Beat the BSB after... I think like 7-8 attempts.

First boss ( well, it's only the 3rd ) that I literally went "hell yeah!" Those last 30% of its health was difficult to break.

BB has a loot problem that wasn't in any of the previous Souls' game.

Case in point: You could find the armour sets of almost every enemy in the previous games and dress up as them. Not really an option now, aside from a few bosses/NPCs. But the mobs you fight? Not so much.

I remember always looking forward to that next hidden chest or unlocked vendor because I could get armour that had a practical impact on my game. Not anymore.

I don't mind the lack of weapon variety as much (although I did stick with the axe for nearly all of my playthrough) but the above kinda killed some motivation to just keep going and search around the next corner.

BB isn't a Souls game–judging it by the loot system in the Souls games is silly. BB has tons of neat things absent from Souls.

I agree. People need to stop comparing them. They are totally different beast that focus and emphasize different aspects. Bloodborne is more of an Action RPG.

Just beat
Amygdala spent so long attacking it's legs for tiny damage because, well, that's what you do in Souls games, right? Kept my distance and attacked his head when I had the chance..600+ damage.

What is the difference between Physical DEF and Blunt/Thrust defense? Blunt and Thrust were listed as subset of Physical DEF, but how exactly do they relate with one another? Some armor has higher Physical DEF but lower Blunt and Thrust, which doesn't make much sense? I assume blunt means slash, and slash and thrust pretty much covers all forms of physical attacks, don't they?

Yeah, I know. But it's still an action-RPG. And I prefer mine to come with a little loot lust. And I don't think that expecting to be able to dress up as all the cool looking enemies is asking much. In fact, it was one of the more awesome aspects of Demons and Dark.

And honestly, it's a Souls game. It really is. There's crystal geckos. There's fog doors. There's bonfires. There's a You Defeated.

I get that it's trying different things, but the loot system wasn't something that needed tweaking. It was pretty much perfect in DkS and DkSII.

So, Amelia question.
I haven't been able to find a "clean" way of fighting her, like I did with F.G. and BSB. Is it really just about having 20 vials and slowly carwing her health of in small doses? Feels like I just can't dodge or parry my way out of damage.
I know I said I need a break, but I want her dead so bad!

Keep away from her front swipes and move in right after she does one of her
slam attacks.
Hit the
head
if possible, though
legs
are great targets too.

Okay first off fuck Frenzy. Man fuck that shit.

Second is why did they make all the arcane stuff so horrible? I wasted blood echoes to get some points in arcane to try out some of the magic stuff. Everything is terrible and uses way too much QS bullets. Like what the hell were they thinking.

Wow, finally beat father Christmas after about what felt like 15 trys. Dude was super easy until he hit
beastform
and then hed wreck me.

I learned to roll towards him as he attacked but my sweaty fingers kept slipping off these crappy rubber joysticks and screwing that up. Eventually my persistence paid off.

It's my 4th try and I still can't beat him, almost defeated him on my 3rd try though. Probably 2 more hits and he's dead but I died first :(

Be honest, how many of those loots did you really use? After I got my Knight armor, I never looked back. Bloodborne has me at least changing my armor to suit the weapon I'm feeling at that moment without worrying about attributes.

The armor to me are just for looking good in bloodborne seeing as there's no encumberance that will affect my dodging.

Edit: They could just easily parch in new armor sers as loot in Chalice Dungeons in the future.

When do I get the ability to use runes? I just beat
Vicar Amelia
on around the 4th try. Such an awesome fight. The bosses in this game have been super impressive. Reminds me of Demon's Souls level of fear-intensity

Thanks. Just beat Witch and that was a dead end so I have no idea where to go next then. Any hints?

Go back to cathedral where you fought Vicar Amelia. GO all the way down the stairs through the gate. You will end up in a round area with 2 large guys with the axes. go past fence on far side take a right go down stairs until you reach door that requires password. If you clicked on altar in cathedral after killing Vicar and had cut scene you will have password. Which will take you to next area The Forbidden forest.

Oh I agree, I did the same. But there was still more visual variety in the other games, and that's what I find lacking here. There's only so much variation of tattered robes in black/grey/white that I can take.

And yes, I also have the blood-orange set.

What was your strategy? Did you have Alfred?

No, I did solo.

Strategy for first 70% of his health was simple. Blunderbuss, Parry when he uses his right arm swing, visceral attack.

Last 30% was a game of chase-and-endurance with pillars. Switched to Hunter's Axe, run around him as much as possible, waiting for him to unleash his multi-hit combo or his static poison, and strike him/R2 him at the immediate opening. I missed a lot of times, because I was scared shitless to go too near him. And whenever there's an extra opening, I threw a Molotov or two.

Basically my main rule of engagement is to make sure I never get hit by the poison hug.

Well, I guess I hit my first real wall in this game, I've fought that
hunter in the grand cathedral
from the Eileen side quest like at least 10-20 tries and I can't seem to beat it. Any tips?

I read you have to fight her AFTER Rom to get it. Is that true?

Thanks. Some of these quests seem like there easy to mess up.

yes
only go there when the moon is orange and you can get it from her after killing her. it's not much of a fight. :)

i already messed up a bunch of sidequests from playing blind. been reading some stuff afterwards just to complete them. i'll be doing a more complete run in NG+ for trophies.

Really? I loved the direction it went in, I think it pulled it off better than most mediums do.

I liked the direction, but it went very souls-y

I was kind of interested in how well it could pull of a normal world gone to hell style, rather than...

well...a normal world literally going to hell lol

I'm having trouble with him as well. I hear there is some thing he does that will drain his health to bout 25% but i havnt seen it in any of my attempts

Yep, there is really no other way to beat her other than with attrition

You can cheese it.
Back off all the way to the entrance and he'll stop attacking and go back to his usual spot. If his katana is in its life-sucking mode, he'll never disengage it. Eventually he just kills himself.

That is a thing people should be able to realize but will get caught on the way they'll acquire them. It is slower to do in this game.
The weapon-system more than enough fills me with joy. That you can't cosplay as a mob enemy in the game is a thing that was cool in Dark souls, but this game was not meant as a carbon-copy of that series. The demand more cosmetic things could reach them easily and it's up to them how they wanted to make the game. The twist and turns and surprises you encounter are far greater than in previous games for me and made me super excited what the next big event would be.

Couldn't wait until morning. Rom defeated. What an asshole.

I saw people talking about a
Witch
. Did I miss her?

She is optional. When walking up to Cathedral and you can go left or right. Go left and go through some woods and you get a lamp for a new optional area. Forget the name of the area but I really enjoyed it youi should go do it cause its not to long and fun.

Ah so that's why I didn't get it. I had to kill my beautiful
Arianna and her ugly baby to get the one I was missing. Though killing her was an accident.

Does parry work on Amelia?

I don't think so. Visceral attack on her only works by hitting her hand several times. I don't know which hand though as I'm just hitting her rabidly until suddenly she kneeling down and can be visceral attacked. Stay on her left side (your right), that mostly her blind spot as she have longer hand on her other side.
