Ok, I'll try for a third time :p. I can't figure out how to use runes. I have the rune workshop tool, and the lake and heir runes. You are supposed to do it at the workbench in the Hunters Dream right? I can't figure out where it is. There are still only four options... Fortify weapon, repair weapon, blood gem fortification, and leave. Did the game glitch on me?

Not the bench, the thing to the left of it. In front of the statue.

This Rom fight is pretty dumb. First one I haven't enjoyed.

I'm trying to eliminate the Spiders. First round is no problem but getting two-shotted pretty quick in subsequent ones.

I don't see much of a point in putting stats into anything besides Skill, Endurance, and maybe Vitality. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing wrong. Arcane is pointless unless you want to use Arcane items, which mostly totally suck. The scaling it adds to the 4 weapons with magic-damage is next to nothing, even at 40 and with them maxed out. It's useful if you want to switch a weapon to Arcane/Fire/Bolt damage, but again the scaling is bad and it also totally negates your Strength and Skill scaling and Arcane's already bad scaling compared to Strength + Skill combined on a weapon which makes any Arcane build pretty weak in comparison. Better off just going with a pure physical weapon and then just adding Fire/Bolt Paper or the Arcane Item Buff.

You do want both Strength and Skill unless you're sticking purely with Blade of Mercy (Skill only) or Logarius' Wheel (Strength only). Every other weapon scales off both stats and most of them get a worthwhile bonus from both stats even if the scaling rating is low. You absolutely want both for something like Ludwig's Holy Sword.

Bloodtinge is a bit of a mixed bag. If you want to fully exploit the Cannon, which is an amazing item that can take huge chunks of HP off even Bosses when upgraded and used with Bone Marrow Ash, then you absolutely want Bloodtinge. It can and will wreck things. Evelyn can also put out some decent damage with its S in Bloodtinge. It's also a stat you want if you use Chikage (the Katana) as its 2H trick-mode is dependent on it. The two Gun-sword type weapons also use it for their Gun Attacks.

Vitality is absolutely worth it, you want that at 50 eventually. Endurance at 40. Then whatever stats you use for ATK at 50.

I'm on NG++ and I've read that there is an alternate way into the Cathedral aside from buying the key? I don't believe I've ever found it so I'm curious.

Also, what's the deal with the closed door next to a chest under the Cathedral Ward? It's in an area guarded by two ogres and one giant with a ball and chain. I could never figure out how to open it.

15 in arcane is godlike to use the shell which is like a infinite mini-bolt/fire paper

No, you take it to the Memory Altar which is diagonal from the Workbench.

Video of me FINALLY killing Eb

Not a pretty fight at all, but it came together near the midway point. This was going to be my last attempt of the night, I've been trying to kill her for two nights in a row. I just died in there with 31,000 souls or so, only had 1 bolt paper and didn't really care anymore, it was a "fuck it!" run. started off TERRIBLY, kept getting stuck on her arm and was just taking damage trying to get behind her. almost just gave up and let her kill me, but luckily i didn't! :D

I found it by dropping down platforms under the healing tower area(I forget the name, haven't been back since the door was locked) that you can get to from the elevator in the church.

If you're at the Cathedral Ward lamp, go right and take the elevator up. Fall down and go to the dark area that has even more of a big drop. From these streets you end up behind the gate.

I'm pretty sure there is no way to open that door, which is weird as hell.

I think it is a vestigial design that got cut. It would simply open to the bridge where you fought Cleric Beast. They cut it out and left the door in.

When you use that doesn't your damage scale off Arcane? By that I mean it changes the weapons damage like a Gem would. My friend was noticing his damage went down when he used it.

That might be my problem actually, I've been using Ludwig's sword in the greatsword form for most of the game.
Kinda been neglecting my guns. Probably should fix that huh?

You don't even need to upgrade them. Just Blunderbuss - his face. It'll stop his big spell dead in its tracks. The tentacles are really blatantly choreographed and easy to just side-step.

i like to think that it is an hint for a dlc entry

Felt like such a dope earlier on my second play through when I found the lore note in the lecture building that says (major ending spoiler)
"Three third chords"
. Should have thought more about that first time through

Where should I farm blood vials? Ideally somewhere where I'm also getting Quicksilver and Echoes. Vials are already 540 freaking echoes for me.

I am up to Rom, btw. That fight sucks.

Nope, it does not scale off Arcane. It's a bonus on top of your damage and the item has 0 scaling with any stat.

Just got a "Lost connection to server, returning to title screen".... WTF?! I was in Single Player too.... I had rung the small bell, but was still in my world. That is just stupid.

Having a really hard time with *MAJOR SPOILER*
Garhman
right now. Anyone got any tips? I get him to like half his health most bouts and then he goes super saiyan and it's all down-hill from there...

Took me a good 20 tries to finally get him. Parries are your best friend for him, just watch for his horizontal slash in the first phase and his long 4 attack combo in the second. He can't be parried in his last phase that I could tell, just evade evade evade and run away when he starts to channel his big aoe. The only shots you'll probably get in are 1 or 2 at time, so it will take a bit to finish him off.

I'm guessing just a cut area they forgot to remove the interaction on, honestly.

So, got to the second Y

so let's go there." *Dies* "Man, this place is even more scary and oppressive."

This game is getting real. ;_;

Explored the N
ightmare
F
rontier. Not too bad of an area, though having to fight two hunters while having a conversation with someone sitting next to me took some vials out of me. But I killed the summoning witch who I don't think will respawn, and managed to explore a bunch of it and grab the poison resist rune (which sounds super handy, especially for that area). Had to stop though because the poison was getting to me and I ran into a wall with some enemies that caused frenzy super quick and my gear has shitty res against it. Will definitely try to approach it later as the game goes on because its a real interesting area.

I never bought the key. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I know I never bought the key.

Thanks folks for clarifying my ending questions.

So how in the world do you run through (endgame area?)
Nightmare of Mensis
? The spiders are too numerous and that Hunter in that hallway doesn't make things easier.

Anybody willing to help with
martyr Logarius
? I do fine on him until he enrages then I get crushed.

When he enrages, he'll jump up into the air and charge. If you roll out the way or roll forward, you can get behind him and go for a backstab.

So a big fuck you goes out to
Micolash.
The fight shouldn't even be hard but he keeps on spamming his spells that one-shot me half the time.
Probably my least favorite of the bosses so far.

He only does that move when you aren't close, I believe. I was getting pissed off about that move too, then watched a youtube video where the guy was aggressive as hell and Micolash was only doing CQC moves and that snake punch, so I tried it and he never even attempted the spell. Just stay on his ass and never stray more than a few steps away from him

I'm at the same place . Man, this areas are something else.
It's kinda unsettling but amazing at the same time.

Yup stay aggressive and he's not a problem, pretty sure you can even stop his cast if you hit him before he finishes.

Ah yes, I remember now.
However, I don't believe I've ever gotten the cathedral ward elevator door to open prior to the defeat of Vicar Amelia (which requires entry into the Cathedral lol).
What is the trigger to open the elevator door?

Rom was the fight I think I enjoyed the most, it was the most well paced fight for me. What you do is
clear enough spiders to be able to dart in and out and slap Roms sides, you don't need to clear all of the spiders. And especially in phase 2/3 you can't afford to with Rom slinging projectiles. The fight is mostly dancing around Rom to spread out the spiders, darting in for a few attacks, and back out.

Sorry if this has been asked. But how when does Eileen move to the cathedral ward? I beat the boss before the area and have exhausted her dialogue in the first area.

You need to beat either
Vicar Amelia or Blood-starved Beast.

Trying to help people with
Blood Starved Beast
on NG+, but keep feeling like I'm letting them down when he 1 shots them. :(
