Someone please tell me there's a shortcut or a lamp near the (Post second boss spoilers)
turret guy. I really don't want to keep making this frustrating run for a tough as hell boss

2nd boss destroyed me but downed the 3rd and 4th on my first try without even taking much damage. What's up with the difficulty? The gunner asshole and surrounding area was much worse.

So after Hemwick…
I’ve killed the Witch, went back to the Cathedral and took the other path around, killed the two hunters, killed the bag dude, killed the blade-wielding fatties, and am stuck at a door that is closed with a cosmos thing that appears by it. Afraid, I ran from the cosmos thing, and the door said it was closed. Now I’m standing in the room, confused as hell, not sure what to do.

Help?

So surprisingly I haven't raged yet. Blood starved beast has been kicking my ass hardcore. Gotten him past half way a few times but his poisoning gets me every time. Guys a real bastard. Any tips?

i got a cape and another item from a dude dressed in black in the beginning area. It then exited the gam and when I came back I couldn't find the items. Did I just miss some important items? Because if I did I will re roll.

Beginning area spoiler and question above.

Well it depends. For example I'm using Greatsword that scales with STR. So right now my END VIT and STR and pretty even. The added stat to my STR gives bonus damage to my Greatsword because it scales with it.

Hmm, interesting. I appreciate it, I'll be sure to pay a bit more attention to those attribute points on weapons now.

Same area as Grand Cathedral
Go to the door where the person was askign you for a password. That should lead you to the Forbidden Woods

The first time you go down stairs you can jump off the building and survive the drop to the next building below the sniper. From there you can cover, heal and run to his tower.

Hey ya'll - FINALLY beat VA on my first try today (died probably a dozen times yesterday). Feels good man.

I was doing some backtracking around the starting area and in the courtyard with the big brick guy banging on the door, I notice there's a shortcut next to an NPC house.

I've been here multiple times now trying to figure out where to get to that ladder from but I just can't figure it out. Has anyone lifted this gate yet?

Help me with some guidance, GAF? I just beat the
Witch
, and I'm now drawing a blank on where I can go next. Recommendations??

Here is where I have been so far, and I've beaten 5 bosses.
Bridge beast, Father G, Big dog monster at the chapel, bloodthirsty, and witch

From the Amelia boss room head down the stairs and into a large courtyard with two giant enemies. On your first right is a path to the next area.

I think I missed this boss (which I saw on stream before game launched), it's a giant
blue alien mushroom thing.
where can I fight that?

I was completely overthinking the
Witch hag
boss fight, thought I had to
Kill the adds and then attack the witch(es) while they resummoned.
Nope.
They just wander around stealthed and can completely ignore the adds.

Second day in and it has its claws in me.

Is there any reason to keep the madmen skulls or just use them? I found two and used one to level up but wondering if I should just hold new ones that I find.

I really to start adding more points to my strength though not before I finish getting Vitality and Endurance to 20. Just need one more point for Endurance before I can focus on adding a few points to my Strength attribute.

I see, thanks! I played Destiny with you when it launched back in Sept :p

I see you like to farm here too haha I can't help it either.
I remember. We raided together that month with Everyday Math and Twilight Gap. :)

Yeah, I like to be prepare for future battles. And all the farming helps to learn how enemies behave and such.

I've been there but I'm trying to remember the exact route.

I think it was
in the sewer-ish area somewhere, I think it was a ladder that led to an area with crows and another big guy that leads to this ladder. You get the music box there.

Okay guys, I'm about to get pissed.

Is anyone else having trouble with one of the lanterns not working? Specifically the one in the forest area with the killer ladies and black dogs. The lantern is lit up, but I can't teleport to it from the Hunter's Dream nor when I die will it revive me there.

wow beat cleric beast on first try, you guys had me worried. lock-on + side-step FTW

The biggest reason Cleric Beast is hard IMO is because if you go in treating it like a Souls boss you;re going to get you're ass kicked. It's all about keeping the pressure on it and abusing i-frames like a character action game. I've stopped thinking of this as a Souls game and it's become much easier.

So after that large bonfire area, where am I supposed to go? I found some different routes but man, I keep dying in every single one.

The first few times I passed that area, I went to the passage on the left after you broke some stuff, where you see dogs in cages and I ended up in some building, went down and there's some hunchback guy with a torch. After going through that buliding, there's a watery/sewer area with some acid spewing zombie things and creepy crows. Somehow I think I made a loop around and wound up on a bridge with 2 of those werewolf things that murdered me.

Then another path I just found has this bridge area with 2 giants (not armored). I have trouble fighting large monsters in most games, feel intimidated lol...

I could help people fight bosses all day long, It's just so much fun. Loved doing it in DS2 and I already love it here even though I'm really early in the game. Helped a few people with the Father and it's so satisfying to crush him after struggling a few times with him solo. Don't get crap for Echoes, but I don't care. It's kind of a like much shorter & easier Monster Hunter fight.

Someone posted earlier an enemy attack that removes Insight. Might be only reason not to use immediately.

I fucked up on
Vicar Amelia
by not equipping the numbing powder thing. Couldn't stagger her out of the healing animation, but I barely managed to bash her down anyways - I guess crippling the arms stops her from doing it repeatedly? Something like that.

Switched to the axe and started a new character. Beat the first boss the first try and the second boss the first try. I was stuck on the second boss with the whip and just didnt like the play style of the whip. Love the play style of the axe. Guess I just am better with big slow weapons over fast weapons.

Yesterday kicked my ass but today I am starting to get it a bit more. The combat is what folks said it would be: difficult but rewarding. Still trying to avoid most spoilers but it's hard not to peek in the thread at how others are doing.

You can level up before even finding him if you explore enough. In order to level up you need one point of insight (one is automatically obtained once you find a boss). There are items that give you insight, and there just so happens to be one before the Cleric Beast. I THINK it was on one of the corpses by the brick giant banging on the door in the fountain area before the bridge.
Awesome, good looking out. I shall now venture forth in search of this insight

If you turn left at the 2 werewolf area, you will reach the first boss.
