The Witcher 3 runs at 1080p ULTRA ~60 fps on a 980

as the owner of a 970FTW+, this news pleases me greatly.

Based on how well optimized Witcher 3 looks to be, i am expecting to run it at max settings at 2560x1440.

I7 4770k @ 4.2
780TI SLI with heavy OC.

IIRC that was another "equivalent PC".

Nah the Griffin Hunt at Microsoft's Conference was supposedly legit on the X1.

I also remember reading somewhere recently that one of the planned "things" they're doing before release, over the next 2 months, is going to be showing off PS4 Gameplay. I've always found finding the source for Witcher related stuff a nightmare because so many articles are in different languages, but I'm 100% I read that.

It would have been nice to see some PS4 Gameplay already, but then even PS4-Marketed titles like Arkham Knight still haven't released any console footage (At least not to my knowledge), so I don't think it's completely crazy.
Hopefully they'll be showing it off sooner rather than later, but it's definitely coming!

Damn, seems like i'm gonna be pretty okay with a factory overclocked R9 290, really nice news. Just hope my cpu won't bottleneck me too hard, as long as i can keep atleast 30fps i'll be fine.

Then again, if the keyboard and mouse controls turn out to be great i'll have to lower the settings to get 60.

Hoping it makes it with flying colors @ 1440p/60fps with SLi 980s, as that's my current and foreseeable future setup. Can't wait for this game.

Yeah, they said the E3 footage was running on an actual Xbox. The demo that they showed off on IGN was running on PC, you could see the difference immediately.

I also cant think of many multiplatform games that release footage of each version. Devs generally stick to whatever their "lead" platform is, which in this case is PC. Like you said, Arkham is still showing off the PC version with playstation buttons and thats out only 2 weeks later. I dont think we have any idea what version of MKX we've been seeing, no one seems to care about that one though.

Hmmmm. Did they change that from The Witcher 2? I have no idea what that game was doing. All I know is that it was impervious to forcing AA or AF.....

TW2 was DX9, TW3 is DX11 (12 maybe?). It's much easier to use MSAA on advanced renderers in DX10+.

Well, according to the Gamestar preview the PS4 version's textures are a bit below the PC's "high" setting. Although that could possibly be due to inferior AF.

"PS4: 1080p, 30fps, minimally sharper textures than XB1, slightly less sharp textures than the "high" setting on PC"
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=979619

The AA solution may also have played a part in giving the impression of lower quality textures. I can't take their word for it.

I hope I can get to steady 60 FPS with two 680 in SLI at High settings. Maybe Medium in the more demanding options (textures, SSAO) and AAx2.

Who's 'they'? Can you link to the source?

What's the source on this?

"They" is CDPR.

Meanwhile, Mamais confirmed that the version of Witcher 3 shown during Microsoft's E3 press conference was indeed running on an Xbox One at 900p resolution and 30 frames per second.

Every video since has been on PC. Although, they supposedly showed off the PS4 version of that demo during TGS, it was never released but there was some famitsu scans somewhere that showed japanese text and ps button prompts.

People worrying over console versions can calm down, it's not like CDPR are developping two games. Structurally all versions will be equal, it has to be in a multiplatform project.

Basically, take the PC version at max settings, remove the ultra bells and whistles (GPU Physx, HBAO+, Hairworks), tone down the LOD/foliage and you have a console version.

These screens have no aliasing.

Well, that means pretty much nothing. Console games are always shown without aliasing these days. Pretty much industry standard practice.

That said, add some aliasing and that's probably what the PS4 version will look like. I'm not expecting a big difference between PC\PS4 without the mysterious "ultra" settings they refuse to show.

Well, considering what their AO solution looks like in terms of artifacts HBAO+ will be a pretty significant difference in and of itself.

I guess that's part of "Ultra", though in my experience HBAO+ isn't really too expensive.

Even including the time of day and general low contrast... I partially doubt that.

Ok, and what about this screen than? again, its from the Famitsu article - it has PS4 button prompts

To be fair, button prompts from controllers are not necessarily a definitive way to tell if the game is actually running on the console itself. But this screen does seem doable for the PS4, I guess.

Well I was just pointing out that I would not expect that IQ.
Also, regarding button prompts... there have been many times where games just have button prompts being displayed when it is actually the PC version.

Best recent example: the E3 demo of Batman Arkham Knight. Seriously, when devs show the versions of high end PC's, it almost feels like they are unconfident about showing the console versions to the public. Still waiting for PS4 footage of both games.

The game is being bundled with every GTX980, so of course they will say it runs really well. Let's wait for impressions;

You may be jumping to conclusions here. The mere fact that it was running on undisclosed PC hardware (probably Nvidia) does not mean it's not how the console versions will look. What prevents them from showcasing what the consoles will look like on PC hardware just to brute force unoptimized code ?

With all of the added development time in addition to the almost guaranteed driver update NVIDIA will release for it I expect this game to be extremely well optimized. It's going to both look and run really well.

Guys, there is an extremely important sentence here.

"The difficulty changes the enemy intelligence (for example monsters evade less often on the lower difficulties) but not the hitpoints"

This is HUGE understanding of how action game difficulty is meant to be done. We rarely see this
