I know this has probably already been asked but this thread is moving very fast. What is the best way to collect insight? Aside from fighting bosses. I am at nine and need one more in order to play with a friend.

Also how do you unlock the chalice ritual?

I just found and killed
father gascoine
on my first go but
I still havent found the first boss LOL where the fuck am I

Btw my tip for
father gascoine is to just kite him round the gravestones near the entrance and if you transform the saw cleaver it has a long enough reach to sometimes hit him over the gravestones.
but watch out cause he can hit you back. then when he turns into a monster molotovs are really effective

I just remember when Demon's Souls came out, barely anybody played about with the magic, because no one knew what was what.

I am kind of hoping the same happens in Bloodborne. Though, I could be wrong.
is there even magic in this game?

and will there be guns, that really do damage and not just are used to stagger enemies?

Do the drop rates change the more overpowered you are/longer u stay in a zone? or will u keep getting health potions in certain areas? Scared to farm too much

Farm as much as you want.
I don't think it is based on level since I usually go back to the lower lvl area and farm up on the big mobs to collect vials when I need them.

For everyone who is getting screwed by the Wolfs on the bridge, RUN. Seriously, run past them until you get to the stairs on the left. there is a enemy there, run past him, down the stairs and into the room. Kill the mobs there and lure the wolfs down.

They can't come into the room! Pick them off at your leisure!

Hahaha heeelp I'm getting demolished by 2nd (?) boss
Father Gasc
:<<<<

Any tips? Feels like I never have the opportunity to do anything and I can't counter for the life of me - almost out of bullets in any case.

I'm guessing you can get his health down until the transformation right? You should maul him up during the transformation - it's enough time to take his health down to near zero. After that, dodge once or twice and throw a molotov at him.

Defeated the second boss, I love how he
transforms mid battle
.

And continued a bit, love the new area ahead and new enemies

What are your favorite weapons so far?

I'm still sticking with the first cleaver.
I really wanted to like the Kirkhammer but I don't know, the hammer part of it seems to do shit damage for some reason. There is not much point in it if the cleaver is both fast AND deals more damage

Batman?! I saw you post the other day and thought it might be you lol. Didn't know you changed names.

I would love to co-op as soon as I get that option -__-

lol yeah. Sadly they didn't put my old name in my tag, so a lot of people still don't know this is me! xD

Lemme know when you get that first bell and some insight, I'd be happy to help!

I do the same thing, brick guys drop them by two's.

I really thought I was going to dislike the blood vial system but it actually is really cool.

Madman's Knowledge and fighting bosses. Once you get enough to get the Resonant Bell you can help people on bosses to get it very quickly.

Sorry to go back to this, but what kind of builds are people playing? I meant, is everyone melee with a trick weapon, or is there more diversity than that?

Four regions down and there don't appear to be any builds. Feels extremely narrow compared to the Souls games.

Stat-wise you just pump vit and end and meet the str+sk requirements for whatever weapon you want to use, since there are no alternate ways of playing that I can discern (like being a mage or archer or whatever).

There also has been no itemization progression however many (20?) hours in I am. Basically you just upgrade your preferred trick weapon to the max + level currently allowable with shards (the shard type changes as you get farther in), and pick whatever costume you like the look of (all come with major tradeoffs in stats, no clear advantage) or stick to the default hunter gear for good balanced stats, which is kind of like Demons Souls in that regard.

That's about it. The only cool things to find so far are consumables and blood gem weapon modifiers (which are pretty minor in terms of effects), and I guess emblems which unlock new things to buy at the shop, but most of the emblems are meant to be found.

Sounds like you are pretty disappointed so far, based on most of your posts. Or am I reading into it wrong?

There is magic and it will change people's builds. They decided put all the magic very late into the game, which is a weird choice.

Ok what the fuuuckkkkk I thought if you wore the black church set the guy on the tower wouldn't try and kill me.....???????????

Question about a Old Yharnam item:
Found beast pellets there awhile back. Been too hesitant to use them on easier foes. Anyone use them yet?

I found out that it even has an L2 attack when in 2 hand form.

The best gets better.

The same thing with the Hunter’s Axe (starting weapon), though its scaling isn’t as good, the moveset is better in my opinion. The L2 moves for both Ludwig’s and Hunter’s stunlocks even big enemies, it’s OP.

So I had about 3000 bloods and died. Went back, they're all gone. I feel like a chump now lol.

bloodstains don't work the same as they do in Souls games.

Sometimes an enemy near where you died (or who killed you) will have your bloods. You need to kill them to retrieve.

You can tell by their glowing eyes.
