BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

KRIPP IN PEACE other thread.

Souls games always had bad loading times, but often it's another way of taking a breath and rethinking your approach to things to me. Well the loading screen is uncool, but whatever.

yes, quote me.

still not banned for some reason.
I just started watching this and a bit disappointed to still see the jank that comes with souls games.
Why design huge enemies if they can't get past crevices.
A lot of reused animations as well, I hope the next one is made completely from scratch.

I assume the long load times would be gone from next gen games. Infamous SS had given me false hope.

Thank fucking God. When morons start calling From "incompetent twats" and call the game "broken at launch" or "underbaked garbage" for 30 second load times, it needed to happen. Shit was unreal.

I hate that these crazies would always go extreme and manage to get a thread closed.
I think the thread was warranted though.

I agree that the topic is worth discussing, sure. It isn't ideal, and I'd personally prefer shorter load times (who wouldn't?). However, the topic is already being discussed in pretty much every thread about the game, so a thread may have been overkill. It's perfectly reasonable to want From to try and patch the loading or at least make the screen interesting... but man, that just got bizarre.

No luck with hunting down a early copy today, guess I'll try again tommorow.
I get you got your copy from a german retailer Mendrox? Which one was it?

lol. After reading some of the posts in that thread I wouldn't be surprised if BB reviewing well and selling well causes a few meltdowns.

Nya I haven't picked it up yet and will do so tomorrow morning. Stores name is HappyGamer (Hamburg)

Ok, thanks! Unfortunately Hamburg is a bit too far off and too expensive (3hours for one way and 150 euro). Guess I'll try the Saturn of the next bigger city around, they had the New3ds and MH4U 2 days before release, maybe I get lucky.

Yeah, and you were one of the people aiming for reasonable discussion. I really think all they need to do is make the loading screen more interesting.

As it stands, you'll probably see a blurb in reviews about occasional slowdown, frustrating loading times, and how difficulty can have weird spikes or something.

Reused assets? Bummer.

On a totally unrelated note, how do you feel about the Assassin's Creed series?

Re: load times, it seems like ever since disc media became the norm, load times have varied wildly. I don't expect a correlation between the progression of generations and the reduction of load times. Nor do I expect a correlation between good graphics and load times; the best looking games last gen also had excellent load times (e.g., GOW3, Uncharted series) and this gen, as you point out, we have examples of great looking games with short load times.

I think this is just a matter of technical competence and the approach the programmers take toward data management. DS2 on PS3 was abysmal in this regard, to the extent that I had to jump ship and double dip on PC. I don't remember DS1 or Demons' being that bad, but my memory could be playing tricks.

Why? Bloodborne looks like it's going to be 2015's Game of the Year. Game looks pretty stellar. No one will go mad over that just because they're unhappy with the load times..jezz

Extremes, I'm telling you.

THE HUNT BEGINS

Most reports say yes.

Perfect game is perfect, then. Can't wait! The AA thing is a pet peeve of mine that wouldn't have ruined the experience, but would have kind of disappointed me in Sony a bit. This is one of the most important exclusives coming to their system, afterall.

Question about weapon transforms. Is it purely just for more power, longer range etc.

From my limited experience with the alpha, for some weapons it increases range or sweep and probably damage, usually at the expense of speed. Those were just the basic weapons like the axe and saw cleaver. There might be more interesting trade-offs involved with later weapons.

It could still be better, obviously, and IQ isn't spotless, but it's been much improved from the alpha and preview build. Please don't interpret my statement as some kind of defense for the game against anyone with criticisms... I honestly believe this game is not as technically proficient as it could be, but given the developers it's better than I had hoped for. Shimmering is gone, apparently, and frame rate is more or less locked at 30 unless there's a ton of stuff happening. No blighttown here, according to what I've read.

So, about that anti-aliasing... has that been fixed since the alpha and previews?

It's better than the footage we got from IGN earlier, hat much is sure.
I watched a higher quality stream last night and while the aliasing is still noticeable, it didn't seem distracting to me. Aliasing was my biggest complaint about the game and I think I don't need to worry now, judging from what I've seen.
Won't bother you unless you're veeery picky about aliasing.

Yo guys.

Trying not to spoil myself. I heard some pretty negative early reviews, but as with all exclusives it happens.

So to you, who have been watching some stuff.

Is it good ? Meh ? Bad ? Based on what you saw.

I think I remember a developer talking about how mid-swing transforms or whatever can knock aside enemy shields/defenses. Maybe the IGN First walkthrough?

Negative early reviews???

Anyway, looks good from what I've seen. Only issues to me are the long loading times, though there are some minor things like IQ that might bug others.

I couldn't agree more, glad that thread got locked. Some gaffers thought they found their golden goose and out went the crazies!

Lol i got sick in bed and missed that thread, i guess people can't ask for better load-times in a polite way but have to shit on the entire industry like sentient sacks of shit.

These streams on twitch are surviving longer than i thought.

Does it have AF ?

I don't need *perfect* IQ. Pretty much no game has that unless you're running at 4k. The shimmering in the IGN preview video drove me nuts, though. It really took away a lot from the atmosphere in darker areas especially.

Another game that drives me a bit crazy with this is FFXIV and I play the shit out of it. Even the PC version doesn't have any decent AA options that don't cripple my 670 which is just dumb =/.

So far, yep.

Also
Looks like there will be abilities for Beast mode. Streamer just found Beast Roar rune

Which stream are you watching, can you put it in the email so I can quote?

Also I want to see the great sword in action, I really want to use that weapon. I wish I knew the stats so I can plan my build ahead of time.

What negative early reviews? Haven't seen a single one

Great since they literally just created one made scratch. And then another one two years before that. I know they aren't remaking Victory from scratch. Whether it is as noticeable remains to be seen.
I literally can never make any sort of criticism whatsoever without people bringing up AC or Ubi in anyway.

What?? People who have it have been gushing so far. Edge already claims it to be brilliant. So what negative early reviews have you been hearing exactly?

Demon's Souls has the worst loading times in the Souls series. Upwards of 45 seconds depending on the area. That said, an SSD drastically reduces load time in that game for whatever reason. By about 40-50%. Maybe the same will be true with Bloodborne!

And those were videos of the early game, it's obvious now it has improved. You used to see the literal seams of the world.
