I beat all the optional bosses last night (tough mofos) and went through the first Chalice for the first time. Lots of progress. I decided to finally check a trophy guide last night and it seems I can try and get a lot of the trophies I'm missing before doing NG+. It appears a few require the Chalice which is a bit annoying.

Off the top of my head:
- Cleric Beast
- Old Yharnam and Blood Starved Beast
- The abandoned workshop
- Henwick Charnel Land and the witches
- Cainhurst Castle and Matyr Logarius
- Iosefka's Clinic
- Darkbeast Paarl
- Nightmare Frontier and Amigdala
- Upper Cathedral Ware, The Orphanage, Celestial Emissary and Ebrietas
- Gehrman and Moon Presence, depending on the ending you choose

Basically half of the game is optional :P
Yahar'gul, the Unseen Village is all totally optional, too.

In a near future, I will do coop with GAFers with boss challenge-runs.

Example:

GAFer#1 can ONLY parry BSB. GAFer#2 can ONLY riposte #1's parry.

etc.

Gonna be so fucking fun.

hate it when bosses do instant kills at the and of their hp bar

I got one boss down to a sliver of life twice and then he decides to use an attack that stunlocks me and takes out all my life. decided to ask a Gaffer for help to quickly destroy him since I got annoyed with the run back.

Is the little guy with the big Axe and armored up patrolling that little alley almost at the start of the game an optional Boss....? because I started fighting him around level 15 or so and went ooops, time to bail out and try him some other time lol...

Add me to the list of people beating BSB in the past half-hour. Only took four attempts, which isn't too bad.

I almost died of his poison after I killed him...I didnt notice I was stillpoisonned at first and was heading to the lamp and I got down to a sliver of health until I saw that and used an antidote after a quick blood vial lol...the 2 guys that helped me would of probably laughed their heads off seeing me die, although they dont stay in your game long once the Boss is defeated.

Not really because you have to go to that area later and fight
the one reborn

So, the Hunter
where you fight VA. Tips? Recommended level?
I tried the fight at level 55 and it was ridiculously hard. I made a post yesterday about how to cheese him:
Ok so for those of us that were complaining about a certain extremely difficult NPC hunter fight earlier,
the guy in the cathedral needed to complete Eleen's quest
, I came up with a way of cheesing him which I think should be fairly consistent and easy to pull off.

So once he agros to begin with immediately start backing up towards the stairs. The goal is to get him to enter his 2 handed mode which drains his health, I think if you stay close to him it makes him more likely to do it. Maybe get a few pokes in if you can. Anyway once he goes 2 handed continue backing up down the stairs until he degrees. Do NOT reagro him as this will likely cause him to switch back to one handed. Just keep backing up until you are outside the church doors. Since he's deagroed he doesn't switch stance so you can sit back for a minute or so and watch his hp drain down to zeo
.

Normally I am a real purist about not cheesing fights in these games but this one just feel unfair to me and I didn't feel bad at all. Fuck that guy

This has probably been asked a million times before, but should I go ahead and buy the key I need to open the gate near the cathedral? I was gonna explore old Yharnam first anyway and was hoping to find it there somewhere.

Also, does telling people to go to the cathedral for safety do anything, and what do I do with the music box?

Thanks

Anyone?

Gascoigne has ruined it for me....just can't do it. Not blaming the game, just my skills are just not upto the task. 8(

It was when he transformed that I truely struggled - took me maybe 6-7 tries.

first two stages I found quite easy, lock on and dodge behind when he attacks.

In the end I just molotoved the hell out the beast - felt cheap to win like that but I won.

I a chalice dungeon I just found the messengers which sold me, what seems to be a PvP oriented chalice (sinister Isz root chalice)

So cool these dungeons, and how they keep surprising me

I tried the fight at level 55 and it was ridiculously hard. I made a post yesterday about how to cheese him:

I actually did really well this second time, the Axes two handed dash attack is cheap as fuck. When he gets low on health his AI will seemingly try and hit with an attack that seals item usage. He kept doing it, I got comfortable and wanted to end it fast because I thought he was bugged. Then I get parried. RIP.

Level 61.

err how
without going through the unseen village you cant get to the reborn one, and without kiling him you cant get to the second floor of the lecture hall and into the nightmare of mensis

Huh. I must've mixed the entrances up. I swear I got to the second floor from the other spot.

Seems pretty weak so maybe not just for that. There are however other things that make an arcane investment worthwhile though

For bosses that are weak to fire it's great.
BSB
didn't stand a chance with this equipped. Not so much for use throughout the game though.
Yeah, it's great if you're going Arcane.

Throw some oil and then let her rip. It's purely for bosses and AoE farming though.
Thanks for answers! Might as well tried it out since i'm running out of molotovs really fast.

Answers below mate

The Music Box is
to use during the Father gascoigne fight, it stuns him for a bit, but if you over use it, maybe 2-3 times in a row he transforms into his beast state earlier (usually it will only happen around his last 10-15% health. You an use it during the fight but not necessary to win.

The key
you can buy it it opens a shortcut so it's handy but not essential if you struggle with blood echoes

The cathedral
is one of the safe places you can send certain NPCs you find throughout the game, the other one is Iosefka's clinic, up the stairs from the starting lamp. You get rewards for sending people to either one of those.

Call for help guys...the only Boss I defeated solo so far is the Cleric Beast...F G and BsB I couldnt do by myself and it took like 1 minute with help...2 of us for Father and 3 of us for BsB...I know sometimes it takes time but got to be patient...listen to some Spotify music while waiting ;)

Never saw that Music Box thing everyone talks about and I am after the BsB part...I am in the area where you get grabbed by that hand, didnt go to a prison like some say though, opened up a bunch of gates with the devices and without realising winded back to the lamp near the old lady which is right after the Father G fight...scratched my head there lol...

This ended up being the very first boss I found and I got stuck here for a while too, so I know the feeling (went back and found the first boss after finding Gascoigne and getting slaughtered).

Not sure what level you are, but I went back and farmed some souls to level up a bit before tackling him again and it definitely felt like it was helpful.

im at 19 now. but yes, the molotovs sounds like the way to go and music box when he's in beast mode.....

I rang the bell for help but alas, no one came 8( also, wheres the best place to use the bell? Do i literally have to use during the fight itself?

You don't find that key in Old Yharnam but you can unlock a way that leads you behind the closed gate after you kill the boss there.

How do I get to this boss, I have explored everywhere and the only other place to go is old yharnam

Music box -
Sorry, this is the only one I can answer - this can be used to fight Father Gascoigne. It stops for a few seconds if you use the box mid battle

Wish I had known this when I fought him, so it has no other use?

Just watched a pvp video from oroboro with a very good strategy.
Get people down to half health and then shot them with a bone marrow ash'd cannon when they try to heal
. Guess it's time to start my strength character

so I was wondering why this one boss was stupid easy and I went to the wiki
mergo's wet nurse notes section The fight was bugged and seemingly incomplete in prerelease copies, having only one attack programmed. This is not the case in the proper releases. Restarting console seems to help with that glitch. That feels like what happened, all she did was slash a bunch. Reading this apparently she was supposed to create a clone but that never happened

Father G was super easy for me. He was easy to parry and his attack animations were pretty predictable. I had more trouble with the Cleric Beast because of the camera lol

Question about Eileen questline

Finally got her to spawn in cathedral ward after beating Amelia. She told me about the tomb of Odeon and the other Hunter. Is this encounter one and done? I know if she dies shes gone. What if I die? Does she die too? Bit nervy about this because some of these hunters are assholes and I want her crest and probably join her covenant. Already killed her first time through for the rest

Yeah this seems like a common bug unfortunately. It's a pretty cool fight when it works properly

Well I beat Bloodborne last night it being my 1st Souls games, It far surpassed my expectations. Bloodborne is just to damn good I loved every moment.

It helps to make it clear what your spoiler is going to discuss. I figured this would be early game but whoops it's something I'm not at yet.

So, I found the Old Abandoned Workshop yesterday and instead of using the Hunters lamp, like a dumbass, I kept exploring and found myself in the unseen village and out of nowhere I ran into a boss. I forgot the name (another beast). He destroyed me and I awoke again in the unseen village. Looks like I either have to complete this section or use a Hunters Mark to awaken somewhere else...

There's a lamp on the third floor. The boss is pretty easy since you can get it to run away from you for like 99% of the fight.

1. Yes go ahead and buy it.

2. Yes go back after telling them and see what happened.

3. Music box is very useful for gascoigne 3rd phase.

Oaw and uv are connected?

Started playing(offline) on friday, each day a Boss down so far (not counting Chalice ones).
My favourite Souls game so far, alone for the art style, sometimes it feels like a painting coming to life.
Went dex with the Cane, currently +6, thing is wrecking the shit out of enemies, can't wait to get some more skill based weapons.
So todays session might be focused on Chalice Dungeons, I have yet to finish the first one, third layer left.

Go left for upgrades.

Def go for it. It's honestly quite easy once you memorize her moves. She has shite defence for rear attacks so keep nailing her ass and you'll be fine.

Most def.
Been proven already. Certain enemies get additional attacks (i.e the dude with the lamp on his left hand), once you hit a certain level of insight, he's able to bust out attacks via the lamp as opposed to it merely being there just for aesthetics.

Thank you!
Killed rifle spear jerk only to be gunned down by snipers on the grassy knoll.

I've soloed all the bosses so far so hopefully I can take her out

There's a sack guy shortly after leaving the tower. I imagine that's how they ended up there.

I believe I beat the wizard werewolf with the fire in his hands, went through the door and I was in some village. Some guy killed me and it went to a cut scene and I awoke in the unseen village.

I gave the red broach to the little girl in the window who gave me the music box.

Now she won't talk to me and is really upset.

Is that the end of her questline?
