I beat up the Cleric Beast with the Thread Cane in whip mode. All hail Threaded Cane!

I think the other thing that's getting me is change lol. I just beat Dark Souls for the first time very recently. And not Estuses is proving difficult for me, since nobody's dropping anything. However, i will explore more. Any tips on doing more damage to CB other than the whole shoot his head till he's down?

Stay at his feet, Dodge through his attacks, Not away, use charged R2 when you get an opening. Shooting his head and visceral attacking him is good, but don't over rely on it staying close and dodging thru his attacks is best. Regular chip damage will take him down surprisingly well. Staying at range plays into his best attacks.

Took me about 8 attempts or so but I just beat the Cleric Beast. Wow. This game is just somehow exceeding all expectations. The level design of Central Yharnam is incredible. From continues to pave the way in this field.

Bedtime for now, but I'll be back on the hunt tomorrow.

(Also, Canebros 4 Life)
What level, equipment and strategies did you use?

Some questions from a Souls vet after a couple hours.

What's the deal with combos? Just swinging in the air, I can sometimes follow my hammer R2 with two R1s, but sometimes I can't. Is the timing super precise now?

Do bosses no longer provide any special drop? I rarely used boss souls or weapons, but liked the lore on them.

Also, do bosses drop way less blood than previous games? Killed Father what's his name and only had 2000 blood after. If so, huge economic change since I normally rely exclusively on boss rewards to upgrade my character.

Can all moves be gun parried or no? Most of the moves I've successfully parried have huge openings, so they kind of feel like a special category.

Is there a blighttown equivalent where the framerate goes to complete shit or is it more or less consistent?

I need help. I haven't fought the first boss yet and
I was right before the boss on the bridge with the werewolves. I decided to take a left cause I thought there was a shortcut somewhere in that area. I ended up in a sewer and then a church like place, and found the Saw Cleaver. But I'm nervous as shit, I got all these echoes and still havent found the checkpoint. Where is it?

Found my first real mystery here...

If you keep a keen eye out when grabbed by that invisible arm mentioned last page or two, you notice it's actually a gigantic, barely visible, scary as balls creature. I took a side path away from the church in the Cathedral Ward and
wound up in what looked like a giant altar room with an altar that looked like the one you place the flame on in Dark Souls. Then I tried the giant door in the room - locked - only then I was grabbed by that creature again, and he's way easier to see in there. It's some gigantic barely visible lovecraftian scary as balls thing that snuffed the life out of me instantly.
Scary as hell - but I wonder what that room is?

No checkpoint, only shortcuts. You get to the first lamp after the first boss.

GAF I need help please.
Yesterday I bought a PS4 with Bloodborne. I have an old TV with only a DVI input. I connected the PS4 to the TV with an HDMI to DVI cable and wanted to use the white and red cables for audio that I used for my PS3. Problem is the input for PS4 is different. It says "aux" and my TV has no optical input. What kind of cable do I need for audio?? Please help.

I'm afraid you are probably screwed. The only audio output options for PS4 are through HDMI or Optical Audio. It was designed for HDMI and it's unfortunate your TV doesn't accept that.

If you have headphones you can plug them into your controller to play but I'm afraid in 2015 you are really going to need a TV with an HDMI input.

The other option is buying standalone speakers or home theatre that accept optical audio and connecting them to your PS4.

So it's been a while and I had forgotten to go back and report to the little girl. So I did and I messed up. I was trying to back out because I didn't want to make a decision.
So apparently I didn't give her the broach and then I told her to go to the Graveyard where Gascoigne was. I went there and a hunter attacked me, there was another hunter that helped me kill him. Seems she might be the PVP NPC as she says "keep your hands clean, leave the hunting of other hunters to me." Anyway the little girl isn't here, where did she go?

Anyone?

But it has an aux input. What's that for?

So when am I am supposed to parry father's second phase? Cuz he just powers right through my parry. Killed cleric 1st try but this guy is kicking my ass.

Woah, that's interesting, totally missed this. Do you remember where exactly this path was?

I think I might be stuck. Info on whereabouts:
7% Trophy completion question

I got the boss down and I got the chalice. Went to the Hunter's Dream and loaded the dungeon. Is that part of the main story? I finished the first layer, but left on the second. I am wondering am I to go to the Church? I fought through that mob a few times now. I'm now to open that door for 10k right?

Did you manage to cap a screenshot?

Holy crap, the cleric beast is no joke! I think I'm going to have to by molotovs to get past it, cause I'm barely scratching that thing. Once I get it to half health, it goes ballistic and I can't find an opening to attack without taking a few hits myself. Going to have to sleep on this one and try again later.

I'm literally going to grind to get max Molotovs and blood vials and increase my health bar before I go back and try to fight the CB

I feel like I get in a good rythym and then there are instances where it feels like he is locked onto me and I cannot escape.

Just keep behind him. That's all you gotta do. Lock on and stay on his ass.

Haven't played too much, but just finished my second real session.
I had a few possible ways to move forward so naturally I explored them all. Very gratifying to see all the pieces falling into place and the locations tie together. Sorely missed this kind of level design in Dark Souls 2.

Very happy with the game so far.

Damn. I see it's installed now though, that's good news :)

BTW to get your videos to archive, you need to enable it in the Twitch settings on your PS4, as well as on your Twitch account settings on your PC.

Kind of dumb that it doesn't save by default
Oh, I had no idea... gonna look it up as soon as I'm done here...

You have to get to a house with two floors, it's near that sewer entrance you fell in. Then up to the second floor and back ... The you open up the left gate by the first lamp.

I'm so lost, lol. Is it past the place where a dog was barking at a door and lady asked you about a safe place?

Pro tip triangle heals you played all the way to the first boss not knowing this haha, I died sooooo many times getting there, tired the first boss but I found it impossible because I didn't know you could heal.

I'm sure it's been said many times but I just really love everything about this game

Is didn't realize how desperately I wanted a deep and engaging RPG on PS4 until now

In the Cathedral area,
past the large, tough enemy with the ball and chain there's an area with many urns and a chest at the end, and a door. Any idea how to open or where it leads?

So in the area after the
2nd boss
there's a
mounted machine gun
type thing. No big deal, easy enough to avoid. There's
a ladder
that leads to it though and I really want to kill the jerk up there. Any tips? When I get up there I get absolutely slaughtered lol. I need sweet sweet revenge.

Run over, ignore the other hunter, bring health with you, and push him off his ledge. There's a ladder down there. You just need to go off to your right when he first starts to shoot and follow that path all the way over there. Stay behind cover, but you should make your way over to his position. You'll realize it once it goes from heavy fire to none at all the closer you get. You should see it. The path is right under him. Look off at a clearing and you'll see either a path or a safe spot you can drop down on the far right where the Lizard or ??? was.

Cheese it.
As soon as you get up there, lock on and just keep shooting him. He'll fall off the edge. Come back after you reset the world through a lamp and his gear will be there.

spam your gun, you can knock him off. The item will be below, if you can't get it load back in and it should be at the top. Thats what I did.

There has to be a solution. I don't want to buy a new TV when I just bought a PS4. Does a cable with aux input and with the red and white things not exist?
