Anyone else go back to the clinic where you start the game? There's a woman all the way up some stairs which I didn't even know we're there until I just happened to backtrack a little...

You can get to the top floor through a convoluted route through a completely different area, and uh...shes crazy...and tough to kill. I felt bad.

I talked to her when I began the game. She gave a a strong blood vial, but I haven't touched it. I can't even put it into storage for some reason.

yeah, you get another one upstairs from her creepy thing. I get the plot reasoning behind the thing being up there...but....erg

Okay question about the key in the shop

Do you need it, or can you open the gate without it? I swore I went around and opened the gate that people are saying the key is for.

Also are there enemies that drain insight? I notice I"m 2 less insight and i had just fought an enemy that did some weird drain grab twice on me.

When you finish off
Father G
with a ripose you be like

lYufOET.gif

What's with that thing in Old Yharnam that you can
catch on fire
where all the screamers and rafters are?
Caught it on fire
and it didn't do anything.

Same place where you get the
Bloody Messenger Head Bandage
and
Ritual Blood
.

I've been switching between the cane and the saw spear both upgraded with two runes and plus 3. Had the cane since the beginning and found the other pretty early too.

Oh interesting, I didn't look twice at the saw spear for my skill build, but it does fit indeed. That's nice.

Dammm, I knew something was near Father Gs location in the sewer but I nvr went back...and ps4 off so gotta wait till morning Now... lol

Is there more than one shortcut in Old Yharnam ? I found one, but it's really long to the boss. I found a locked door but didn't find where to open it from.

edit: nevermind, just found it!

Anyone know what the scaling is on a +10 Ludwig's Sword?

Also, just completed my first chalice dungeon... If the rest of them are that hard then I'm really scared. :(

Just sprint as fast as you can between them and
keep your eye on the left, it's easy to miss the path as it is kind of hidden past some boxes or something. Run down the path (there may be a dude there) and into the house. The wolves cannot fit through the door so once you're inside you are safe...except for the other guy waiting inside there.

I did it!
That was ridiculous. I went in the house with a sliver of health and barely managed to kill all the guys in there.

What was your opinion on the "Eye of Sauron" stage that gave you frenzy in its light. I have not seen anyone who figured out what that Brain in the abyss does

I really liked it. That whole part of the game was crazy interesting. I actually just happened to sink that brain accidentally without actually knowing what I was doing or even realizing it until well after the fact.

I keep hearing
Vicar
is super fucking easy but I cannot do it. Her one shot attacks are too much and I do no damage. They say stay behind her back but when she jumps and you try to get back behind her she sometimes does that wide sweep attack that like if you're not behind her will hit you and take most of your life.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but tomorrow I'm gonna farm blood vials. I've lost all but 8 in my reserve. If somebody could give me some concrete strategy on how they beat her it'd be appreciated. To add insult to injury I can't even summon help.

Just finished it. Sorta lengthy write up below.

Really good, though I'm not sure how it stacks along with the other Souls games yet. Starting up a NG+ game...

As a side note, I felt the game may have been a bit short (my finish time was somewhere between 30-35 hours) and I had a MUCH easier time of the bosses than I usually do in a Souls game. Now I definitely didn't uncover everything and I didn't spend much time doing Chalice dungeons, but I felt like Dark Souls 1 and 2 were more in the 50 hour range...

I feel like you probably missed some bosses. And you should do the chalice. I can understand some of the other complaints, but think you should give it some more time.

My CE finally came in today.

Fucking hell.

First three hours or so were rough. Didn't even make it to CB in that time. Once I did, I died like seven times.

But then things started clicking. Killed CB, got through the aqueduct, got all of the items, started upgrading weapons (yay Kirkhammer).

To anyone reading this who's still on the fence: you're going to hate your life the first three to four hours of the game. Once everything comes together though, you're in for a helluva ride.

This freaking game.

So you get Gascoigne to below half health and watch him change in to a Werewolf and proceed to kick the shit out of players who think they have your support? Don't be afraid of the giant super fast Werewolf!!! attack that motherfucker!!!.....Host has died...returning to your world.

I like to think that the people who felt it necessary to summon me are doing so because they are struggling and need the extra hand. As long as I see people engaging in the fight and not hiding in the corner they have my axe till the end :)

Yes that is exactly what i do. I did it differently before and noticed that people would just hang back and strike occasionally as im wailing on the boss until it's dead. I'm all for helping others, but it feels like it's too much help. They know what they are in for during the fight. It's easier to fight the final form at less than half health when you haven't had to use any items or lost any health. And if they die, they die.

Can you describe how you got there a bit more in detail?
Yes. And if youve gotten to the forest yet, read this post if you want to know how to access the area. Most people missed this, I was kinda going "what"

From the lamp in the forest, you go across the bridge and take the normal route. When you get to the split between the house with the red lamp and the main village square, go left towards the red lamp. If you took a different way down and ended up in the main square with the pit, exit via the front gate (the one that activates a trap) and go up the hill.

Go around the house and behind it. Keep going. Youll be in a lake with poison and some very strong enemies. Run around the area, grabbing the items. Expect to die probably, and enjoy antidote spam. In the back of the cave there is a long ladder. Take this up for a damn long time. Not mgs3 long, but long. Youre on a rooftop in a village. Go over, and you end up in the clinic.

Heads up, look around and if you hear her speak a dialogue to you, leave the room. You can activate a shortcut to the original lamp from when you started the game past her experiment which can be one shotted, which I would highly recommend, as you may die.

Crazy, isn't it?
It also explains
where the forest weirdos came from, seeing as she has the blue one in her clinic and uses snake heads as her magic attack

If the host is getting beat up and is close to death, I do what I can to aggro the boss and give the host time to heal up. Everyone I've played with has been pretty good about not letting the summons do all the work.

Tip for mid-game boss...

Not sure if Paarl is supposed to be very difficult but I got crushed 3 times before beating him easily with a change of strategy. When he swipes, dash forward. You'll end up under him and he has no chance! I was level 30 with Cane +6.

I went past a major part of the game accidentally, then came back waaaayyy overleveled for it. It's funny to hear people talk about the w
itch
being difficult or tense because I just destroyed her

Hey can you tell me where he is? I think I skipped him.

Oh anyone who started out with the Threaded Cane but who is having second doubts early in the game... stick with it. That thing is incredible once you've leveled your skill up a bit and gotten used to its move set. Keep its reach and speed in mind, especially during boss fights. Your game plan is to buzz back and forth, killing them with bug bites but always just out of their reach. It's a very effective strategy on all but a very few boss fights.

I have no idea how to do that or where I'd find that!

right when you get into that area with all the burning crosses, look to the right of the stair path. There is a messenger with a message, don't know but I think it says use the bell if need help or something of the sorts. Use the bell on top of it or while reading it, should summon that blonde hair NPC dude from the Church or whoever he was.

For anyone who has beaten the game, I'm curious as to about how much longer I have to go. I just beat
Micolash
, so about how much more is there after that?

And its really great for PvP too.

Yeah I'm gonna need to know where the point of no return is and how to do every secret zone, I hate missing shit in case I don't play ng+ (and I won't right away that's for sure). I would have hated to miss the painting world in dark souls for example. But I'll worry about that in about 1 week or so, I've only done 1 boss so far :)

I was under the impression that Michael Wandmacher scored all the game, but the Wikipedia page lists a total of 6 composers.

Anybody have more info?

Welcome to Gsnap's continuing adventures in Bloodborne!

After absolutely decimating the B
lood-starved Beast
with a fellow gaffer, I decided no more co-op for my first run through. It just makes bosses far, far too easy.

So I head back to Hunters Dream with enough money to finally buy the weapon G
atling Hunter
was using. It's undeniably badass. I wish the moveset had a little more versatility, but there's nothing better than landing it's fully charged R2. I'll definitely upgrade it just for the fun of it.

But anyway, based on what the old man said, I was sure I had to
buy the key to the church area.
So I make it in there and decide to explore and run across two hunters. Luckily I was able to fight them one at a time, but that second one, man... constantly using ranged attacks and dodging. It took forever to beat him.

Anyway, after that... Well I explore some more... I'm sure some of you know what happened. Getting killed and
taken to the prison really threw me for a loop
The worst part was
I kept trying to go the wrong way and getting killed when there was a super close lantern right around the corner.

So anyway, I make it out of that hellhole and decide to find my way to the next boss.

AND MY GOD.

It just might be my favorite boss in the entire series. V
icar Amelia
is who I'm talking about, by the way. The aesthetic design is just out of this world. It's great how they were able to make all the beasts similar enough that they look consistent, but different enough that each is unique. As I said, I wasn't going to summon anyone, so going in on my own was as scary as always. I love how this game let's you know that something important is about to happen just by the area design itself. It was so obvious that a big boss was coming up and the walk to the cutscene was overwhelming.

So anyway, I'm proud to say that despite not being the best Souls player, I managed to beat the boss on my first try. It was pretty down to the wire, and it was so intense and so much fun.

Here's the video. Though the quality is pretty bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owCUtAWa6hA

Anyway, amazing boss. So far Bloodborne has exceeded my expectations, and I wouldn't be surprised if it surpasses Dark Souls as my favorite "Souls" game.

Just killed my 7th boss.

So thus far I have killed:

Cleric Beast
Father
Starved Beast
Amilia
Witch
The 3 Shadow dudes in the forest
Spider in the lake (Roah?)

Listed them in order I killed them, I know you can sort of mix up the order a lot in the game.

After the first two bosses the difficulty in the bosses has dropped dramatically. I cleared the last 5 without dying where as I died 3 times on the first boss and 6 times on second (until I learned the mechanics of the parry, then I did it first time).

There was a Hunter before the 7th boss fight that was much harder than the actual boss fight.

The forest level was insane. Absolutely huge, dripping with creepy atmosphere and enemies. It took me a good hour or so to find my way in that area.

I am no Souls expert of course but game definitely gets easier once you survive the initial few bosses and areas. Well if you do the proper exploring and leveling of course, still have to be patient.

Moment of the day was me trying to find the boss shortcut before the 6th boss while having 100K Blood echoes in pocket. Shit was nerve racking as hell and I didn't want to teleport home because the area was so huge and filled with so many enemies that it would've taken me another hour just to get to where I was. The gamble paid off though.

After like 10 tries I finally killed the lightning beast. I had to get the timing down for dodging the AoE attack. I'm so shit at this game. Bosses that feel like they should be easy are kicking my ass. It never felt this way I'm Dark Souls and I didn't use a shield in those. I'm STILL fighting Amelia.
