Halo 5 is releasing on October 27th, 2015

If it launches in October 27th, 2015, when do we think that online will work? Mid-Jan?

Dude, it's not trolling. MS and 343i played their cards with how their handled the remaster of their prestige franchise. MCC was a 343i game. They were responsible for the online and tying all the games together into a whole package. So yeah, it was in-house.

First of all, if you owned and played Halo 4 at launch then you would know it worked very well and no where near as bad as MCC. Whatever the reason why people don't like Halo 4 it certainly wasn't because it wasn't working. Halo 5 Beta worked for the most part considering it was almost a year out.

MCC was an out of house product that should've worked but for whatever the reason it didn't. I was just as annoyed as anyone else but i won't let that change from what i came to experience with Halo 4's launch.

Lmao, I'm done having the same downplaying argument with you in mostly every thread about Xbox One exclusives/Halo.

I don't downplay X1 exclusives though. I'm very much looking forward to QB, a new Forza, and whatever Gears stuff we get this year. The only thing I "downplay" is when I refer to them in sales threads which is an entirely different situation.

My issue with the Halo 5 beta was that it just doesn't feel like Halo anymore. I get that evolution is important to keep a series going but I think 343 has gone too far in changing the formula. As I said back during the thread, when I was playing it at times I'd just feel like playing CoD or Destiny instead because it couldn't hold my attention.

That said, this is solely my opinion, which is what I mean by it being debatable. Just like you found it great, I found it lacking and bothe are legitimate opinions. It'll be interesting to see how 343 takes the feedback they got but please do forgive me if I just have zero faith in them.

Unless I missed something, why should they be granted any level of trust?

10.27 gb, or 27th October.. We've known for months. It was right there infront of us.

So. Much. Salt.

Halo 4 was meh, and the story was a mess, but Locke seems to be a more compelling character than they made the Didact be. Also the story seems much more human and less convoluted (so far). Those are both wins in my book.

Cautiously optimistic here. Least we know the gameplay is decent since we actually got a beta this time.

I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt. I gave them that on TMCC and they lost any trust I would give them.

The setup could be cool. But consider me completely unconvinced until I see otherwise.

This looks stupid. Creating more and more Halo apparently means trying to squeeze anything from the "storyline".

I dunno, I'm actually getting Didact vibes. Overly dramatic and hammy dialogue, self important grandeur... Seems par for the course with 343 though.

Wtf is this supposed to be about? What has the MC done wrong?

supposedly good man/corporation is actually evil and makes MC look evil, sends out guy to kill MC, guy realises that MC is actually not evil, teams up with MC and takes down evil man/corporation, world is saved.

Oh I'm not arguing against caution, it's correct to be cautious after MCC and the mess that Halo 4's story was, but things look better at least. We've actually touched Halo 5 at this point, and their storytelling (at least through commercials and the small bit of content we've seen) has been much more straight-forward.

Kind of like the Prophets in Halo 1-3? :P

I get more ONI vibes from Locke than anything.

October 27th seems like a fine date to me.

I don't understand why people are assuming that Halo 5 will lose momentum by releasing that late in Oct. H4's population dropped because of how people felt about the game. What if Halo 5 ends up being a good game?

There is nothing to understand, just a bunch of people trolling the game.

Halo 5 must be doing something right, because people are coming out of the woodwork with every negative cliché from the past 4 years in this thread.

It means that making MC the villain or whatever they are trying to do, is stupid. Is that clear enough?

Makes sense now, but I think it's a super interesting twist. The ONI division has always had so much pull but been so corrupt in the lore. If that is finally brought to light for the masses in a mainline Halo game, it could make for one hell of a story.

Having you play as the hunter and the hunted is an incredible premise.

They're not wrong though. the population in this game will go down quick like 4 and the MCC. CoD and Battlefront will just be much bigger games and Halo doesn't have the pull it used.
You're not the only one so don't take this post personal...
The first two Battlefront games never did crazy sales numbers, just failing to see why a long awaited sequel would suddenly do 5 million plus.

What does this even mean?
They are forcing shit that doesn't work because they aren't creative enough to take the story in a new compelling direction that still remains faithful to the original source material. What we have here is a c-tier soap opera just like Halo 4 was.

To be fair, I love the gameplay in Halo 4 so I will keep my eye on 5 but will most definitely not preorder or buy near launch.

Maybe it's just a misunderstanding though rather than him being made the villain. Halo 4 may have been underwhelming as a package but at the very least the SP was okay, if forgettable. I wonder how long they'll keep the MC around

Holy shit dude. I mean, I get the caution after 4's mess of a story, but damn. We don't even know the story yet and it's a brand new writer.

Because Battlefield 2 didn't do crazy sales. The DICE games used to be incredibly PC centric.

Now it's a bonafide console blockbuster with Star Wars branding. That game will sell gangbusters.

Have mixed feelings about a late October release date.

It's better than November in terms of making the game get more attention when it launches but I'm worried about the online population -- especially if Call of Duty will release during the first week of November.

Despite a few people saying otherwise it is a legit concern witnessed by a bunch of us with halo 4.

Do people really believe Chief is bad guy? Yeah, ok. Its called Hunt the Truth. Locke is TOLD Chief is a traitor. No doubt he'll find him and learn said truth only to join the Chief. They'll take down ONI together.

Its also launching with a new star wars film which is a pretty big deal

What does Battlefield 2 have to do with Battlefront? Or even DICE?

the SP was much worse than the MP and that's saying something.
i have hope that they can fix the MP but going from making a horrible SP a good one? i don't think so.
