How is the stake driver? I have the strength for it....
I don't see how a community of people playing and trying things and pvping and exploring can really ever thrive with bloodborne like it did with Dark Souls 1 and 2. there's just so little to work with when it comes to experimenting, coming up with builds, finding new ways to use things, using various weapons and armor... I know I've been ranting on this a bit, but it really is so disappointing the lack of equipment and the lack of builds. characters are basically stronger or weaker versions of eachother, armor not mattering, spells not existing, and only a handful of weapons available to pick from, most of them acquired at the start of the game by any player. this game took a huge step back from dark souls games when it comes to depth of gameplay.
There are a couple of game play choices that make zero sense. This is one of them, it prevents you from PvPing or playing Co-Op for any extended period of time. I helped 3 or 4 people on a boss, now I never get drops from the cathedral area. Which means I get to farm potions and ammo. How boring.
Out of stock now apparently, will try the Supermarkets but even they appear to all be around the £50 mark.
Weapons in the world are extremely rare (I think I only actually found two).
However if you go back to the Hunter's Dream and check the messengers in the fountain, they should have a selection of weapons.
That said, nothing will ever replace the whip cane. It's a great weapon![]()
How's the rifle spear? I chose theinstead.stake driver

I have it at +9 with 30 in skill and I'm happy. What I don't understand is that with a certain sword I have, where the number stats are higher (tried without gems to even it out) it hits for less than my cane, even though it's +9 also.

To regain back some of your lost health after being attacked, yeah have to strike back immediately?
Well I spent 2 hours in there tonight and didn't find anything besides chalice mats so if items do drop, I don't think the commitment is feeling worthwhile. I'm actually at a loss as to what I expect to drop though. Maybe some clothing items. I believe I have every weapon in the game available for me to buy (I'm playing NG+ so there are about a dozen weapons available for me to just buy with blood echoes).
The extra damage is for gentlemanly-ness
No but seriously I have no clue why that might be.
Not sold on whip cane yet. Was my starting weapon, and I started feeling it more than at the beginning of the game. But it's a bit slower than the saw cleaver, which often results in taking damage on first hit for me, while I interrupt the monster attack with the saw cleaver.
I think the whip, instead of the cane, is going to be good on pvp, because they can't dash around you. Well, they can, but if you're still whipping your whip you'll still hit them. But again, I would've liked a bit more speed on it.
But I'm curious how you handle it, but it takes some getting used to. I think the saw cleaver is easier because on 'short mode' you can just spam R1 and interrupt most attacks.
You may or may not know this but when you drop a msg on the floor, after you have chosen your words hit L1 and choose a gesture.

I didn't realize you could do it until as friend told me, pretty neat.
Just about to beat the game (I know because I helped my coop partner, which put him to NG+ >_>).
Here are some things I can't quite figure out:
- How to get behind the gate right outside the beginning area
- What to do in (late game spoilers)- Where the hell are the covenantsthe dark area that unlocks after beating the Nightmare's Host
- Where to get the Short Ritual Root Chalice
If anyone could provide info (hints preferred to answers) it'd be much appreciated!
My notebook is always grayed out / dark and i dont get many if any messages, Shoddy servers right now maybe? I do play online :SYou may or may not know this but when you drop a msg on the floor, after you have chosen your words hit L1 and choose a gesture.

Yes.
Are there covenants? There weren't any in Demon's Souls were there?

my emotes list seems to show how I can make gestures on the touchpad to perform these emotes, but I can't ever get this to work. what am I missing?

Yes.More spoilers about them.A guy who worked on the guide. A German Spy I believe, said that there were 3.One is the Vilebloods in Cainhurst and one covenant opposes them and there is also another.
Man, using new weapons after having gained lots of experience with old ones is a whole new ballgame
I'm getting owned with theHoly Blade
Are you new to From games, by any chance? ^^Well, there is an enemy that drains your Insight.
Fucking lost like 8 with its stupid massive range lock-down spell.
I can't believe From would put an enemy that would do that with no way of getting it back.
All these people on NG+ that aren't saying you can turn into a beast![]()
Better scaling with skill?
Turning into beast form is a lot more specific than turning werewolf ,the beast claws which are effected by beasthood transform into bigger more hairy hands and the beast status is on you and lowers unless you attack things to keep it up, we have not got much at the moment so that might be all for beasthood right now, not too much solid info i found
There are covenants, but are pretty much hidden and takes effort to find.

Huh. Interesting. Guess being part of the launch zeitgeist means I will miss this kind of stuff everyone will know about in a few weeks like the Darkwraiths in Dark Souls.
Just beat Father G. My first boss. Took me three tries. The first time I got caught kind of off guard by the final form and stunlocked to death.

Trying out new weapons is a HUGE part of the replay ability for me. latter dungeons depthshalf your health and have ludicrous enemy mobs. Bosses you have fought before in the chalice get stronger and get new gimmicks and some of the main bosses actually get to show off their tricks with their higher health , and the most secret of secret bosses only appears in the latter tier chalices
IA the spear saw skill or strength based? I have an equal amount of both, but after the third boss I figured I'd need to know which direction to go not to waste blood echoes
Any tips on beating him, facing him now.
