i guess i can say i gave it a try.. bought the game and realized that the difficulty is just not for me. I'm not a patient player, i should've realized after buying Demon Souls when it first came out. (i gave up on that too)
I thought Bloodborne would be better for me because of the faster pace.

Don't get me wrong.. i'm not saying the game is bad because it clearly isn't. I'm kinda disappointed that i don't have the motivation to grind through it.

Why do you say the Kirkhammer is bad? I've been using it for about 8 hours and love using it. The moveset is incredibly varied, giving you appropriate attacks for most situations. And it's very fun to use, in my experience.

Totally agree that it's fun and it is the second best weapon I've used
The axe just seems real op

Do people find having auto target switch ON to help or hinder? Newb here. Just waiting for it to finish installing.

I enabled it because during intense fights with a mob of enemies its easy to forget to lock-on to a new target. Enabling it will automatically target a new enemy after killing one, so that split second you have between kills can be used to heal yourself instead of pressing R3 to target a new enemy.

What strategy did you guys use for the first boss(which I'm assuming is Cleric Beast). Anything special? Should I bring in more useable items like fire to use on him? Got owned a few times last night on him and wasn't sure if I'm doing anything incorrectly. Thanks!

You can blind him if you want, though it can be tricky.

Shoot him in the face as a counter, he'll go down you can rip an eye out. Do some regular damage for a bit, then go for the counter again and you can rip his other eye out. Now he'll just flail about, so I assume he's blind.

Love the look of the kirk, hate everything else. I'll keep using it though.... do the R1, L1, R1, L1 combo if you wanna look like a badass.

I didn't engage any adds. But yea one of the more annoying fights.

I don't see how that's possible, considering even when you ignore them they still start slowly swarming around the boss, so you can't just ignore them full time. Usually ignoring them gets me hit from above when one off-screen dives.

Plus, the stupid projectile shit one-shots you, if you aren't randomly spamming dodge. Try running up on the boss while it's doing that and the shit homes in on you.

I found staying behind him made me pretty much invincible. Just be nimble, as he constantly shifting/moving about so if you are not paying attention, you can end up in front again. But once you are behind, much easier to strike him down.

Yeah. I was worried about there being no hollow state to differentiate invasion targets, but this is a pretty elegant way to go about it.

Something needs to be done about coop spawns though, it's incredibly annoying to find your beckoner at times.

Wait, do you have to physically find the person who requested you? Is that what the message "looking for beckoning bell" means when it pops up? I thought that was just giving you an update that it was looking for someone on the server...

I have never had either bell work, and I've wasted like 10 insight over the past 10 hours trying to use them. It seems like it's broken.

Thanks for that tip.

I'm enjoying the game to a degree and as expected it's hard as balls right from the beginning.

It's a bit of a travesty tech wise. I have no idea how such a skill based game can get away with being sub 30fps half the time. To make matters worse the game looks like it should be 60fps. The IQ is terribly muddy and there's aliasing everywhere. The load times are atrocious as well but I hopefully they'll improve it with a patch. I guess you can't expect a well polished game from From Software.

What I did was always try to sprint approach the boss from behind when there was a gap and power thrust (I'm using great sword) into its side once and then roll out and wait for the next opening.

Damn, game just surprised me in the best way possible. Didn't get my echoes back, but did run through an area blind that I shouldn't have been in yet, picking up whatever I could. Was able to bring my axe to +4, found (weapon)
Tonitrus, a metal mace which imbues with bolt damage when you transform it
and my first Caryll Rune, which I can't use yet.

It's at it's hardest in the beginning. Once you get over that initial hump it's way more manageable.

DaS2 had the same thing going for me.

Man, I just got taken to
Yhar'gul: Unseen Village by some hooded ghoul with a huge sack.
Easily the most ominous place in any of the Souls games. Just wow at how unsettling this place is. It's like some Lovecraftian cult village type of shit.

Ran into an annoying bug yesterday. One of those white dogs was invincible. Usually they die after 2 R1 hits of the hunter axe, but this one just wouldn't die after 15+ hits even though his health bar was empty. Had to let it kill me because I was tired of it following and attacking me...

This just happened to me.

You'll still load into another game (it'll say something like 'beckoner found,' can't remember the exact working), but at the location you were at when you were summoned. So it's a pain getting together if they're like halfway across the zone.

Summoning never works for me, but being summoned does.

This is amazing design in that the people who get invaded are the ones struggling the most.

Fantastic

Well... it works pretty much the same as humanity and human form from the other souls games. You use an item that makes you viable for online play, for good or bad. Basically NOT ringing your bell is just going through the game as hollow / soul form in the Souls series.

Whoah. What happened?
Not feeling the new combat.. At all.

Getting trapped in a corner and getting hit while on the ground, while getting up and during a dodge is pretty stupid and annoying as fuck.

And I noticed that I need my shield in "souls" games.

I never played a tank nor did I turtle with a great shield, but I need my little shield.

People say the dark souls 2 dlc is pretty good.
Should I get the direct x 12 version?
But I couldn't stand the main game of DS2.
Hm..

I finlaly killed the
fire dog
at the end of chalice level 3. it seems to lead nowhere else, but I did get a new chalice item for killing it. not sure how this works.

killing this thing took me so many tries and had so many heart breaking near-wins. at least for my character, many of his moves are instant kills regardless of my hp. so it's a matter of memorizing his tells and avoiding everything and messing up as little as possible, because one mistake can often be death. it felt like fighting mike tyson in MTPO. I saved a video, I wanna upload this to show you guys. XD

Killed four bosses and I just did co-op in the area beyond the password door
The Forbidden Forest

and just fuck me up, those hydra guys scared me the shit outta me

This is what I was referring to in my last post
I suggest suicide running through the place, I found some good stuff and unlocked a shortcut

There isn't a class that starts at level 1 unfortunately. Waste of Skin is the lowest, at Level 4. I would definitely assume that a Level 4 playthrough would be possible and feasible.

Also, hi, fellow DS1 NPC!

Hi!

Looks like only SL4 is possible

...and I just realized I'm infringing on your avatar. I'll change mine :)

Excellent, cheers guys. Level 1, 4 whatever, just as long as a no-upgrade run is feasible.

Now my copy just needs to hurry the fuck up and get here already :)

Only a few hours in, but this is slowly creeping up my GOAT list.

Game is absolutely amazing. My favorite "souls" game if it stays this good. And I love the souls games.

Do you not have to pay insight every time you do that though? or is it unlimited/free?

It doesn't cost you any Insight to be summoned into someone else's game, and you gain +1 every time you help the host beat a boss (similar to the way you got +1 Humanity for doing the same in Dark Souls, though in this case I dunno if anyone's found a way to farm Insight from enemies).

I'm on
Rom, The Vacuous Spider
and boy, it's one of the most tedious and boring fights they could have possibly come up with. It's especially great how after you take out the trash ad nauesum, you can easily get one-shot and do it all over again. In fact, I can't think of more than two bosses so far that I'd actually consider fun.

I was able to kill that piece of shit without killing the
minions
.

So how do you use the gun?

I chose pistol, I feel really screwed cuz I haven't been able to use it at all to help me get through Central Yharnam, still noob lol.

That zone is cool. I'm 90% sure I'm not supposed to be there, but I got a bunch of cool stuff and opened up a great shortcut that i know I'll need in the future.
