I feel that while Neil Davidge did a good job with more atmospheric music in Halo 4, KazJin did a better job with the thematic music. Songs like:
117
Sacrifice
Mantis
Majestic
and even the Halo E3 2013 trailer music

All have that framework thematically that Marty tended to use in his songs. It might not be iconic yet, but 117 and Sacrifice, in my opinion, are some of the most "HALO" songs that've emerged post-Marty.

Kazuma Jinnouchi has been working on the soundtrack. If Marty came on board it would be more of an assistant or advisory at this stage.

[Final Verdict]

Gods and Demons was amazing though. I still get chills when the Chief walks out of the dust and Marty's score starts playing.

In retrospect, I think the two are about on par.
Gods and Daemons had a fairly weak opening in my opinion, but the music helped it along a lot, and obviously the ending with the portal firing up was quite awesome.

I think the Halo 5 teaser beginning was a bit better, and the ending just as good, though the music was not quite as Iconic.....I did like the little bit they had though.

It is a lot different though....Halo 3 was all about him Finishing the Fight, where as here, his motivations are not quite as clear....we know Cortana is involved, but we don't know if he is trying to bring her back necessarily, or just trying to avenge her death.

Anyways, opinions I guess.

My man, totally agree. Kaz has the chops to pick up the baton. His tracks were the most successful in Halo 4 (117 mmmmmmm) and I have high hopes for his Halo 5 work.

Edit: Also that video has reminded me how damn good the Halo 5 beta was. No other shooter has felt as good since.

I recall reading somewhere that out of all the members of Blue Team, John wasn't the strongest, nor the most accurate, nor the fastest. Though he was the luckiest. Might be remembering wrong tho.

That's correct. That's why I'm not super thrilled about the whole destiny thing coming into play now. Chief had no single, quantifiable trait that made him the best. Despite all logic and science it all came down to luck, which is one of the things I found most interesting about him. It was fairly a unique twist for a hero. But now it's because the Librarian wanted him to be dope, so he is. Eh. I'm not super upset about it, but it's kind of Halo's midichlorians IMO.
