So what is Madman's Knowledge? Should I just equip it and use it immediately? Also how often do you guys use the Coldblood Dew? Do you save them?

It gives you insight which is used to summon others to help you and buy items from a special vendor.

You do not lose insight when you die so I have just been using the madmans knowledge as soon as I find it.

HOWEVER apparently there are enemies that drain your insight so it sounds like its smart to not use the knowledge until you need to use the insight it gives you

how come most reviews don't mention (or gloss over) the lack of gear/builds in the game? it's not an afterthought or a knitpick -- it's a major negative, IMO.

Im not sure what to do now. Im currently in
Old Yarham. Defeated the machine gun guy. I just picked up the ritual blood on the altar. I have searched everywhere in this area. What am I missing?

Past the altar is a hallway. Take it out back into the open and then take a right, then right again. (note: there's a ladder near the second right that opens a shortcut. Ok, going on...) follow this path at it'll lead you down onto the street level.

I was finally able to kill the second boss. Too bad PS4 didn't record that match since it was pretty damn intense:

I didn't use the music box against Father Gascoigne, as I thought it was too slow. I got lucky with three staggers and was able to get his health to 1/5 before the transformation. Then I got really scared, and just stayed the hell away and spammed throwing knives. He nearly got me in the end, but luckily I was able to get the last few hits before

Does anyone have/know what stats are scaled with a 10+ chikage? I am really debating between an arcane or bloodtinge build right now. But I want to use chikage but I might give up on that goal. The holy blade is good for an arcane build.

That gets A scaling with bloodtinge so go with that if you want it.

Because its too earl y to call it like that?

The game has barely matured. How do you know every possibly gameplay combination already to make that judgement?

I think after you finish the game and get into NG+ you'll see the game open up build wise. You're right though, it's pretty weak for the first play through. But variety reviewers aren't exactly the people to look to for that kind of in depth criticism i think.

WAiting 25 minutes searching for someone to help with Father Gascoigne and it never finds anyone.

I found someone once within 10 seconds the first time, but ended up dying.

Now I've wasted two insight (Cancelled one search thinking the network was messed up) and now I've waited 25 minutes on a second search and still nothing.

Is the system wonky?

I found people really quickly for father G yesterday. There's a mini boss after father G that i needed help with and couldn't find anyone near him ringing the bell, i even waited like 20 mins. I chose to take a different path to a new area and found 2 people and had them follow me back to the mini boss and we took him out, and even proceeded to take out the 3rd boss after that. Absolutely loved the teamwork. Let the bell ring and go off and do something else i guess until you find people

edit: If it helps any, i took him down with molotovs and the gun parry on my own. His human form is easy imo but the transformation is tough and that's when i would parry and chuck molotovs in his face.

Guys, need some help. I'm at the part where the turret keeps shooting at me. After I went down the stair, I see there are two rooms on the left. One room is filled with hooded beast and and walking beasts. Is this the right one? I dont want to keep running around and get turret shot ;_;

I don't get the blood vial complaints. I have my equipped maxed at 20 and I keep finding more from enemies, I am up to 42 stocked in my storage (for 62 total) and it keeps growing. I have not farmed for them at all.

Same, but I'm the opposite where I'm obsessively trying to hoard them now for no discernible reason. I'm nearly topped off with both vials and bullets in storage, at around 80 or 90 lol. I buy vials semi-periodically, and the bullets I just don't use as often as I pick them up.

Damn, the
forest
really flipped the script on my one issue with the game: build variety.
It's also one of the more non-linear areas in the game. I literally got lost.

There's a damn cannon! Also a new, and awesome clothing set that's really well hidden called Graveguard. To get the mask, you literally have to lunge over a canyon. lol

I don't even think I'm at the half way point yet... What started out as an awesome game somehow keeps getting better. How Miyazaki?!

Blood tinge for the Chikage. And it's fucking badass.

Don't know for sure, but I think bloodtinge.

Thanks. Chikage looks cool as hell but I don't know how realistic it would be if just focused in Bloodtinge, I will only be able to use 1 weapon skillfully and the lackluster pistols.

That gets A scaling with bloodtinge so go with that if you want it.

I was hoping for A scaling with Arcane also.

Wait so Co Op partners stay with you even after a boss is killed?

How does the Co Op work? Is there no limit to how long you can play together?

Been a crazy week at work but I was finally able to get an hour in last night before bed.

First thing I did was build to 2500 echoes and buy that hunter armor. Combat gameplay just feels so damn satisfying--those transform combos feel great and do great damange (using the saw blade).

I'm definitely going to build my endurance as much as I can in this game.

I've been fine until the third boss, I had to farm afterwards since i had 7 left.

I'm doing it myself, I loved the Makoto sword from demonsouls and this is pretty much the same thing. Having guns hit a lot harder than other people expect will be fun too.

Alright...Father Gascoigne tips for those that suck as badly as I do.

I did this at level 17 - +2 Threaded Cane - Professional

I also had the
Music Box

I found him first and not the
Cleric Beast
. i was told about the other boss the previous day and I thought I would go try that first but when I got home, I was like...nah. Fuck that. I'm going to beat this guy.

So...

Patience.
Forbearance even.

Go in with 20 blood potions
Go in with 20 bullets
Go in with at least 4 molotovs

Keep your distance from "Father". Learn his moves and then R2 with your firearm. Run in...L1. Do a massive amount of damage. You only need to do this twice...sometimes once to get him to go to the next phase.

This one, he two-hands his axe.

Put distance between him and you...use the gravestones for cover and use the music box. When he's stunned, run up to him and stab him...a lot. Then run away!

Repeat until he transforms. (Usually only three times)

When he transforms. Run away! Run up the stairs and wait on the wall up there. When he crests the top of the stairs, target him with a molotov. Then run away again. Run off the ledge onto the roof of the building below. Then drop off that. Run back up the stairs and repeat. Shouldn't take more than 3 molotovs.

Or...just summon someone to help. I spent last night helping guys afterwards. Helped five people and it was so satisfying to burn him down in record time.

Co-op partners from what i've seen leave after a major boss fight. After we took out the 3rd boss, the 2 players left my game at the same time. I noticed it happened with father G yesterday when i had a co-op player help me. We were able to explore the town for a really long time but once the boss was killed they left. I think its just something the game does, not so much the players quitting out.

Ok so its identical to previous games then
