The Orphanage? I just got there, it's amazing.

Oh hell yes I'm talking about the
The Orphanage
I was legit terrified in that area. The feels man, fucking nailed it. Those little slug things, just watch their behavior. Fucking trippy.

And the music....it seems to be one of the few stages that has background music. That entire stage reminded me of Tower of Latvia (or however it's spelled in Demon Souls). And it's a damn shame it's a hidden stage most people won't find. It's also a crucial level in terms of story development and how it leads back to an earlier area. Again, I'm shocked this entire area is only accessible for those who find a key that's actually kind of tricky to find. But that's what makes Miyazaki ... Miyazaki. He'll have the balls to do something like that.

C
ainhurst
is so awesome. They could have easily saved that area for DLC.

The
Shadows of Yharnum
are kicking my ass so hard right now. First try I got
down to 2, and second, third and fourth try I got wrecked by that sword guy.
It's relentless! Though I think my strategy will be
dodge, thrust, run, rinse and repeat. The extend-o-sword is annoying though.

I'm guessing this is because
of the aforementioned mega-hunter?

Yes,
He's really tough, you can make him extremely easy if you want though, but it's very cheap.
If you want to know you
Wait for him to go Two Hand mode and run out the Cathedral, he'll eventually kill himself

Harder than
any other boss? Shit, can't see me having much luck there then
.

Like stated, he can be cheesed easily to get Eileens stuff.

why he is hard:
- very quick (like all hunters)
- has around 3500 health
- normal attacks take huge amount of health from you (i was around lvl 65 - 25 VIT, 31 END, 27 STR)
- he heals a lot, sometimes his healing gives him like 30-40 % of his total health with one healing
- he throws "numbing mist" at you > you can't use blood viles for a while
- he has a blood attack, where he's loosing health but his attacks are getting even stronger
- best of all: his James Bond Golden Railgun which took like 50-60 % of my total health in one shot

but he can be parried (if you fuck up, better have a lot of health) and he can be staggered with heavy attacks (Ludwig's blade gave him trouble)

All in all: he is badass and has huge balls (i love how he stands there when you enter). Better be prepared. Still liked to fight him but he's OP.

You know I just realized I haven't been invaded once yet. Invasions are still a thing right?
Super rare until the late game due to mechanics changes.

Posting this again as it was at the bottom of a page, sorry.

If I don't level up bloodtinge at all, will there eventually be a point where I can't use it to parry/riposte? Or can I go through the whole game without levelling it and still be find, assuming I'm only using the gun to parry/riposte; not cause damage.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Bloodtinge only affects damage as far as I know. I could still parry the final boss just fine.

I think only in areas that have
sinister bell maidens
, there are prompts at the bottom of the screen alerting you to their presence. I have only been in 3 areas with them so far and I don't think I have too much left. Kinda lame, wish it would have been much more prevalent throughout the game. I am guessing in NG+ they are more frequent.

That witch fight is bullshit.

I've taken people in with me, and they either fight the ash (ass) monsters, or the second phase of the fight goes awful once one of us is caught.

I can't backstab her like others are telling me to.
Bullshit bullshit bullshit. I'll just go fuck up Vic then.

I think it's one of the better fights in the game.
You can kill the dude she summons and then just run around and look for her, if you see her, back off immediately until you're sure you're behind her. I think she always starts in the back end of the room so if you stay by a set of stairs as you enter she can't sneak up on you. I would say just concentrate on one at a time, if the adds get to be too much start killing them off, I think they're easily hit out of any attacks by hitting R2. When the second one spawns do as much damage as you can to her, make sure the adds are kept under control as more spawn now, and kill the original witch any time she respawns to make your life easier. You can hide behind the stairs to block the projectile the witch uses. Just make good use of the terrain and remember the adds are slow. I think any help you summon will end up giving the adds too much health to keep under control unless you're both trying to kill the same ones every time.

I would suggest going in this manner of killing them

Sword Guy>Mid Range dude with flamethrower>Spellcaster
Easier that manner since spellcaster dude doesn't do much harm at close range

Lure them around the tombstone wall, that way you will have less distractions to deal with

I just found and cleared this area last night and was going to come and post about it. Best area in the game, IMO, hands down, and I almost missed it. So glad that I decided to go back and actually clear
Unseen Village
rather than just running through it before I finished my first playthrough or else I would have totally missed it.

Loved when the beasts broke the chandelier and all you could see through the fog and darkness was their eyes, with the creepy music in the background. Awesome place...and agree, total Latvia vibes.

He has one vial, so you only have to worry about healing once.

Sword dude gets knocked back from a full charge R2 and free followup R2, you can also try parrying. Most of his attacks have a huge opening to parry.
Never beat them solo on my first character but I think that fight shouldn't be too bad second time around.

The beast AI at this part is surprising, too. I got flanked and destroyed. :-/

After the initial frustratingly hard few hours where I thought maybe this type of game wasn't for me, I now have found my self on the verge of addiction with the game. It has been so so long since a game has done this to me and sucked me in so deeply into it's world. Fantastic stuff.

Ok, so last night I got (area available after fourth boss)
sucked into what is apparently the Miskatonic University and then sucked into a nightmare realm of eldritch, cosmic horror.

Is this a fucking Lovecraftian game? Jaysis Christ.

I was a big Negative Nelly with regards to the story and setting of this game, but if this is actually happening... consider me a believer.

Are you sure?
My impression is that he makes a lot of little healings and one big one. He makes a gesture and glows a bit. He makes that all the time. I think this is where he heals a bit. He only throwed one numbing mist per fight at me.

A couple of late game areas you can get invaded in too, but I was there's for about 5 hours and only got invaded once.

I got invaded by 2 at once..Luckily I ran like a coward and stumbled across the Boss room ;p.

Going to give a Level 4 run a shot..R
om
will probably be the brick wall though.

It's amazing that how these kind of games has made me cautious and interested in every single broken fence or place everywhere, and when I found that key I was amazed that it actually led me somewhere this good.

No other designer would hide such amazing showpieces from the masses. Simply amazing.

That's
hurting him, not healing him. That hunter is using the Chikage and it has an ability that increases your power, but you constantly lose health while it's active.

MOTHERFUCKING YES!!!!!!!!!
Just got some great news, can't go into details, but one of the worlds biggest fans of Demon's will finally be able to play Bloodborne!!!

As soon as he's ready, he's s going to travel to my place and start playing it.

FUCK I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM. If you're reading this, HYPE BRO! HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was in
Nightmare Frontier
I got invaded non stop playing solo.

There's a
bell ringing maiden in an alcove along the right side of the area where the two npc hunters ambush you near the start, you can kill her to stop player invasions
.

I'm not too proud to resort to a bit cheese TBH. I'll take all the help I can get. Hopefully this wont be patched before I meet him.

Need some tips on how to kill T
he One Reborn. I take out the bell maidens and can manage to get him to half his health but then mess up.

It's soooooo amazingly good.
I've always wanted a lovecraftian game with this style, sure Dark souls and Demon's souls was both probably a bit inspired by Lovecraft, but this feels like it's straight from his works. So damn good.

the little healing is him activating his teleport ability. If his feet are glowing yellow he has it activated

You and me both man.

To everyone else, I hate doing this because spoilers and everything. But read the following, it won't be that spoiler-ish because it lacks context. So it's ok to read.
In the Unseen Village, at the part where the giant fucked up spiders is shooting lasers at you, on that ledge there is a small gap in the fencing, drop down onto the area below. You should be able to figure out the rest.
This will give you an item that will let you access what in my opinion is the greatest stage in the entire Souls series.

Isn't that another move? I'm not going to doubt you, it's just from my memory. I mean the move which looks exactly like when you take a blood vile. He doesn't loose health when he does that. With the chickage move, isn't there a read glow or something?

That's him using his
Old Hunter's Bone, it makes you disappear in a puff of smoke, quickening your roll, you can pick it up at the old hunter's lodge.

Yeah interesting. Wonder why this seems true for a lot people. Since I think it scratches exactly the same itch as the Souls games.

Probably the first time they actually give this game a fair shake. It's hard to outright dismiss something with a 93 metacritic without putting in at least some sort of effort.

Ohh,
He's using his bone. The bone is an item you can get that turns your dodges into teleports for a short time at the cost of a few bullets.

I beat the game solo and offline on my first playthrough, so i cant compare it, but on my 2nd playthrough (NG+), i play online and i summon help. Those have appeared in every area that i've summoned people in so far. I have only been invaded two times though. One time i had summoned two helpers, and the invader just ran away. I entered the boss fight, didnt bother running after him. The 2nd time i didnt see the invader (only the invading message), then i entered a boss fight.

EDIT: Oh, i dont know if
sinister bell maidens
appears more frequently in NG+ when just playing normal, but they have always appeared when i have tried to summon.

That, and the art is incredibly compelling, providing yet another reason to persevere.

Probably a silly question, but is there a bloodborne app similar to the one destiny has? I just want to check my inventory and gear while I'm sitting at work!
