That's the problem with Rick. He's extreme, but he's not incorrect. Eventually that entire situation would have came to a head, which is why they invited team Rick to begin with.

Also, I'm upset they left that Gabriel/Maggie situation out of this episode.

The problem, of course, is the extreme nature of Rick's outlook. His thinking at the moment is fine if you just want things to stay this way forever. If you want to start rebuilding you have to start thinking like Glenn and Michonne, not like the dude with the blood covered face waving a gun in the street.
