In most souls games, scaling like that is more useful when you have like, 40-50 points in the relevant stat, basically because they aren't hit quite as badly when you go past the stat soft caps.
Good to know that some weapons scale well with bloodtinge though. When I looked at the wiki it was saying they always scaled D >.<

Bloodtinge build here I come.

Bloodtinge is really awesome. I deal a nice chunk of damage with the pistol only at +3. Combine that with the Bonedust ( I think that's what it's called) and you can one shot some enemies. I wanna level Skill and Bloodtinge to 40 but if I do that, I'll end up being like level 140 if I wanna have decent health and stamina (30 Vit and En). Has a general consensus been reached as to what the best soul level for online is?

In some cases you could watch people beat the boss for you and do little effort.

Pretty sure its not meant to be that way ,but to each their own.I guess

its the same problem for games like monster hunters. 4 ppl can maul down most monsters so quick and easily its night and day compared to solo.

but i guess in the end ppl played how they like.

If people prefer to co-op through the game, then more power to them. I enjoy doing both. There's fun to be had in both exploring and finding secrets on your lonesome and with friends.

If the "right" way to play the game is to solo it, then why have the option to co-op in the first place?

I'm going to play this solo unless friends need help or I need help. I think that's the best way to play. Play however you have the most Fun. There is always NG+

Is the game getting harder as you progress?
I noticed some enemies have buffs on their weapons. They didn't before.

Another doubt:
I was fighting one of the cane guys when a "bag man" appeared out of nowhere. Never happened again. These bag men are from the prison. Are they trying to take me back?

So I was wandering around carefully, getting further than I've ever gotten before on one life and I made it all the way to the
pig in the sewers
. After killing it and ascending this long ladder I happened to notice on the left, I snuck past some unfriendly looking creatures, then up some stairs. I saw some open area ahead and had a general bad feeling that I probably should backtrack...but I kept creeping forward, then BAM -
CUTSCENE
.

I had just initiated the
Father
boss fight. I kept hearing about the
Cleric beast
as the 1st boss encounter, so I totally wasn't expecting this. I guess I completely missed boss #1 somehow. I took about half of his health before dying and subsequently lost all my blood echoes on trip back there. ARG THIS GAME!

You took the long route, have you fought with the two wolves on the bridge? at the end of that bridge is the first boss. And don't forget to open the shortcut through the house below that bridge.

For the second boss you might have passed through another bridge where a troll throw you a ball fire, just before that bridge at the left side of the stairs there's an elevator, that's a shortcut to the Father Gascoigne. Activate it!

The armor? Find (enemy + what to do ->)
one of those cloaked enemies that carry a bloody bag over their shoulder and let him kill you
, then (location->)
you should appear in a new area, explore it, the armor is somewhere outside
.

Not being too direct, it's an awesome thing you should explore yourself.

Yeah, I have been to
Yhar'Gul
, but quickly got the hell out after I found the lamp, lol. I can warp there now from a headstone, so time to go back, I guess.

Bloodtinge build here I come.

I'm debating between a Bloodtinge build or Arcane. Bloodtinge would mean I would just end up using the sexy pistol and Chikage. Won't be able to swap around weapons.

I'm also debating between Arcane to be able to utilize more items and have a the holy great sword and flamethrower

Why do people play this Co-op ?

I understand this game is very hard but that's one if the rare games that gets difficulty right.

If you play this coop and sail through every boss in minutes then you're BUTCHERING the game.

The difficulty is great and all, but I play these games for the combat and enemy and world design. If I just wanted a challenging but fair game I'd just go play Ninja Gaiden Black or something.

I've completed Demon's and Dark through at least NG++ and co-op has always been one of my favorite parts of these games. Having a group of people running through these areas while there's an invader on the loose in a mad dash for the boss is something you can't replicate solo. And yeah, it might make some bosses a joke, but it's not like people don't find ways to exploit or cheese them in solo (already been done for Father G). Plus, it feels good to help other people.

Good god, the second boss fight is beautiful as fuck. I want to keep fighting this boss over and over again….it's so badass.

I love this game. I am at work. And I can't focus because all I can think of is this damn game.

For maximal experience: first play-through solo

Several people have suggested that the more Insight you have, the more things appear.

Cause it's more fun. And, you know, I think game's are supposed to be fun.

Thanks for telling me that I'm playing it wrong, though.

e: i agree that everyone should give playing the solo a try first, you can't know which way you like more before you try them all

but stop telling me how to play

Finally reached Father G. for the first time last night, Got to take away about half of his Energy before he killed me, I am really liking the fast paced combat on this game.

Yes, combat is on point. Love that you need to be aggressive. Found the shield, equipped it for a second and went back to my blunderbuss.

Father G is my nemesis and once he dies from my axe (tonight) I never want to see his funky graveyard smelly ass again!

Yep. Along side the new gameplay, level design, art and atmosphere, the boss fights are yet another area where I feel it is even better than the Souls series.

I think they just appear after you get to a certain point. I'd never seen one, but as soon as I killed BSB they appeared all over, even in the chalice dungeon. I only have like 1 insight atm though.

Just finished the P
thumerian Labyrinth
chalice, I think, since I beat the W
atchdog of the Old Lords and opened a coffin.
Beat the first boss of the next chalice, but
it was just...an enemy I've fought before underneath the cathedral
. So many chalices.

Huh, good think I've held off on cashing in those skulls that give you insight. My guideline has been not to use shit until I know what the hell it does and I have a need for it.

This is their fourth game with the exact same system. If it wasn't meant to be that way, it wouldn't be that way.

A subtle feature (not bug) of Souls design is that the difficulty level is infinitely customizable in-game. You can viably beat the games without ever leveling up. You can find a boss slightly too hard and put a couple more points in VIT and finals eek out the win. And you can say "fuck this!" and summon someone into your game to get past something you're not having fun with.

All of this is acceptable and fun and part of what makes the games highly replayable.

From Software are Berserk fans, aren't they? Anyone notice the Hunter's Mark symbol?

There are a dozen or so allusions or blatant homages to Berserk all over the three Souls games, so yes, yes they are.

Finally had some time to play last night. Still at the beginning but did alot of exploring and just taking in the atmosphere. I'm definitely liking it over the DeS. From absolutely nailed the setting.

Combat really feels great. Camera is kinda jank but that's par for the course. Can't wait to get further along!

Does anyone know how Frenzy works? I stopped trying to complete the
Nightmare World or whatever it is outside the Byrgenwerth Lecture Hall
because of the creatures there that cause it. It seems to build up on sight, and continue building even after I kill them, and then one hit me even after I changed to frenzy resist gear. Maybe I need more health. I read something that said you might take more damage from it with more insight too? Should I try to shed some insight, I'm at 33 at the moment.

Soo just double checking- I basically skipped the Cathedral area, and am in the machine gun zone. Am crushing through these enemies. Should I finish the Cathedral Area, or just keep pushing on?

The area you're in is optional so you can do it if you want, but if you struggle on the boss don't hesitate to go do the Cathedral.
