Yes.
You get the Rune Workshop Tool that allows you to use Runes in the altar in the hunters dream

is really handing me my ass, hardest boss so far.

I found that one to be quite easy.
Just took my hunters axe in it's 2 handed position, kept running torwards his back legs and just kept swining with R2 at it's max. Just watch when it starts trampling with it's legs and when body parts are falling down. And the vomit.

Disgusting thing... Great design though, the thing looks amazing.

Sublime art direction.

I stole the idea for that last shot from whoever here did the better one.

How do you take hudless shots?

The art is fantasic indeed, technically I wish Sony gave more assistance to From as clearly they can do better.

At the last boss, love the game. Really happy theres no magic/mages in the same way dark souls had. Atmosphere is incredible, bosses are usually really fun and the melee combat is just the best in the industry. By. Far.

One thing they need to work out is camera in some boss fights, specially the giant dudes. If you get too close the camera can get really crazy...

Anyway, one of the best games ive ever played and ive been gaming for thirty years :)

Just beat 2nd and 3rd bosses tonight both in one go.
I used coop and the effect is lasting, had 1 guy, he died. Then after a bit had another and then another. All with 1 bell jingle.

Just to clarify I can't help others beat a boss I already beat right?

Yes, need to fight it. It's not actually dead, just fell down. The area where you take second elevator and there are bottomless pits all over the ground, there will now be a cage you can go into and use like an elevator. Leads to a dark area, with only you and the brain. Use the make contact gesture for 2 minutes to receive a rune, also kill the giant brain to get a living string.

Did not know this, guess that's something new for me to do in NG+. Cheers.

Really not happy with the Blood Drop system in this game..Died to 2 dogs, came back, neither had it, killed every enemy in this half of the zone, still nothing..I get the feeling it was given to one of the worms in the underground cave..but screw going in there to find 1 worm in a room with like 4 giants.

any tips on killing vicar amelia?
I tried to stay close most of the time and keep my distance whenever she jumped away. There's an attack that leaves her open for a while if she misses. Beat the shit out of her during her recovery, luckily you'll stagger her and be able to do more damage. By the way make sure you are hitting hard, you'll need it if she tries to heal herself.

So I'm still in NG, and was ringing my small resonant bell to help out people in NG+ fight Father G and the C. Beast. I'm lvl 108.

Then all of a sudden, I join this Hunter's new game (he was wearing initial clothes, enemies were those of NG). He must have been a lvl 10, so I guess coop glitched out on this.

Anyway, he starts the Beast encounter for the first time (had the animation), then I go through the fog, and hit the beast with two R2 charged attacks and it goes down. Fight must have been 10 seconds or so.

The guy just stood there staring at me, I felt so badass I turned around, sheathed my sword and started walking slowly towards the gate... no wave or anything... the other dude just still standing there...

I'm not too good (though not terrible either) at these games but love em so much. ~150 hours in Dark Souls (my first Souls), still haven't finished NG. ~80 in Demon's, same. I'll probably never finish them but I'm ok with that.

20 hours into Bloodborne so far and I've beaten three bosses. It's amazing. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm avoiding spoilers and guides and whatnot and just exploring on my own (maybe I'll actually finish it and do NG+!)...it's difficult to not obsessively read everything because all I want to do is play/read/talk about it =)

I don't generally enjoy fighting bosses in games, they stress me out. I enjoy atmosphere and exploring game worlds with a strong feel of PLACE.. (but I think without the contrast of intense boss bits, the exploring wouldn't be anywhere near so good! .. so these games are perfect for me. I may even be growing into a bit of boss-liking..)

The atmosphere and design and layout etc of Yharnam just keeps blowing me away. I can't believe how great it is. Exceeded my expectations.. so far it's like my favourite places in Dark & Demon's, amplified and sustained to fill a whole city.

Anyways I don't have anything much to say, just needed to be all like "this game! <3". It's beautiful. I actually prefer Dark Souls's bizarre dream fairytale knights vibe.. from the moment I saw the giant crow sitting above Firelink Shrine I was in love. But Bloodborne is getting nicely strange.....

.. just met
that guy with the sack over his shoulder in some slum-like area down under the cathedral place. OH GOD. the first thing i did in the place he takes you is have my throat slit by two horrible old ladies who jumped on my back. thought i was trapped, Painted World style, for awhile but found the lantern
...and oh how welcoming and cheerful Central Yharnam seems now.

I've been stuck on the cursed chalice watchdog fight for 6 hours.

I'm done for today. I can't beat him.

I dont think I can get platinum for BB.

edit: My hands are cramped. I can't move them anymore.

It just hit me but I await to see more reactions to the (mid-late spoilers)
shit fest gank squad in Yahar'gul.

Strategy I used:

Had them follow me down the stairs into the prison cell, go in the cell and close the door. Hit them with R2 from afar

Sure you can. Level range requirements apply, but if you keep your lvl at a reasonable level you will be able to help others with all the early bosses.

any tips on killing vicar amelia?

I found using a quicker striking method more helpful. So no extended weapon since they typically take longer to swing, no charges. I just wailed on her with R1 near the back leg. With the longer strikes, they'd take too long and she'd either jump away quickly before I could get a charge shot in or get much damage. With smaller strikes, I could deal more damage quickly, and it also managed to stun her quite a few times.

I'd try to dodge her to the side (I think right side is preferable) and back of her right leg and just wail on it.

This is what I started as and I stuck with VIT, END, STR, and SKL. Points start to become less effective after 25 so don't focus too much on one if your weapon has attributes in both Str and Skl.

I'm not so sure that's true. Past 40 in skill my main char is getting 3 points of damage per point. That's more than I got prior to 25. I'm lvl 110 and my cane whip does over 400 dmg a hit with the fast attack and my gems are just decent.

sounds good. will try it out with using some fire paper.

Question regarding Eileen the Crow:
Has anyone had any luck beating the opponent during the third (or the second one that requires a fight) Eileen the Crow encounter at the Cathedral?

I feel like I'm fighting a Victorian terminator or some shit.

Is it just me or is it awkward when Bloodborne's procedurally generated dungeons are better looking and better designed than the majority of RPGs I've played?

So first timer to BB and this genre in general here. I'm about to create my character. Anything I should know or do?

Personally I went with
the hunter axe as my initial weapon (which you'll get after your first enemy encounter) It seems the best choice early game as the extended reach (L1 to transform then R2) is devastating.

Spend your first hour of so experimenting with the dodge/roll/lock on mechanics and it will serve you well later on. Don't worry about dying a lot at the start as it won't effect your game at all. You're losing nothing and gaining valuable experience.

Use R3 whenever you enter a new area to lock onto enemies who may be hiding from view.

... oh and prepare to die.

Has anyone else found their bloodstain somewhere far from where they died, perhaps in an entirely different region as I have? I know people report bloodstains not being where they died or on a nearby enemy, but it seems the blood could be elsewhere rather than non-existent. Perhaps from a bug with the bloodstain coordinates?

I recently bought a two handed sword that has a higher base attack than the starting weapons, previously I was using the starting axe. Will I be screwing myself if I choose to go back to the axe and level that up through the rest of the game. I think I prefer it to this sword.

the axe is one of the best weapons in the game.

So I have a bunch of chalices and I opened the first chalice dungeon. And I beat it. But I don't have enough materials to create a second chalice dungeon.

Am I supposed to just keep grinding the first dungeon to get enough materials to open a second one? Do the enemies drop the materials or just the chests?

Is there a better way to do it?

I have No idea on where to go next.. Nightmare
Frontier- I unlocked two shortcuts, killed a spider like boss, got pushed into poison water, found countless runes ect.
Am I done here? Where do I go next?

Just fucking sprint and don't look back because them things can one hit you bad. There are a few loot items to get like an armour set and some blood stones.

yes,
cainhurst
is just incredible, and more incredible is that it is optional lol
the art of this game, damn

Yeah, that's what gets me.
You find an item in an optional area to access this optional area, which is given attention to detail and uniqueness on par with the best of the main path, unique enemies and a unique boss and a unique NPC. Interesting lore implications. Access to a covenant, and possibly an item that then lets you hunt down another optional boss elsewhere
.

Early on Bloodborne is more reminiscent of Demon's than Dark, as it's a bit more obvious where you need to go and the main path naturally guides you to your targets. But it slowly unravels and becomes a bit more like Dark, though more claustrophobic and haunting.

Yup you are supposed to grind it out. Not like you don't know how to grind my friend eh?

Enemies and chests have the chance to drop the materials you need.

I am not there yet, but the cheese strategy appears to be
getting the enemy to activate his second stance, which consumes hp per seconds, and then running away

it's a great combination of both.

Alright.

Help!

I have 33 Skill and 23 Arcane and 12 Bloodtinge

What is the best weapon that scales Skill for me?

I'm not quite sure exactly how Arcane damage works in the game. I can't do both right? I do Arcane OR physical?

I'm pretty far in the game (possibly endgame?) and I have access to a good assortment of weapons.

I think the main four I have to pick between are

Threaded Cane
Rifle Spear
Blade of Mercy
Reiterpallasch

Help please!

Let me say it again, it is optional. The whole point of getting to that bridge and fighting the cleric beast is that you're trying to get across to the cathedral ward which is on the other side of that bridge, however after defeating it you realize that the way is locked and you have to find an alternative path.

There is a second path through the aqueducts that allows you to reach the cathedral ward. With that said, the second boss is not easier than the Cleric Beast, not at all so... and while it's a different type of fight compared to the previous one, I would still recommend defeating the Cleric Beast just so you gain experience in dealing with larger creatures.

Perhaps this guide will help you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD0kUBULEIM

There's also one for the second boss, however, be advised that it contains spoilers.
