$500 for the regular Apple watch.

No thanks. That is fucking insane as if people have money growing on their trees.

I'd rather put that money towards iPad. Wtf are they thinking?

pls don't mention the Moto360 again without posting a picture of how ugly / absurdly large and clunky it is

Moto-360.jpg

I have skinny fucking wrists and even mine looks normal compared to that picture.

This happens every time, all it really says is that nothing unexpected was announced.

I want to echo this to emphasize its importance. Some traders before the event are hoping for something unexpected and hope the price pops big on the news. That pushes the price up slightly before the event. Upon full knowledge of the event, most realize there was nothing truly unexpected, and the price of shares removes the small premium that was paid before the event.

The price movement after the event is the market saying "we pretty much guessed all of this or knew all of this already".

$17,000. All hail Gruber.

The Edition just exists to skim off the top market in Asia. It's not a particularly noble goal
that's why they do the medicinal research stuff to even up their karma
, but you aren't ever gonna see it.

I just don't see why people care. I figured there would be more discussion of the stainless steel pricing since that's what people actually wanted.

Compared to all the other products in the market it is not incredibly reasonable.

The Moto 360 is 249.

That thing felt incredibly cheap in person. The pleather band was terrible. The "steel" band was a joke. And the face itself was a hollow joke. Not saying Apple's will be any better but I hope its far better than the garbage that is the 360.

That new macbook looks pretty bad honestly
Do I need some awful dongle if I want to charge and connect to a projector?
I was planning on selling my Retina 15 to get an air with a nice screen but this has too many compromises maybe Gen 2 will be better like the second air was

Seeing the last few pages, I'm seriously beginning to think that the $10.000 watches are only there to have people talk about that, rather than the (high) prices of the other iWatches.

The funny thing is this watch will be out of date in a year.

At least with a Rolex or Omega you get a lifetime guarantee with it, even with their cheapest sub £1000 as well as second hand ones.

$500? Where do you see that? I see $400 for the 42mm watch

I'm all over that retina MBA. Just gotta decide between gray or gold. Probably best to see them in person though.

God damn, Apple! No 38 mm size for Leather Loop? 250$ for modern buckle? Black steel version only with most expensive band? Classic buckle only in black?

Of course, the configuration I want is $1,049 or $1,099.

Maybe I'll just try the Sport first, even though I really don't like that band.

LOL 349 is incredibly reasonable and not at all costly.

The best current smartwatch retails for $100 and still holds considerable advantages. Android Wear's high-end doesn't really break $300. It's extremely expensive for the market.

Yeah, thats wack as fuck that the black stainless steal one comes with the ugliest buckel. That thing is disgusting and way too complicated. What? I'm right in that the black stainless steal one is only available with the 150piece monstrosity, right?

You're being dumb and this is me telling you you're being dumb.
Next.

Bluetooth can connect to more than one thing at once, right? Since I'd need both the Apple Watch and wireless earbuds connected at the same time

In This Thread: People who have only ever bought a Timex.

Watches as a fashion accessory are really, really expensive. That's what Apple's banking on.

"fashion accessory" watches are not meant to be replaced or depreciate in functionality and value over time, like an apple smartwatch.

An Apple smartwatch will be obsolete within a year, and is prone to break down completely within a few years.

Apple is trying to bring the replaceable consumer technology market over into the high end luxury watch market. They're two completely different markets with different mindsets goals, and consumer demands, though. The power of the apple brand and the iPod allowed Apple to follow up that success with the iPhone and iPad but at least that was still consumer tech at its core.

The iWatch is a terrible idea that is going to be 100% reliant on the brand name - I think that pretty much anyone involved in product management, entry level or 40 year vet, in any industry, would facepalm at this hodgepodge of amateurism and incompetence. Even if the iWatch isn't a bust, it's probably going to weaken the strength of the brand because it comes off as shallow.

It may be nice but the band looks terrible for the Sport model. It looks like like the watch my wife got in china town for $5.

Even the cheapest model is ridiculously priced. People say the Edition is a status symbol but fail to realize the whole thing is a status symbol. They haven't justified it on a usability standpoint, only a "next Apple product" one.

$100 more than the Moto 360 launch, $50 more than Gear 2. Sure it's the typical Apple premium we've gone to expect but it's not exactly going to turn away their core audience.

The ZenWatch is $200, uses real metal and leather, and just flat out looks really nice.

The thing is, I had in-laws who have never been rich, declared bankruptcy, still drive luxury cars and wear luxury watches. I will not be surprised to see them with the $10k apple watch.

And for the Europeans here... well, prices are quite a bit higher. The $349 Watch Sport (38mm) costs €399. The most expensive $17000 Watch Edition costs €18000.

Only two big surprises -- the health research thing, which is very cool, and the price range on the stainless steel Watch ($500 for a milanese loop?!)

Otherwise everything was pretty much according to rumors. I wonder if Apple will ever have another press event where there are actual, BIG surprises?

($30 price drop on Apple TV is nice, and I guess April exclusivity for HBO Now is a surprise as well).

Mine feels pretty damn sturdy. Also the straps are genuine leather (or steel) so either the display model is a cheap version, or you have no clue what you're talking about.
