BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

He recommends Overall Quality build instead of a pure strength or skill build because it is effective enough for defeating enemies and you get to use all the weapons. Anyone who has played it can confirm the same? Is it wise to distribute between skill and str equally while leveling or is it better to go pure str or pure skl?

It all depends on your play style imo. It also depends on the type of weapons you are going to be using. Just like the old souls games.

What boss is recommended to fight next

I just beat the b
lood starved beast

and depending on what info you read the next boss is v
icar amelia
or w
itch of hemwick

what is the easier fight and the right process for game flow? and where can I find the w
itch of hemwick

The
witch can be found if you take a left before you go up the last set of steps into the Cathedral where Amelia (I think?!) is.

Can't log on EU PSN (Please wait... infinitely). Anyone else?

Just unbelievable.

How long is this shit going to be?

edit: Ah, saw the link.

from what I understand rolls are different now. You roll if you are not locked in, but if you are locked in, you do a quick dash to avoid dmg, not a roll. So yeah probably everyone has the same roll / dash

This is correct. Which is why I think its important to enable auto lock-on, so you can keep rolling in the middle of battle w/o having to re lock on

I initially went right
but was met by some insane hunters...what is towards that area? should I even bother at this point?

There is a temple further down but their might have been more, I can't recall cause I got taken away. I believe If you have this stone when you get there, that it allows you to get warped to somewhere else. I think I got it from one of the windows or doors that you can knock on, but during the night time it all changes to the same person.

I don't know why he would recommend overall quality build.
Focusing on one area allows you to do more damage for your weapon of choice.
Sure, it is great to be able to use all weapons, but why?
You can be more effective with one weapon.

I usually dump majority of my souls into Stamina first then HP until I find my weapon of choice.
Stamina=more dps, more survivability, the king stats.

Is there any negatives if you play co op? I never looked into it that much..

can you co op any time? or only boss fights?
do you not gain as many echos? or items? possible not gain a trophy for soloing it?

I don't think my Best Buy is gonna be doing a Midnight Release or anything like that T_T.

Now I'm wondering if I should just stick it out and get the 80$ Limited/collectors edition ( I want that art book) or just get the digital version to start playing at 9

I WANNA PLAYYYY

As is my tradition for every new Souls game, Skill build is the first playthrough. Holy shit I'm psyched out. And of course I have to work tomorrow. It will be very tough to only play one hour tonight .

Most weapons scale from multiple things, and you start to get diminishing returns on that scaling as early as 25. Sure, if you know exactly what weapon you are going to use fullstop then build for just that. Like if you know you are going to only use the katana then you would pump bloodtinge hardcore since apparently that gets an S scaling at max upgrade. Ludwig's Holy Blade? Strength and Arcane, followed by a minor in Skill since at max it has even scaling with STR and ARC, and one level lower with SKL. Burial Blade? Skill and Arcane. Want to be able to use all of them effectively because you don't know what move set you will like the most on your first playthrough, or what their upgraded stats are for sure? You go with the quality build.

Honestly it seems like a weapon with good scaling on Arcane or Bloodtinge will probably be the best since both of those stats effect secondary things as well, unlike STR and SKL. But that is just conjecture at this point.

I have never played a souls game but will be giving this game a shot. A couple of questions.

Will I be able to respec my build? If yes is there a cost to respec?

If I get stuck on a boss I cannot kill, is there a way to avoid that boss or do you have to beat that boss to continue?

If I die on a boss does it put me right back in that fight or does the game set you back? How far back? Do you lose any items you may have picked up?

To the people who have played it and beat it, how does this stack up agaisnt Demons and Dark Souls? Is it better, is it worse? Is it too different for such a comparision?

I need to know more about this Stake Driver thing. If it's good I'm gonna have to name my guy Alteisen and go revolver stake on people.

No

Some can be skipped and come back to. Otherwise you may have to practice, level up, or summon another player to help.

It will start you back at the lantern you started from originally. You lose your blood echoes but keep any items you picked up along the way

If you die on a boss, you have to re do the whole level, although you can unlock short-cuts, and there are ways to minimize the shittiness of re-doing the whole level again

Some questions, I'll spoiler them all just in case:

1.
Is there a respec option, or do you have to make a new character entirely if you eventually want to change your build?

2.
is there a way to change the time of day? I'm guessing all the people behind the doors would be nicer to me if it was daytime?

3.
I gave the little girl her moms red brooch, is there a next step to this? Can I get her to go to the cathedral where its safe or something?

4.
Who else can i get to the safe place, I've only gotten the old lady

5.
I saw some weird void in the place right after the cathedral safe zone thing, it kept popping up after i got some armor (top hat and hunter gear) from a body there. I went into one and it just picked me up and said "frenzy" or something, almost killed me but I had a little health left over, anyone know what is going on there?

6.
Anyone know about any diminishing returns on stats yet? Is sthere a sweet spot for vit/end?

I'll try these questions out one more time

Noone has found something to respec yet.

There are normally multiple paths and options, but you may end up being railroaded into a boss if you have exhausted all of your options already.

If you die you have to start from the closest lamp, which is never super close to a boss. You keep all items that you pick up upon death, but you lose your unspent blood echos. They are your currency for buying things, as well as your experience to level up. If you reach the place you died you can pick them up again, but if you die a second time before picking them up, they are gone.

Has anyone who has been playing on this thread found the daggers that trick into a single weapon yet? You can PM me the answer if we're not allowed to discuss stuff like that

For 4, I have seen someone send a younger lady back as well. I assume that it depends on the time of night you try to talk to the people, or something like that, as to if people will ask you if there is a safe place. Refer to this for your question numbered 6.

Yeah I agree. I usually prefer pure builds. Was just wondering if there was inherently some advantage to going with a mixed build this time.

Yeah. I will most likely be going pure strength build.
