It doesn't. There's very little draw back to helping others. You are also rewarded 1 insight for a successful boss kill as a guest.

Perfect, thanks for the reply :) Looks like this should be an effective way of farming insight if need be.

I am fucking awful at this game.

I did kinda well against the Cleric Beastt but I still feel like a scrub.

20 blood potions is kind of a big limit.I kept taking damage and chugging on them.

Oh well the game allows it so..tehe..

ok first quick impressions after about 45min or so

- yup this is a souls game, I imediatly felt confortable even without shields. just like riding a bike

- Im finding the amount of blood stains / deaths to the fodder enemies quite funny. not funny in a "look at these noobs", but funny in a "hey I remember when I first played a souls game" lol

- I went to the "central" area first, not sure if thats the way to go or not. its a area where after a bit there was some big guy banging on a door, took care of him (just a normal enemy before someone cries spoilers). Anyway, I remembered there was a left turn I hadnt taken near the lantern so I went all the way back... welp, there was a fat motherfucker there and here's my first death. I just couldnt get the timing on his swings, he seems to have a long wind up. oh well :p

- already regret taking the blunderbuss, I dont need aoe for my gun, I just want to stagger them

- already DONT regret taking the axe, that thing is a beast

so yeah, its a souls game for those worried that its not. welcome back old friend, its going to be fun

I'm so, so sorry for the terrible content on my stream. Absolutely horrible.

Going back and helping people fight bosses is a cake walk. 3 people smacking on the 2nd boss is just OP.

Having fun, frustrating but fun. And to think only the tip of the iceburg, haven't seen many weapons, armors, or any other crazy shit that I"m sure is instore.

Cracks me up when I see people say "I fought (insert boss) 20 times, and then beat him my first try!"

Ummmm... What? =)

I guess I've beat every boss my first try too, then. Y'know, after a bunch of tries.

ok, what the fuck is going on here. I went back to the clinic, mid-late game spoilers

I found a female npc who turned hostile right away, I killed her. did I fuck up? What was I supposed to use in order for her to don't be hostile?

also,
I sent the crazy man of the forest to the clinic but I can't find him anywhere. plus the lady that promised me a "reward" if I brought back people to the clinic is gone.
why?
anyone?

also do we know something about the fucking
beast mode?
Do they still have to patch it in or what.

will someone give me a small hint of where I should go next? I feel like I've exhausted all the routes I've currently found

I've beaten the first 5 or so bosses

cleric
gascoigne
amelia
blood starved
the witch of hemwick

I figure I should be going somewhere in the vicinity of the last boss on that list since it's using the second gravestone and I only have the two lamp warps there currently

Ok two bosses down, got the resonant bell. Slowly things start to get rolling. Finally. Dies like a million times. Right now im helping people with the first boss encounter. Weirdly though, i get summoned really fast, but as soon as i enter the gaf password.....no summons.

Is gaf that good, or is there somethign weird with passworded summons?

Seems to be timing, like while they are mid-attack. But for some reason I can pull it off 100% against certain enemies and not at all vs others (the large dude with a concrete slab for a hand i can never seem to parry)

Some enemies are definitely more open to riposte than others. I'm not completely sure yet, but I feel like the difference between just a stun and a riposte-able stagger is based on where the enemy is in their animation. You have to catch them out when they're overextended, like you've unbalanced them. I'm hoping I can find a theory that allows me to spot the frames when an enemy is open to riposte every time, but that's probably too much to hope for.

Also useful to note: if your gunshot goes off at the same time as you're being hit, you can still get the riposte. I've done this at least half a dozen times and just gotten all my health back via regain. That would not have worked with a Dark Souls shield riposte, so it's good to know.

My rule of thumb for the concrete slab guys is when their slab hand is coming in for the attack and the edge of the slab is just crossing the horizon of my left shoulder, I pull the trigger. Gets em every time. Took me at least a half-dozen deaths before I perfected the technique, but now they go down without issue.

I'd also advise to anyone to take the time to learn gun ripostes. Just do several runs in a row with no expectation of making progress or getting anything out of it other than training. Learn to use that gun. Center yourself and focus on self-improvement over domination. Shotgun zen is such a valuable skill, people really can't afford to pass it up.

As a final thought on guns, most enemy attacks (unless what you're fighting is just gigantic with nutso poise) can be interrupted by a gunshot. This is effectively like a block with a shield in DS and can give you time to dash out and establish new spacing or rush in and eliminate your foe. Those rules mostly go out the window when fighting bosses, but we all know bosses in these games play by their own rules.

Nah i have issues using the password overall.

Me too, should have bought it retail as right now I want to return it. Cant kill first boss.

Retail wouldn't allow you to return it anyway once you already opened it :P

You could trade it in somewhere I guess.

Although, try again, pick the axe, save up with insight and co-op and the game starts getting better!

After a few failed trys I switched to the Axe for Gascoine & while I didn't saw a big difference between teh Axe and the Saw Cleaver, my usual weapon of choice, I have to say, during day-to-day use the difference in timing and positioning is quite huge. After the boss I went back to short Cleaver, just feels too good to get in quick and dirty, ripping them apart one by one.

Keep playing and try to leveled much as possible.I just hit level 20 after beating the first boss. I think it took me 4 hours to get back to the boss and beat him on my second try.

How do I tell if my weapon need repaired ? I only noticed when it was taking me longer to kill enemies.

First time playing a souls type game. I really hated the beginning because I had no fucking clue what I was doing, almost gave up lol. Now that I upgraded my hunters clothes and cleaver, Im having a lot more fun with it. Just beat the first boss, and it was super satisfying!

So I've beaten the second boss (I'm on like the 8th one or something already) and the other starting weapons never showed up in my shop.

Is there something I have to pick up or do?

Not sure, but that really narrows down on who can summon you... I mean

-Has to be a person with gaf password on at the same time
-They have to be within 10 levels
-They have to be in the same zone
-They have to have their bell ringing (which does cost insight).

Just occurred to me, killing a hard boss in Souls / BB feels like beating a boss in World of Warcraft with a raid group after several nights of struggling in the thrill / euphoria department.

Huh.

These loading times are brutal with a capital B. I don't understand why the game seems to be reloading everything no matter how far you actually are to your last lantern. That's my only guess as to what's happening judging by the difference between the Yharnam loads vs. the hub loads.

Forbidden woods. Go to the door that was previously locked and required a password. If you're approaching from the gate, make 2 lefts from the Cathedral Plaza, and then down the stairs.

What are some blood vial farming spots everyone uses?

I spent yesterday evening just screwing around in the first area, practicing dodging, weapon movesets, riposting, etc. I literally can't pick up any more blood vials because I've got 100 of them in storage, or whatever the limit is. They drop 2-3 at a time it seems like.

I haven't been able to find anyone yet with the GAF password. Thinking some are not using it in all caps.

Sure! It took me a bit to figure this out because I was looking around the same area as you:
From the great cathedral go all the way down the stairs and through a large set of gates. You'll see to giant axe men to your left and right. Kill the one on the right and go through a set of doors there. Have fun!

Can't say enough about how much I love this game so far.

As someone with fairly limited experience with Demon's/Dark Souls (I own both and have played them a little bit and can see why they're so well regarded, but I've never really got my teeth sunk into them the way I plan to with Bloodborne), I feel like I'll do okay with this game despite the difficulty as there's just such a strong drive to continue. I know it will get crazy hard soon enough but I'm just so immersed in the world I can't imagine ever caring how many times I inevitably die.

Being a horror game devotee, the darker/more gothic tone also appeals greatly and makes the whole thing that much more enticing, though I know even the previous games could be argued to be horror too in a sense.

It's been ages since a game in its early stages has me this mesmerized and completely drawn into its world.

PSA for any Aus gaffers who aren't aware: Demon's Souls is available on the Australian PSN right now for $7.55... till sometime in April apparently. I bought a physical copy about 6 months ago but couldn't resist as I wanted a digital copy already and 95% of PS3 games I have are digital. I usually use the US PSN, I think it's $12-13 on there right now which is also a good price.
