

I did? I said I was going to attempt to get extra copies if Best Buy offered them and then use the reserved Amazon copies to help out gaffers. At least I think I did.

Well shoot, I was hoping to get one. Now I'm worried that Gamestop and BBY will be impossible to get it ordered from (especially how spotty they both are with limited stuff like this).

All I want out of it is the behind the scenes disc too which makes it sting more. I will just have to see if I can get lucky and if not maybe I can find a disc on eBay (or get a nice GAFer to lend me one).

I actually think that's really cool. It makes it special and unique, unlike most "limited edition" game releases, which are basically just a way to sell a more expensive version of the product. Of course, the flip side is when I am unable get one, I'm bitter about it. :)

Amazon USA has been the only USA retailer to put it up so far, so don't worry yet.

EB Games Canada has been the only Canadian retailer to put it up online and in store, so still many retailers to go.

Best Buy, GameStop, Future Shop, etc.

Not yet. Checking those obsessively today. How is Best Buy at delivering pre-orders? Do they do release date?

When you can, pre-order to pick up in store. Guarantee you'll be able to get it at midnight local time on 9/1.
