Just keep behind him. That's all you gotta do. Lock on and stay on his ass.
Thanks. Gonna give that a try tomorrow. I feel like it moves around too fast to properly get behind it, but I didn't actually try it. Been trying to time my dodges and messing that up pretty badly.

Found my first real mystery here...

If you keep a keen eye out when grabbed by that invisible arm mentioned last page or two, you notice it's actually a gigantic, barely visible, scary as balls creature. I took a side path away from the church in the Cathedral Ward and
wound up in what looked like a giant altar room with an altar that looked like the one you place the flame on in Dark Souls. Then I tried the giant door in the room - locked - only then I was grabbed by that creature again, and he's way easier to see in there. It's some gigantic barely visible lovecraftian scary as balls thing that snuffed the life out of me instantly.
Scary as hell - but I wonder what that room is?
This is some awesome stuff shits
Basically the Latria Wardens turn invisible.

Pretty happy as I got the game a day early from my neighbourhood game shop yesterday, ànd managed to swap my normal edition preorder for the Limited Edition steelcase on the fly :D

Played a couple of hours, accidentally reached the "second" boss first and got my ass kicked, ten found the "first" boss and managed to beat him after about three times. I love my walking cane / chain whip.

How to level up?
Leveling up happens in the Hunter's dream. You talk to the doll. She awakens after you meet the first boss "The Cleric Beast" for the first time. You pay her blood echoes to increase your stats by one point at a time.

That is not correct,
you just need Insight for the doll to come alive.
You can get this from certain items.

Started using the Kirkhammer and Cleaver Saw. Kirkhammer is wonderful; I love transforming it to a hammer mid-combo.
Got home after work to put in some more time, and jesus
Father Gascoigne
is just wrecking my face.

I can handle him mostly ok when he's a Human, but
when he turns into a Beast at like 33% he just kicks my ass all over the place

Feel like I need to play more aggressive but I'm having trouble finding openings to make things happen.
When he turns into a beast, your best option is to interrupt his attack with a gunshot to stagger him and counterattack.

Cheese it.
As soon as you get up there, lock on and just keep shooting him. He'll fall off the edge. Come back after you reset the world through a lamp and his gear will be there.

You call it cheese. I call it gravity.

But seriously I wanted an awesome fight with him and bam anti-climatic.

There has to be a solution. I don't want to buy a new TV when I just bought a PS4. Does a cable with aux input and with the red and white things not exist?

You can't go from digital to analog with a cable but there may be converter boxes out there

Edit: this is what you want

It's also on Amazon for 10 bucks

Obviously you'll also need an optical audio cable to run from your ps4 to this box

Okay I'm starting to get the hang of it, even though I've played all the Souls games before. Always takes a little getting used to.

I want to know is, how rare are these blood gems? Should I just keep upgrading my main weapon until I find a next one, or save my bloodgems until I find something that I like. Looking for the Blades of Mercy, and I'm already at the Cathedral, so I don't think it will take long to get them blades o mercy?

Cane is starting to grow on me, but it's a shame it doesn't really have a stagger charge attack.

Run over, ignore the other hunter, bring health with you, and push him off his ledge. There's a ladder down there. You just need to go off to your right when he first starts to shoot and follow that path all the way over there. Stay behind cover, but you should make your way over to his position. You'll realize it once it goes from heavy fire to none at all the closer you get. You should see it. The path is right under him. Look off at a clearing and you'll see either a path or a safe you can drop down on the far right where the Lizard or ??? was.

I know how to get there luckily, he's just been killing me when I get up top!

Cheese it.

Excellent, I'll definitely try that. Thanks.

What level, equipment and strategies did you use?

I think I was level 13. Used my trusty cane.

My first few attempts were too rushed...the key was patience. Once I was able to allow him to attack, then move in and get 2 or 3 swings in, I was in good shape. I never let myself get below half health, b/c he could easily stunlock me and wipe me out if that happened.

Didn't use any molatovs or bullets...just melee. Feels good man.

Blood gems don't get consumed on use, I think. You can swap them in and out all you want.

Anyone using the saw spear?

I just bought it and upgraded it to +3.

I have a +3 regular Saw Cleaver and it has about 10 more damage points than the Spear, but I like its move set and sometimes that extra reach is worth it.

I bought the giant Kirkhammer out of hype but realized I don't have the stats to even wield it. I should have checked it first :(

Woah, that's interesting, totally missed this. Do you remember where exactly this path was?

Hang a right before entering the door to fight the cathedral boss. You'll have to fight past two hunters one of which does NOTHING but spam his shotgun and dodge all your attacks - annoying as hell. Maybe you can just run past them. Then I ran past two executioners with sniper backup (ridiculous) at once to get in the room. Didn't think to take a screenshot, the thing appeared out of nowhere and killed me too fast. Not to mention it startled me.

I bought the repeater pistol and then found out I'm 5 levels away from being able to use it.

So how exactly do I put in that gaf co-op passcode? I'm not seeing any place in game to do it. Does it have to be through the main menu?

The only disappointing thing so far is that bells take a while to summon/be summoned, or it's not working right now. Or just the Sinister bell. Do two people need to ring the sinister bell?

I really like using molotovs (weird since I never used the fire bombs in Dark Souls, maybe because they're so much more effective here), but for some reason I rarely feel the need to use bullets. It wasn't long before the game notified me that I was actually completely full in stocking bullets and couldn't carry anymore (I think the cap is 99 bullets in storage). Riposting the big guys looks really cool though.

do you have a component input? you can get an HDMI to component converter wire, and use that...

Even if you don't beat that boss, or overcome that specific hurdle in your mind, you will always be making progress. Leveling up a piece of gear, upgrading your stats, unlocking a new path, or learning the trick to defeating a new enemy. It's all progress.

Don't get discouraged if you don't have a big revelation every time you play. every hour logged is progress. It takes time but before you know it, the things you used to think were impossible will eventually be just another small stepping stone towards your next goal. 💪

You can also set the ps4 audio to come out of the dual shock 4 audio jack. Plug headphones directly into the jack on the controller, or use it as a line out and into your stereo receiver.
