I have the OVA in my backlog since forever, I guess now it's a good time to finally watch those episodes.

Jotaro is a high schooler, even though he is quite beefy. Oingo is in his twenties, even disguised as Jotaro.
yes, that's what I assumed. nonetheless it's still stupid.

Is Iggy this useless in the manga too up to this point? Maybe it's the quicker pace of the OVA that made him seem like he wasn't a non-entity. :P

Not until another fight does he become useful in the manga they've made him stand out a lot more in the anime which is pretty good so this has more meaning:

The TV anime has clearly beefed up Iggy's character by adding multiple scenes where he farts in people's faces.

I wouldn't say the OVA had a quicker pace, it just skipped entire episodes. Iggy is involved in very few fights, coincidentally two of them were portrayed in the ovas.

Well I mean, Iggy is just a dog. Why would he be involved in the concerns of humans?

It makes perfect sense to me.

Iggy is awesome. The fact that he's a rebellious dogs that gives no shit about the whims of his master just makes him all the more cooler. He doesn't contribute a lot in the beginning, but when he does, it's easily one of my favourite moments in SC.

Haters gonna hate.

It's not that I hate him. He just hasn't done shit outside getting launched at N'doul. He has an interesting stand too.

Loved that episode. Look at that fucking Ace Attorney breakdown.

For reference, here's the original climax of the Barby fight:

Wow, that's from the OVA? That looks amazing compared to some of the stuff I've seen from the first half, all of the main characters look horrible, but D'Arby looks pretty cool.

Regarding Iggy, I feel like he's there to be the mascot character who may well save the day at a later date. P.S. This is not a spoiler because I haven't seen any further than the anime, so I actually don't know, but isn't that how it usually goes?

Yeah, I had never made the connection before, but it's true that D'Arby's breakdown looks just like what you'd expect from an Ace Attorney game, with the OVA version being way more satisfying even though the anime adaptation was still decent.

I think this kind of battle was one of the coolest ones so far because of how much it deviates from the standard formula of Jotaro & co. looking for an opening until they can punch their opponents into submission. Still, it's kind of weird how most of the enemy stand users in this arc aren't getting killed outright, but rather just hospitalized or rendered helpless. Is there any reason for this besides using it as a plot device like for next week's episode?

The OVA was created in two different decades. The first half, chronologically, was created in 2000 while the second half of the series was made in 1993 - 94. The second half was created and storyboarded and animated by far superior staff (such as Satoshi Kon).

I always see Kon as the common go to name when people list talent working on the OVAs is there anyone else notable?

Pretty ridiculous name though. I wonder how much he was actually involved and who else was a part of it, though too. The 90s OAVs are vastly superior.
There's a breakdown of what episodes everyone worked on on ANN. Don't have the list here. I know one of the episode directors/key animators from the OAV is working on the David Production version though.

The other name that pops into my head from the OVA is Mitsuo Iso, who would go on to animate such iconic scenes as the Mass Production Eva fight in End of Evangelion and Motoko's fight with the spider tank at the end of Ghost in the Shell. In Jojo, he does some of the best cuts in the final battle.

The ANN credits are confusing because nobody entering them can decide whether the episodes should be numbered in release order or in-show chronological order.

Ah, thank you very much. That is indeed quite a big name. The creator of Denno Coil.
