Rude to quote myself, but I think my question was missed in this fast moving topic lol.

Anyone know?

I've looked into this on a few other fora as well. I think you need the crow quest line. I decided killing her because a few reports said that they couldn't find her after you meet her the first time no more. Takes quite a lot of souls to buy the weapon though; not sure if this is the same when you get her quest.

Reposting on the new page for great justice!

Just about to beat the game (I know because I helped my coop partner, which put him to NG+ >_>).

Here are some things I can't quite figure out:

- How to get behind the gate right outside the beginning area Answered, thanks Rurunaki!
- What to do in (late game spoilers)
the dark area that unlocks after beating the Nightmare's Host
- Where the hell are the covenants
- Where to get the Short Ritual Root Chalice

If anyone could provide info (hints preferred to answers) it'd be much appreciated!

Just kill crow dude.

Nooo, I like her :D

After you get 10 insight she appears again
where you fight Father G. You help her kill another hunter and you get a new gesture.

Don't know where she appears 3rd as of yet.

Ready for another day of play *rubs hands excitedly*

This game has really got its hooks in me, it's all I can think about when I'm not playing

I haven't defeated or met the cleric beast but I defeated the other boss father something. Should I go back to the area and find the cleric beast?

I've been rocking the cane/whip blade since I started and found it very useful. Then I was able to buy the hunter's axe and my life changed. That's a man's weapon right there, all those ogre guys with bricks and club as well as that knight with the huge axe are all fodder against the hunter's axe.

And the animation of the enemy when they get hit by the axe feels so good.

Brought Ludwigs Holy Blade to +5 immediately. This weapon is awesome.

Backtracking after killing the witch boss is a great farming spot, goodbye Central Y. The fat cleaver guys always drop vials, and the regular enemies have a decent chance. Got a few blood gems.

Rune to get more echoes is nice. I got really excited for one that lets me hold more vials but it only lets me hold 1 more. Better than nothing, but maybe there's a better rune later

Done for the night I think. I'm up to the last boss, and now I'm just doing some grinding and tying up some loose ends before heading into NG+. Still nowhere near bored of this game.

yeah I honestly can't muster up any excitement to get back to that

I've even done co op and got him down to quarter health only for him to pull that shit

Have you
equiped clothing with high poison resistance?
I also find
if you just stand really close to him at all times while locked on and dodge diagonally forward when he attacks (to the side of whichever arms he is attacking with) you can always get behind him and you almost never get hit.

They are very well hidden. One is in
Cainhurst
There are
a total of 3, but we have very little info on the other two.
.

While notes appear correctly in my game, whenever I press on to see how some poor folk died, nothing happens... is this an issue for eveyrone?

Holy shit the
Vicar
fight is fucking amazing, she's been the 4th boss for me and she's my favourite so far i think. I just got her to about half health on my third go and
then she healed lol.
.

I played for about 20inutes this morning and good god is the frame rate atrocious. The game is gorgeous and the mechanics are sublime, but wow that frame rate barely sits at 30 for more than a few seconds.

Really looking forward to pouring myself into this game next week.

Took me about 30hr and it seems I missed a bunch. Unless you are doing some mad skipping, no. :)

Why don't you kill the spiders for each stage? They never respawned for me.

That's the very first thing I tried for the next ten attempts after my first death.
When I try doing that, I am constantly getting hit by his ice crap, or having to dodge to avoid getting hit, which then forces me to look for another spider that's a better target, which then leads to either getting hit or more dodging etc.

Also, I don't know if it's a bug or what, but every time he teleports now, he doesn't just summon adds around him, he summons a huge pile off to the side too, which cuts off part of the map. Because if you get too close, then they too start swarming.

I have it at +9 with 30 in skill and I'm happy. What I don't understand is that with a certain sword I have, where the number stats are higher (tried without gems to even it out) it hits for less than my cane, even though it's +9 also.

It may be for a multitude of reasons. For every weapon in the old Souls games there is base damage and scaling damage, and of these, some weapons have different damage types. If you're used to souls games though you'll probably know that. However, it may be that the damage is split elementally. Some weapons may split damage between multiple types like physical and magic damage. When damage is split between two types, it usually does less damage than the sum of the two numbers because damage in the souls games has increasing returns.

Example:
Regular Sword: 150 physical damage.
Fire Sword: 75 physical damage, 75 fire damage.
The fire sword would do less damage in general against enemies with similar resistances to physical and fire. However, where it comes in handy is against enemies weak to fire but strong against physical damage.

Other reasons it may be different damage is that one weapon may be doing slashing damage and the other may be doing piercing damage. If you've played Demon's Souls, it's kind of like the miners in Stonefang Tunnel. They take fuck all damage from slashing attacks with swords, but take a lot of damage from piercing weapons like spears, rapiers and arrows.

How many hour did it took you to beat it... I am fascinated how people are finishing this game in a matter of days. it will take me a month or so. :/

Nicely done, you know how to work that hammer.

------------

Question: does anyone know what the hell that blue-looking-orb-that-turns-into-a fist-and-grabs-you is right where you find the top hat after Odeon Chapel.

Thanks. I do feel the hammer is underutilized in this game. People are gravitating to the axe and saw blade and that's a shame.

I found one that gives 3 extra but I don't remember where. Been doing the forest &
lecture hall
. Kinda tempted to level arcane now and try out that
slug that summons "something"

One of the UK retailers, The Game Collection, is now actually out of stock for preorders (pretty rare these days?)

I got the dispatch but my flatmate didn't :( They say they only got half of their stock today and getting more on Thurs.

Mine still hasn't been dispatched, it's disappointing after getting Type 0 two days before release from them last week.

If it's still not shipped after today I guess I'll have to cancel it and buy it from an actual retail store for £55. I haven't walked into a video game store in years...

So here I am at work and all I can do is think how awesome this game is. I don't want to spoil myself so I only stick to this thread.

I'll be busy tonight, but going to spend the entire weekend to get into NG+ and beyond. It's going to be incredibly difficult to go back to Dark Souls 2: SOTFS when I play it later in April.

EDIT:
I feel like I'm really falling behind you guys. This is going to take me a good long while to get through :p

It's not really about speed tbh or how fast you clear it. Enjoy the experience as much as possible. It's amazing.

Well good morning everyone :D

I made barely any progress yesterday only playing for about 2 hours, roamed around old yharnham and got to
some dude in a tower shooting a gatling gun at me, got scared ran back to hunters dream and closed the game for the night haha. Will try to get to the 3rd boss today, and hopefully beat his ass.

Is it possible to complete the main story line without beating the
Shadow of Yharnam
fight in the
Forbiden Forrest
?

Everytime I go through the fogwall to the boss my game slows down to 1 frame per second making it impossible to complete the fight. Upon death Im sent back to the lamp post, were everything runs like normal again 100% including the other areas and boss fights.

Its a digital copy and I already tried deleting the game and redownloading with no success.

My question is, can I complete the main storyline or do I have to start over with the hopes of this not happening again

This thread has way more spoilers than the spoiler thread had.
And almost no one uses spoiler tags.

I got the hunter's set, died a couple of times fighting those werewolves on the bridge,

Fought the cleric beast, went pretty well until the camera made me disoriented and i died. Tried it again and screwed up and died because a dog bit me in the ass. And i liked it. :)
That is a Souls game, you die but you get up again and try again! Also, most of the time i died it was my own damn fault.

Unfortunately it is a required boss. :(

I think I lost my chance to get a armor set.
Where do you find the crow lady? I found her the first time, and got the cape gesture, but can't find her again. A friend told me she's fighting another hunter where Father G was, but they're not there. Also, I just got to the Unseen Village.

I was playing mostly with the saw cleaver, but tried the axe for fun and it's OP as fuck. The charging attack with the 2hand version destroys anything, even bosses, it's a double circular attack with great range and even knockdown bosses. I just beat a boss doing just that attack over and over.

Sorry for the newbie question but, if I finish the game will I'll be able to start again at higher difficulties preserving all my stats and items collected? This is one of the things that I loved about Diablo and kept me coming back all the time. If this is not possible, what do you guys recommend me to do to replay the game? Because until know I'm absolutely loving it and I'm definitely looking forward to do a second even more brutal run.

Wow that sucks. I think you need to beat them to progress.

After killing Vicar Almeria, when returning to Hunter's Dream, you won't be able to teleport anymore to the Tomb of Oedon, the reason is because she's fighting a hunter at that precise moment where the lantern is. You'll need to find your way back to the cemetary where you fought Priest Cascoigne from another lantern point.

3rd encounter:

Then later on when you beat the Spider Boss, you'll find her again outside of the Grand Cathedral. That's when you'll receive the Badge of the crow.

Yes, if you finish the game you can start NG+ (New Game Plus) which will increase in difficulty for every subsequent playthrough up to a maximum of NG+7 iirc. There may be new enemies and even harder encounters, but I can't say for sure as I haven't progressed that far yet.

I suggest you take your time to explore before moving on to avoid missing something.

Sigh, game needs a map, I have to find the cleric beast but have not much of an idea to where he is.
spawn in the center of town. hopefully you have opened the gate in front of you to the left. if you have then go through there. kill the one guy at the top of the stairs. enter the house at the bottom of the stairs. go up the stairs in the house. go out the door upstairs. at the top of those steps, turn left down the bridge. the cleric beast is right past the fat bald troll.
