BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

There are no summon signs. The summoning player rings a bell to summon. Players who want to be summoned ring a bell which indicates they are available to be summoned. Players are summoned to a random location within the summoning player's area, rather than directly next to them. Also, when a player summon's assistance, they open themselves to being invaded. Invaders enter their world in a random location as well.

Basically, it's no longer as simple as standing outside of a fog gate and summoning a partner or two for a boss fight.

Is there a video or an article somewhere that explains the summoning mechanics?

me being paranoid again

dont we usually hear rumblings of how well a game is gonna review despite embargo?

ie. cryptic tweets like "cant say much but spoiler alert this game is amazing"

feel like theres not enough groundswell on the journalistic side of things atm

need more hype

That's technically breaking embargo, it happens sometimes but most journalists for large publications won't post impressions, however brief, until it lifts.

it makes sense that the review embargo would lift on the most important day of the year

:3

I think it would have been better if instead of ringing a bell for help, you could load a flare into your gun and shoot it into the sky, signaling that you need help. That would be neat. Still, nice to know it's not just sitting next to a fog wall waiting for someone to summon you, or running up to a fog wall, summoning 2 people, then walking through the boss on easy-mode. I like the changes they've made.

i've seen enough streams, however brief and early in the game, to know this game's going to meet and exceed my expectations. no review hype needed for me.

Pretty much. There is a next to no chance that the game will be bad given everything we know and have seen. All that's left to see is how it holds up against the other games in the Souls series, but that'll be for the community at large to judge post release.

I'm still going to hope for good reviews because I want the game to sell a lot. Like a lot!

Hey NYC-GAF, does the place we normally go for broken-street date games even break street date anymore? I feel like I haven't had luck in Manhattan for ages.

Usually if anything it tends to be the Monday before release. That is when I got DmC. It used to be the Thursday/Friday before, but those seem to be few and far between now...

Kudos to anyone who beat ornstein and smough in a few attempts. It took me hours. I've never struggled on a boss as much as them. It was killer for me.

Did anyone who had lots of trouble with Ornstein and Smough also have trouble with the Four Kings and/or Gwyn? How much easier are those typically considered?

Well, I called my local GS that said they only had 10 pre-orders for BB, and mine being the only CE in the bunch.

I called them again and they are probably going to have a midnight release because the pre-orders jumped by such a large amount that a DM(District Manager) came to their store to have a meeting about throwing a Midnight Release.

So, I'm hoping the game does well because From deserves it and this game just looks absolutely incredible.

Does anybody know if bloodborne will have a cgi intro cinematic to set up the plot?

This is a good question. I have yet to actually see a cgi intro. Either I catch the stream late or it always starts at the contract part. I'd laugh if the day one patch included "CGI intro plus loading screens".

Those trailers are getting work done.

Don't think so. It just hops right into that opening scene we've all seen. Which is disappointing.

welp

part 3 from that guy on reddit.

answering some more questions

1) Not an amphibian boss. In reality this type of creature hates getting wet. Not fought in the woods but later on. Yes I have finished the cemetary area (It's the Hemwick lane) and the boss.

2) yes i have encountered an area with a poisonous pool just like blightown's bottom and the valley of defilement where you get continuously poisoned. There are small snakes that come in many numbers that jump out of the poison pools and also poison you even more. And there are some giant beast here.

3) Yes I have encountered that thing slit08 is mentioning. It was a monster that was in a trailer. I really don't want to spoil this enemy (multiple enemies combined together). One of the more cooler looking ones.

4) there are 4 headstones in the hunter's refuge pertaining to the main game. 1 is for yharnam, and the other is for the outskirts. the other 2 are inaccessible at the moment. Based on each headstone, I think there are 11-12 headlamps in each headstone of awakening. But in yharnam I have found 8 and the outskirst I have found 6.

5) Let me clarify something about blood bullets. You can only use them when all your normal bullets are exhausted. So for instance if you have the repeating pistol which uses two bullets, and you had 1 normal bullet. yu can press up to get 5 blood bullet. Thus when used the gun it will consume 1 normal and 1 blood, leaving 4 blood bullets. You can't have more than 5 blood bullets.

6) And lastly I only have blood vials (from start of the game) and Iosefka's blood vial which gives back a lot more health. Haven't used them because I feel like blood vials are fast to use anyways. And I haven't found a way to switch between Iosefka's and normal blood vials for triangle.

7) Lastly some people messaged me saying that my vitality is low. This is true, and it was a conscious decision. When i started playing Dark souls I was terrible, and so I would pump vitality and just defend. Which made me a really bad player because I relied too much on tanking hits. After beating the game the first time, i watched a playthrough done by Seraphim17 on youtube. He's one of my favourite youtubers who does hardcore walkthroughs of really difficult games on their hardest setting with many self imposed restrictions. One of the things said during his commentated walkthrough still resonates with me till now with every game I play. he mentioned that If you just keep relying on out tanking all the damage, you will never improve. You should be focusing on trying to learn the mechanics of the game, the bosses themselves, and trying to get better each time you play, and use your death to become a more knowledgeable and better player.

I will say that for the entire game, i never felt that health was an issue because every enemy I faced can be either parried or dodged/dashed away from until now, because of one shot attacks from this boss and its minions. Also i also wanted to see what each weapon does, so I had to pump my arcane, skill, and strength to be able to use weapons and give info on them for you guys. I was using almost base endurance as well.

So I will be pumping them up to around 25 vitality and 20 endurance to see if it can help

EDIT: MOAR INFO!

1) Sorry. As I said, haven't been able to progress because of this boss. haven't found the scythe yet. Trust me it's the only weapon that's been on my mind since From Software showed us the trailer where the main hunter transforms the blade into the scythe.

2) I mean Cleric Beast seems optional but it's the only way to get the kirkhammer, as far as I know soooooo yea. If you want all the weapons, you'll need to fight and scour the entire world, every inch of it.

3) also the only way to get the first chalice in the game is to beat the blood starved beast. As you can see, all the bosses serve a purpose. Nothing is there to just be there. I also like the variety and differences in each boss. Makes them very unique. I used a very cheap trick to beat the blood starved beast. I basically baited its AI into circling the back wall with the statue, and whenever I got a chance I would use my charged two handed fire imbued R2 on the hunter axe to deal monstrous damage, as this would flinch her as well. Sometimes when you do enough damage and stun her, the poison covering her body would go away for some time until she roars to get it back.

dis blood bullets mechanic/s areeems interesting. and it seems like that he's not even past the first half of the game, damn.

O&S fucked my life. Four Kings was first try. I parried the fuck out ouf Gwyn.

O&S: hug the pillars was the key for me after 10 or more tries. Four kings get only nasty in NG. Never liked parry so Gwyn was a real challenge but so rewarding when i beat him (also NG(+)).

DeS and DaS are only Platinum trophy. BB is going to be the next one. Maybe DaS II (PS4) too.

Yeah I am going to double/triple whatever hours these guys end up saying because everyone said DS1 would only take like 30 hours, it's taken me close to 85(and I still can't beat Gywn) because I am pretty average at Dark Souls. Bloodborne is going to take me forever lol.

welp

It's okay. *hug* That's GAF for you.

Yep, O&S fucked me for a while. 4 kngs on the first playthough werent that bad , but in NG+ they get a huge boost. it was another wall for me...
Gwyn was also hard because I sucked at parrying, but that made the fight epic as fuck.

i dont suppose there are more non-spoilery impressions that can be pulled from this :o

thanks in advance regardless, i refuse to buckle and click those tags!
you can read it, it's not too spoiler-ish. I also don't want to spoil myself too much, especially regarding later bosses and locations. so whenever he mentions the boss just skip it and read the next line.

I don't think I parried the entire game and I killed Gwyn on the first try O.o
My stats and gear were probably better than average but idk lol

Hunter's Dream seemed to have
locked of areas, that are inaccessible at the beginning of the game, so i wonder if anyone knows if there are more tombstones or other things beyond that?

Yea, folks posting spoilers, mind separating game mechanics from boss battles and the such? I think most would like to see impressions and game mechanics, but not boss battles. Can't really risk clicking on one mass of spoilage.

So a PSBlog post from yesterday confirmed my worst fears... the UK isn't getting the cool saw cleaver steelbook case because of "availability":
"Alas, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but availability of that particular steelbook varies from region to region and unfortunately the UK team were unable to offer it."

I'm not too fussed over it, since I'll be getting the game regardless, but it is a little disappointing that we won't be getting it over here.
