Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

I didn't know Neill Blomkamp worked for Bungie, you learn something new every day. That Bungie oversight went on to make the most mundane gameplay and "story" I've ever had to go through in gaming........

Whether you like it or not a TV series for Halo is already in development with Steven Spielberg so it doesn't matter if you want to see it happen as it is happening.

When did I say Neill Blomkamp worked for Bungie? What are you talking about?

You just implied that Bungie was directly responsible for how good the live action Halo scenes were.... the best of those being directed by Neill Blomkamp....

It's amazing the pessimism towards a Halo TV show just because 343i Studio is in control of Halo's development. The real Halo TV show is coming fall 2015.

Of course. It's huge. But, I get a short teaser that tells you to go to the website but an actual trailer? I doubt it.
I would guess it's a teaser that introduces an ARG. Flashing a mysterious URL on screen is a great way to get people to participate now that seemingly everybody watches TV with a phone or tablet in their hand. AMC even encourages it with their "second screen experience" or whatever.
It's too early yet to full-on advertise H5 with a trailer, especially with such expensive airtime. Those spots usually come within a couple weeks of a game's launch, not several months away.

What I am implying is look at the QUALITY of the trailers and shorts that came out when Bungie was handling the universe. I am not claiming Bungie created these, I am claiming that some of the best produced extended universe stuff released during Bungie's time with Halo. I am not going to completely leave 343 in the cold because the Intro Cutscene with Halsey in Halo 4 was well done. They need to push that more. That was a glimpse of what they can do but haven't actually come close to reaching that mark since.

I am all for 343 producing more short stuff like Blomkamp's short or even commercials. They can do those just fine. My issue is that it appears that once the script is extended and we have to push past the length of their best short duration content, it all falls apart.

Well then Cortana,

Forward Unto Dawn was really good though, that was produced under 343. Nightfall not so much unfortunately.

After witnessing their handling of Halo: Nightfall I'd rather they never attempt a TV series again.

I hope we stop getting this episodic stuff. It worked somewhat for Forward Unto Dawn, it didn't really work for Nightfall. Nightfall should have just been one start to finish film/movie. Breaking it up into 5 parts just made little sense, especially because of how much they'd need to keep showing us what happened previously but then, we'd barely advance the story 15 minutes before it ended again.

The Halo 4 era of trailers sums up Microsoft and 343 with Halo. More money than sense. Bullet points instead of worthy content. Fincher, Scott. The idea needs to be right not the name.

Um what?

The Halo 4 Infinity live action trailer is awesome.

Wait, what's wrong with Nightfall? Are we supposed to hate that too, now?

Honestly, I think the problem with Nightfall was one of a couple reasons.

First of all, we knew how it ended. We knew from the very beginning that 343i Needed Agent Locke to survive, so the narrative they were playing of "We only have 2 slots on this transport ship that we have to reach in 3 hours or we all die" was pretty guessable.

Another problem was that they tried getting a Director who does Horror type stuff to do this with Halo, but instead of having it be something traditionally scary with Halo, eg. Alone with the flood in a foggy field; In a dark environment being stalked by covenant using active camo, they hamstrung the director by giving him only one enemy, the Mgalekgolo in a bright environment with a set of rules which were easily bypassed. "Oh we just turn off our weapons and we're fine. If we need oxygen, we take turns and only keep the oxygen mask opened for a minute before they come"

Lastly, the Actors they got were kind of meh. I'm not expecting AAAA Actors, but atleast decent ones. I especially feel like the guy they got for Agent Locke was pretty mediocre and not the best introduction to a character 343i is planning on spanning across the entire Halo Universe as an integral part of, for several years to come.

I don't really wanna watch the Walking Dead but I want to see what they show the moment it airs so I may have to have TV snapped while I grind through Halo 3 on Legendary.

-Shitty CGI (Worm swarms looked like crap, and that elite in the first ep looked constipated while walking)

- Good characters were killed off before they could be expanded on, and some forgetful and annoying characters.

- Walking through a quarry 2014

- Didnt bridge the gap between halo 4 & 5 and just sort of ended without showing us what happens to agent locke afterwards

Overall it started of promising but went only one place. A quarry with bad looking aliens

And this is coming from someone who liked it

To be fair, Nightfall really wasn't very good. FUD was a much better show all things considered.

I definitely liked FUD more than I liked Nightfall, but I certainly did not dislike or have piles of complaints about it either. I dunno. For what it was, it was quite enjoyable.

I didn't even bother finishing nightfall. Completely lost interest after the 3rd episode. FUD was much better.

FUD was actually okay until Chief turned up. It's also the only one that kinda looks like a TV show with some decent acting. The props were absolutely terrible though. Thats one aspect which needs adjusted for live action Halo.

Don't waste your time. If the reveal is happening at 9 pm on the website, the commercial wont air till after. The commercial will either be the same thing that debuts online or a tease ending with "head to this tumblr page for more".

Did most of the Nightfall budget go to securing Ridleys name and his production company? I have no idea how it cost more then FuD.

Naw. He was okay. Nightfall's problems were ones of writing, not acting or direction.

Agreed. All the issues stemmed from the writing. Locke's actor is on The Good Wife and people who've seen it say he's good on there so. Voice acting is another discipline though. Hope he can pull that off.
