URGENT HELP needed in forbidden woods !!!

I think I'm right before a boss? I beat two pig monsters then got access to a stairwell that goes up and down. down looks like a boss room, up took me to an area to find another rune. Before I go to the boss it seems that I'm SOOO far away from a lantern and I should equip some poison runes. The only lantern I got is at the start of the level right before the bridge. Is there another?!

There are two shortcuts you can open up. One
goes from the room right next to the lantern directly to the beginning of the second half with the snakes
and the other
goes from further in near the boss room to the crashed ship right before the snake area
. Might want to do that first.

Fuck I can't wait for work to be over so I can get home and work my way through the sewers and practice my gun ripostes. I only beat the Cleric Beast because my brother helped. No more! I must get gud!

It's interesting, but halfway through my first night with the game something clicked. Conceptually, I knew I wasn't playing Dark Souls. The similarities can still trip up your muscle memory though and the way you approach the game definitely can too.

Then, after getting torn apart by angry villagers for the dozenth time, I just had a sudden thought that completely changed the way I play: I'm not a knight anymore. I'm a hunter. They keep saying it, time to act like it.

My eyes narrowed and fair fights were fucking off the menu. No more politely waiting to be seen so my enemies and I can square off like I'm clumsily asking my first crush to dance at prom. Ambushes. Traps. Dirty tricks. Guerilla hit and run tactics. Tracking enemies from afar, waiting till they're alone or vulnerable, then pouncing. In this mindset, I started wiping out whole groups of the little maggots before they knew there was danger. Don't let them breathe, don't give them time to think or fight back or call for help. Hit them hard, fast, and repeatedly until they are dead. Depending on your regain state at the end of the fight, until well after they're dead.

This seems to be working for now. I feel like this mindset is Bloodbourne's version of when you figure out that you should keep your shield up even if you don't think anyone is around while exploring in Dark Souls.

Yeah the game certainly rewards you for being aggressive. Even if you take damage, you can gain it back by continuing to attack and blood vials are common enough that you can come out of a group of villagers with full health and extra vials to spare.

I would assume you would have to play offline, so those wouldn't be there. But I am only guessing.

I'm still using it and I'm like 18 hours in. :(

No equip load means there's not a lot of truly great armor.
Jesus there has to be a better option at one point that isn't end game? Crow armor? That Covenant Armor? Tomb keeper?

it gets better later...

...when you die less.

I'm trying to figure out is I can gun-stun a particular enemy... and since he OHK me if I make a mistake, the laodtimes are particularly punishing.

Really enjoying this a lot. The old feelings of a Souls game are there. Getting to a new area that you've never been only to find multiple paths without any idea where any of them go. Those moments when you're trying to debate how to proceed...awesome. Few games bring you into their world quite like this. I just love "getting to know" the level design.

Also impressed with the visual design. The insane amount of detail poured into everything is always surprising even if image quality is a bit poor (just needs better AA and no CA).

The loading times aren't bothering me as much as I had expected as they only really appear at death or when taking care of business in the dream. Long loading bothers me a lot more when you're constantly hitting load screens during normal gameplay. Loading screens thankfully don't enter into the world which is important.

It only really sucks when trying to experiment with the game. I usually just pick up my phone to check Gaf between loads and it goes by quickly.

Thats the only latern, but there's two important shortcuts to open that make the trek much easier. Make sure you open those as this boss fight is pretty tough.

what are the two shortcuts? I opened a small gate and that seems to be the only one I remember. But the one with the gate is high up on a cliff, I see no way of getting here again without going through the entire level.

I found some oil flasks and a torch.

A quick question guys:
Is there some kind of Blue Sentinels covenant where you get summoned automatically when a player gets invaded?Or something like Cracked Blue Eye Orbs in order to invade those who invade?
I really liked these systems in Souls so i hope they exist in Bloodborne too.

I haven't encountered a single covenant 20 hours in. Not sure if they exist, maybe someone can confirm.

yea, there's a patch in the works from what i read that will fix the load times. hope From comes through with that.

Gazza was an intense fight. I summoned him earlier to help with Cleric beast as i was being a dirty casul. By the time i got to him, though, i was beasting. Took him on my second attempt. So many good things about that fight. Didn't like getting locked into a combo-chain when recovering from a knockdown, though.

1 more insight and i can get dem bells to help bloodbros out.

I'm there too!!

Does having it set as worldwide or local make a difference? I have it set to worldwide right now.
Mine is worldwide, it's still searching...

That's the only one I have found, I don't know if there are any other shortcuts or not.

So I finally get by the mob, get to the house and kill the 2 giants under the bridge. And I get stuck in between 2 cabinets in the corner of the bottom of the house looking for stuff...I can't win.

What sort of stat distribution should I be going for?
I initially was pumping into skill, thinking it would be best for damage output for my weapon choice (threaded cane). I dont think thats actually the case tho? Im not exactly sure how that works.
I didn't want to ignore my other stats so I just started grinding out some levels in VIT and END. I havent touched STR yet.

Wow 130 pages already.

Was gonna post that people should check out ENB (epic name bro) on youtube since episode 1 is up already lots of cool info and tips

Music box girl spoiler: I just spent
her mother's brooch on a gem instead of giving it to her.
Great >:(

Man I'm really liking this game. I played for like 12 hours yesterday. Only beaten the first 2 bosses. I don't even mind the grind in this game as the action is fun and the world design is really good.

Also, I knew pretty much nothing about the game mechanics before starting to play yesterday.

I have no problem with the world aesthetic and it's pervasiveness.

I also love how dark the tone of the game is. I love how there is constantly people moaning and sobbing and stuff. I love that while people are completely soul shattered there are some buildings where you can hear people laughing and having a great time. I love that the enemy design and chatter reflects the darker tone. Enemies saying stuff like "It's all your fault" and "You're cursed". So good.

This game is so good. I already like it more than dark souls 1 and 2 and I really liked the first DS

I must have missed those because I have no idea what any of those are.

. Might want to do that first.

So I have been using the starting axe and upgrading it to +3 as well as socketing two gems into it. I feel it's pretty powerful, should I save my souls for later weapons? Kirkhammer is the most powerful I can buy now, but I'd have to upgrade it to make it better than the axe is atm.

I haven't encountered a single covenant 20 hours in. Not sure if they exist, maybe someone can confirm.

I played for 34 hours and found one covenant. It was in an optional area called
Cainhurst Castle
. Pretty sure another is in an optional area called
The Choir
which I didn't find in my first playthrough.

First boss was surprisingly easy, killed on first attempt.

Okay. The music box and the little brooch npc, where are they? I feel like I've fully explored those areas, and am way past them now.

Music box:

Starting from where you reach the bridge with 2 wolves on it, cross to the other side and go down the steps, the entrance to sewers is down there, make way through sewers until get to bit need jump down in with crawling enemies at bottom. In the same area as crawling enemies is a short ladder, then another much longer ladder pretty much directly where the short one ends. At the top of this ladder around a corner should see a giant enemy, next to where he is standing is a short ladder, at the top of this.

Probably discussed, but is view specter bugged? Not working for me.

99 times out of a hundred it does nothing for me. Works in the hunters dream ok.

Yeah, if you jump down from the very beginning you'll land on some houses, keep dropping down until you get to the little church tower near the boss. You can skip even more enemies than with the ladder.

As far into the game as I am and seeing the complains on the Father fight. You guys are in for a beating if you think that fight is hard. Just stick with it though. Amazing game.

I don't like needing to sit through two load screens every time I want to respawn some enemies or heal up/restock, I'm just used to bonfires I guess. I ran low on healing items at some point and farming them back up was a pain in the ass. I guess this will become less of an issue once I have a bigger stockpile of healing crap and bullets.

I played demon's and dark souls 1 for 100 of hours and I'm not even close to beating him.

How did you do it?

Stick close and use charged-up 1h attacks. That's how I beat him with the axe.

Funny because until that point I'd been playing carefully, keeping my distance and trying to find an opening. But no, it's 10 times easier if you just get in there and stagger him a bunch of times. Try dodging towards the side that isn't on his giant fapping arm.

Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but how do you get your pre-order bonuses for the digital edition? I didn't seem to get an e-mail and there's nothing in game...
