30 mins into the game, I'm loving it. It's a bit harder than I thought, this is my first "Souls" game but I think I'm getting the grip on it. I chose Cruel Fate, so I sure hope Arcane is going to be useful.
One thing I really wish I could do is remapping the controls, but I guess fw 2.50 will be my saviour.
Played it for 4 hours straight right after getting home with my copy today.
I'm loving it so far, one of my complaints about Dark Souls was the lack of Hub, and the time it took to travel from one place to another. This blend of Demons and Dark is so perfect for me, having a hub to be safe in, and that feeling of finding a new shortcut is wonderfull.
Took me some time to adjust to the number of enemies there would be, especially in one of the first areas with all the enemies standing round a fire, with two of them having rifles. But after a few tries I got it, and I slaughtered Cleric Beast on my second try.
But the werewolves are the worst. I really have trouble with figuring out their attack pattern. I usually end up just throwing molotovs at them.
Is anyone else unable to see specters? They won't load for me in Central Yarnham or at the start in the clinic. The only time they worked was in the Hunters' Dream. Everywhere else I hit the "view" button and the Messengers and gravestone sink down into the ground but no model loads in.
Yea I'm having the same problem where more than half the time the specters aren't showing as they should, and I'm at Old Yarhnam. Hopefully a patch will come for this soon.
Do the gemstones that add poison effect actually give your weapon poison, or do they simply improve the effect of poison you can buff your weapon with?
That tip about using blood bullets and then striking an enemy right after to regain health blew my mind. How did I not piece that shit together?! Such a nifty trick. I'm gonna riposte EVERYTHING now.
Good game is good. Beat the beast now I'm dwelling in the sewers. I was debating whether to get Bloodborne or DS2 for my spring game and I'm glad I chose the former.
Awesome first 17h of Bloodborne. So far I died twice to
Cleric Beast
and 5 times to
Gascone the stunlocking asshole
. Didn't die to the other 3 bosses I managed to find so far
(Bloodstarved Beast, Amelia and the creepy double Witch)
. I love how the additions to the combat system allow more varied approaches to combat. Also axe spin to win is REALLY powerful!
Haven't tried coop/invasions yet. I did explore every area as thoroughly as I could:
in the forbidden snake forest I found all parts of 2 armor sets, healing church the door at the top is closed, killed Iosefka, the gattling hunter on the tower and got the burnt armor set, two hunters that were fighting each other in the Gascone arena that I couldn't warp to before I killed them, some NPC that turned into a lightning beast in the forest, some blue egg-heads at the bottom of the forest, and jumped into a poisonous cave
.
For the last 4 hours I have been stuck with a few items in my inventory that make no sense at all. Tried to go to the locations in the item descriptions but no luck.
Maybe my brain is just dead after the marathon but I have no idea where to go or what to do. Some really small hint would be appreciated or else I will just go "Zelda mode" and scan every location again until I hit the trigger that let's me continue.
I finally made real progress and momentum, cleared out everything up until the second boss. So unpredictable.
Music box is frigging useless, have to be far away to get time to use and then you're too far to take advantage. If I try to parry him I get tons of damage but half the time he just nonstop shoots me.
I'm past the 3rd boss and the armor sets I've gotten have all been similar stat-wise with some variation.
Suffice to say we shouldn't be expecting an onslaught of gear in this game; they're doling it out quite periodically, although every new find is always something to celebrate.

Its seems with each game they make it harder to play with other people. If they don't want people playing together, they should just remove the feature.
Ok..regarding the red brooch (alternate quest branch, might be spoiler-ish. Don't read if you gave her the brooch and want to explore other options later):
my friend who killed the Father, and did not pick up the brooch, went back to the window and a man gave him a tonsil stone and told him about a hidden church
. My question, if I use the brooch instead of giving it to her, and then go back to her, I wonder if I will get that as well.

I sent a guy in the forest to the chapel, went back and someone I sent before him died. Then I left and went back and now the old lady is gone. The demon thing said "it looks like a beast killed him, but where has it gone?".I'm pretty sure the guy from the forest is killing people, so should I just kill him or leave him be?
Yep, old lady on the chair is gone. Left a sedative behind. The robed thing is still there, so I'm gonna kill the forest guy. I regretted not sending him to the clinic as soon as I clicked, considering how you found him.

Nothing different about how it works, you press up on the D-pad to sacrifice some health for 5 blood bullets. I noticed almost immediately that the health was still available for "regen", and that was definitely intentional; get the bullets and attack something immediately to practically gain 5 free bullets.
The Wheelchair guy in hunters dream isn't where he was for me, and hasn't been for a few hours. This happen to anyone else? Before you ask, I did not attack him.

Like TheKingOfPain, this is my first "souls" game. I'm about an hour into the actual game, spent 30 minutes making my lady hunter. Haven't gotten to the first boss or anything. Died a number of times, but overall I am enjoying it.
Went with Military background, saw cleaver and pistol.
