BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

So what is the point of New Game Plus going all the way to NG++++++++ until you reach max? Why would someone want to continue to fight the same bosses over and over just so it can get harder, I understand having 2 of it like NG+ and NG++ but anything after that seems repetitive and disheartening.

Things change. Boss mechanics, mob placement, etc. Also, the challenge is generally what gives people purpose to continue. People do naked runs, fist only runs, etc.

No, that mechanic doesn't exist in Bloodborne. You need Insight to summon players, which you can get exploring the world, beating bosses or using a special item.

If I remember correctly you don't lose Insight when you die.

No. As far as I'm aware, the only death penalty is that you lose all your blood echoes.

When you die in Bloodborne, you die, that's it. You lose your currency at the point you died. You make it back to that point, you can get some of (or all, someone correct me on this?) it back. There is no humanity mechanic.

Thanks for the responses guys! The insight mechanic sounds interesting, sounds like it means that you can only summon a limited amount of times between/for each boss?

And wow, no equip load anymore is a HUGE change! One less thing to worry about.

Is there much of a change after NG++ and NG+++ besides more difficulty? I would assume boss mechanics would stay the same.

No, there is no equip burden either.
no "fatrolls", no % of stamina consumed based on the burden, etc.

this basically means that this game has no heavy armors, or armors at all. I'm not too happy about that because you have less strategy involved but if there are enough good-looking sets then I won't complain too much.

The most significant change is between the first playthrough and NG+. Once NG+2 is reached, the increases become much smaller and less significant with each subsequent playthrough. The differences between NG+ and NG+6 are smaller than those between NG and NG+.

After NG+, not much changed, no. Just the challenge at that point. At least, that is the precedent. Who knows what Bloodborne has in stock.

People just like to replay the games. I have more than 10 Dark Souls characters. Most people stop leveling their character at some point, and then they just play the game as it gets tougher and tougher.

Clothing still has various levels of defense/resistances.

You're not going to get any new content, at least that's how it was in the Souls games. But it is fun to over level a character and see how the game changes because of that.

One could argue a lack of heavy armour requires more strategy, not less. You can't simply tank and turtle your way through the game anymore.

Don't get me wrong I'm all about fashion souls, but aren't most people just going to wear whatever has the best defense if there's no equip burden? Or am I missing something here?

The Doll reacts to gestures you do in front of her.

Awesome if true.

Man, seeing all these people getting their copies early kinda bums me out. I'm jelly.

Maybe less defensive clothes are the ones that give sweet effects?

As far as defense goes, we all know it doesn't matter as much with the way hit scaling works in these games unless the def is some ungodly amount.

Shiiiit. Wish I knew some Mom and Pop stores in Kentucky that might sell this early. I guess I will play some Tropical Freeze until then.

I dunno, for me, the community aspect of dark souls was fully in place. I got invaded by humans, I saw tons of blood stains, tons of ghosts, etc. even if blood stains and ghosts and invasions don't seem to add a lot to things mechanically, it adds a lot to the feel -- the communal feel of the souls game. I wouldn't want to play it offline, especially not the first time. maybe that's just me. I saw it on the shelf and didn't buy it (after thinking for a minute).
Oh of course, if I got the game early though I would micro analyse the hell out of the hub, learn the movesets of all three weapons, spend a couple hpours on the perfect character creation tweaks, etc. etc.

I knda agree, it is far more fun for me to start a new character and try a different theme or do a challenge run at low level and without healing etc. rather than to do multiple NG+'s, but if its like DS2 and there are only certain ways to get certain equipment without bonfire ascetics, I will do NG+'s for the rare gear.
Yeah I mean surely there's a tradeoff somewhere. I'd miss that min/max/fashion tweaking.
I dunno, its confirmed that different armours have different stats, you can trade pieces, its just like Demon;s except with peice trading but with no upgrading like there was in Dark, that's all...even DS1 had non upgradable pieces. I dont really like the no weight burden though. I guess since they took care to balance the weapons animations withthe weight of the weapon its really a moot point as well. Since we can move with near unlimited speed now, there is no need to shed weight...KISS I think applies here and so far from littel i hve seen this may be the best balanced game yet. There has been some brute forcing goign on accoridnig to some accounts, but I doubt that is the case with all bosses and all games have had various difficulties for bosses, so wont complain if there are couple "off" bosses.

Yeah. If anyone knows of stores in the Seattle area letting this go early, I'd love a PM. I have nothing planned for this rainy weekend.

Worth a shot I suppose...if anybody knows any stores in central iowa that have broken street date, let me know...im anxious!!

Seriously want to start playing this game badly!!

what I meant is that you don't need to care about an armor or set being too heavy or not, the stamina usage and roll distance/speed will be the same in any case. deciding between heavy armors and lighter ones was part of the strategy.
I remember everyone using Havel's but that was just a problem of the game not being balanced.

For those watching streams have you seen any good weapons or items that scale well with arcane?

Usually do a str build first time but I may switch for this.
