Has anyone been able to summon someone to help without using a password? Waited for a while at the third boss then just ended up killing it myself, now tried to use it at the 4th boss and still haven't been able to get anyone. Maybe I'm just bugged?

Are you at a weird level for your boss? Like do you feel over or under leveled? I've had no problems finding people to help in the early parts of the game. It's harder now, towards the end though.

So, like, I want a mode where I can return to bosses I've beat previously and fight them whenever. No, not co-op. I just want to do the fights again w/o restarting / NG+.

At what point does this become available in the shop? Haven't been upgrading the Kirkhammer since I'm planning to go Broadsword.

You have to get the badge from the
Healing Workshop
. It's at the top up a set of ladders. Then it costs 20,000 echoes

Unless the second half is a mixed bag like Dark Souls was, this will probably end up being one of my favorite games of all time

Simply amazing

Yeah, I have not seen any Lost Izalith type shit here. Or any Black Gulch type of low points from Dark Souls II. The level design, atmosphere, art direction and new gameplay puts it above the Souls series for me thus far. That's including Demon's Souls.

Where does one get the first chalice? I've killed the first two bosses and haven't seen it, just now beginning Old Yarnheim or whatever it's called, lol.

Spoiler tag just in case...
So I was speaking to a fellow hunter in the area just past the sewers, out on what seems to be a balcony, and I accidentally attacked her. She started fighting back and I ended up killing her. Is she/it/whatever a recurring character, or have most of you done the same?

I did the same :(, do we need her or is she/he just talking ?

change your network settings from "local" to "wordwide". I've been consistently summoned within a minute or so around the third boss.

Not cheap at all. The thingy reminds him of his past and he staggers. WARNING. Do NOT use it more than twice during initial form and ONCE during second transformation. IT doesn't help a lot but gives you that opening you need

When you use the box there is no parry as he grabs his head and staggers. Do a R2 charge attack during these times. I got him so close last night, down to a sliver of health 3 times and finally had to go to bed. Tonight, he dies by my axe.

I don't mean cheap in that way. It fits perfectly with the story and makes complete sense. I was just worried it would make the battle too easy. Hearing your experience though, I think it's still a difficult encounter and the music box has quite a limited number of uses.

I'm at level 34 while at the 4th boss. Probably a bit overleveled? I'm not sure.

Already is :(.

Am I suppose to do that? Sound kind of cheap.
His beast form does seem impossible to me, though. He just won't stop harrasing me.

Forget parrying at this point in the fight and forget about playing defensively. What worked for me was rolling toward him when he charged me. This usually resulted in me behind him with a couple of seconds to either poke him with my sword a couple of times or heal. I died at this stage several times because I was approaching his beast form the same way as the other parts of the fight. Killed him easily once I switched up my tactics.

I'm getting this vibe a lot in reviews. In level design, atmosphere and gameplay it's the best of the souls series, but in build and weapon variety it's the worst... Interesting

According to fextralife, the starting pistol has 20 more points of damage than the sexy gun I want (Evelyn). However, The pistol caps at A scaling with Bloodtinge, and Evelyn goes up to S. You guys think the scaling will bump up the damage of Evelyn enough to beat the pistol at around 25 Bloodtinge? This game has so many cool weapons that I don't know what to level up or if I'll have the materials to max all the ones I wanna test out.

This game is insanely good. I'm even dreaming about it.

12 hours in (take an hour away because sometimes I leave it on and browse GAF :P) and 2 bosses down. I am taking my sweet time exploring everything.

Love reading all the stories here and watching the streams (Yoshi :p )

Oh, it doesn't do much. It literally just staggers him for a couple seconds. The guy is probably not THAT hard in the overall scheme of things but I'm one of those who are not just learning the new melee moves but trying to break my muscle memory of the souls games past. I've gotten him sooooo close 3 times now. Keep at it. I hope you are victorious as I will be tonight!

Why do people play this Co-op ?

I understand this game is very hard but that's one if the rare games that gets difficulty right.

If you play this coop and sail through every boss in minutes then you're BUTCHERING the game.

It should be interesting when I return to Dark Souls II with Scholar of the First Sin. I imagine that I am gong to be trying to instinctively quick-step and will end up going light as possible, with no shield. I will probably be even better at it as well. The fast pace of Bloodborne is just beautiful.

I know it's early, but this game is already one of my favourite games of all time. The world is beautiful, the mechanics are so well designed and engaging, the world is beautiful and meticulously designed, the enemies are tons of fun to fight. The way that the game slowly teaches you through scenario design is impeccable, you don't even realize that it's doing that, it's that well integrated. Like the bonfire area, it pushes you to be stealthy and to lure enemies out. Or the one dead end with the troll, he's there to kill you a few times until you get good at dodging and shotgun countering. Just brilliant design.

This is the first game that justifies my PS4 purchase completely, just like GTA3 did for PS2 and Uncharted did for PS3. It took a while, but it was worth the wait.

I've never been a PvP player, so obviously my opinion counts for very little here, but I prefer a smaller choice of notably different weapons and armours than the Dark Souls 1 "here's a bunch marginally better, frequently dropped equipment".

Thanks a lot for this :) where can I get a good supply of antidote from?

You can always buy it from the merchant in the Hunter's Dream, which is probably the easiest way to get them just from farming souls. I remember picking up a lot during clearing out the Old Yarnham area from enemies, but I can't remember which ones dropped them, I think it was the taller ones in the white cloth with the red eyes that scream if you get too close (and can also poison you). If you already cleared that area, you might have some in your inventory/stash back in the Dream.

I have Tonitrus at +5 also and I really like that too. That was my favorite weapon for a few hours until I discovered Ludwigs. It just feels like a very nice vanilla utilitarian weapon that has my favorite moves from Souls games greatswords and longswords in one weapon. I probably use the transformed version more, but the split is more even than the axe, where I almost always used it two handed.

I'm pretty excited to try it out. I only used the 2h axe up until Tonitrus, so its been difficult to adjust to a mace since I lost the range and saftey the 2h axe gave me.

People should be able to play the game they want to. I love helping people in co-op that may be stuck or too frustrated. Using something that is intentionally put in the game is not butchering it IMO.

We will succeed!

I think there's a lot of worth in a tighter pool of unique weapons as opposed to hey this sword is cool oh wait it has the same moveset as my current one but it's worse in every way

It's fun and not everyone wants to spend hours trying to beat a boss. Plus I enjoy helping others.

I've avoided summoning in Bloodborne so far, but helping people is such a great way of getting to know a boss's attack patterns in a low-risk environment. I've always played Souls games that way, I'd really miss it if it were gone.

You get the sense that they wanted to give Bloodborne it's own identity, instead of just making another Souls game that follows the exact same formula. Now we have two amazing franchises that are within the same framework, but vary in their own ways.

No, you do not have the build variety where you can be a mage, archer, heavy knight, rogue or whatever. But there are plenty of weapons with their own styles and great outfits to use within the gameplay structure provided. Which again, I feel is a step above the Souls series.

She's a covenant leader IIRC, so you can't do her quest now or join it. The rewards for joining are the same as the stuff from killing her but you also get a gesture and a rune IIRC. Plus the covenant of course

And apologies if it's been asked a million times, but do we know the level range for co-op? My friend and I think it's +/- 15 now but we're not sure.

I am so dumb. I couldn't figure out how to equip my weapons at the very start of the game. I thought maybe it was a glitch, or something...I tried discarding them to see if maybe I could equip them after obtaining them off the floor....lol.

I'm with you, this is my own journey. I could see myself do multiplayer after I've beaten the game.

I did Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 solo, not giving in now.

How do I cash in stuff like
the madman's thing
from the sewer to get insight? Or the consumables that are supposed to turn into blood echoes?
