I love that this is happening whilst I'm just getting into 'The X Files Files'. What a brilliant fucking podcast that is.
They need:
1. a Chris Carter-written 'special episode' along the lines of Triangle or The Post-Modern Prometheus;
2. a fucked-up scary Morgan and Wong episode like Home;
3. an insane deconstruction episode from Darin Morgan;
4. an awesome human-monster episode from Vince Gilligan;
5. an episode written and directed by David Duchovny; and
6. a badass conspiracy episode by Frank Spotnitz.
Give them all the money and time they need.
They need:

Seems like it's makes too much sense to not do it now.
I like the way you think! Prison Break & 24 was always the best PB & J on Monday nights.
I just want a satisfying resolution to the mythology. 24 Live Another Day made up for the lackluster Season 8 finale. Let's hope this does the same to The X-Files finale.

I'm glad that last movie isn't the last thing we're getting for the X-files, that movie was so terrible...at the same time, it also makes it hard to have a lot of faith in this revival. I hope it's good though, and gives the series a proper send off.

I was big watcher when the series started and kinda stopped after I saw the first movie. I just didn't really like the "mythology" episodes anymore. I was way more into the "monster of the week" stuff.
I did end up watching the rest of the series when I got netflix. The later seasons had some decent "monster of the week" episodes. Plus I did kinda wanted to see how the series ended.
I guess these new episodes are probably gonna address the 2012 stuff. I'd rather just have more "monster of the week" stuff. I'm probably in the minority on that though.
That being said, I'll definitely will be watching the new episodes.

Will this be a bunch of "monster of the week" episodes like the last movie, or will it follow the invasion storyline? Will John Dogget be in it? I say it should be 6 episodes, which then leads up to the 3rd and final movie.
Unfocusing my eyes as I scroll through this thread. I just started watching the series last Summer, and I've just reached Season 7 (I watch at a fairly leisurely pace, and never more than one episode a day). Talk about picking a good time to jump onboard.

Gotta say... I am pleased.
I could have sworn the Friends reunion has been planned for this year for a while. I assumed that is the main reason it was added to Netflix so people can get re-excited. I could be completely wrong though.
Edit: I fell for the rumors. Unless the rumors are the same as the X-Files.
