Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that. I am going to play it for sure, yet a small part of me will weep for the game I had envisioned and that never will be.

Honestly, after seeing that trailer, there's really no reason why this is related to any previous IP. Nintendo should've just made a new IP with Atlus instead.

What does that even mean? "Man that new game looks video as hell", yay for nonsense terms!

How about, "this game looks like a culmination of the most common and uninteresting Japanese animation aesthetically relevant tropes pooled together, diametrically opposed to what I perceived the game would be like when it was first announced." Better? You couldn't understand that the first time?

This looks nothing like I envisioned the crossover to look like and thats exciting! I trust atlus and love both series so I´ll be there day one.

Megidolaon is not exclusive to Persona and SMT isn't really traditionally "anime" in this sense. This game has the vibe of a NIS/Compile Heart/Gust title.

It's still anime. You woldn't look at SMT art and think of anything but anime. It's a franchise that has dick monsters for goodness sake.

Can't wait.

People are overreacting way too much to a 2 minute trailer that barely showed anything other than character design and art direction.

Not-SMTxNot-FE?

People saying "looks like Persona" pssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Persona's got style and direction, this is Generime distilled to Everclear strength.

Seriously

If you didn't told me that this is SMT X FE

I would say it's a generic idol game on Vita

I'm dead serious, it's no trolling, this is how I feel

Again, I bet you've never played an SMT game in your life.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I don't think we've seen everything this game has to offer like so many people are freaking out about.

to be fair SMT IV IS anime as hell. thats the most recent one people are familiar with. I only picked up Soulhackers on a recommendation from GAF due to its themes, but lets be real, most only know of SMTIV when talking about SMT now.

Erg...meh. I want to see more JRPG's, but def not like this. I thought this was gonna be a real cross between FE and SMT mechanics...i really liked the GC FE games.

Persona 5: Fuck yess!!! Oh my god!! All over my body!! YESSS YESSS!!!!!

SMTXFE: Wtf is this shit? Looks like Persona!! Garbage!!

People were complaining about anime fan service with SM3DW?

No the general "it looks dumbed down" or " it just looks like a lighter version of persona".
Basically equivalent of the same responses 3d world's trailer got. "it looks generic or like a 3d land port". Basically people think 1-2 minute trailer is what the entire game is about.

Anime is the one of the last things that comes to my mind when I think of Nocturne or DDS, but I guess it all comes down to what people interpret as anime or not.

Told you guys it is alive lol. But in a different form.

I actually like it more to be honest. Playing both series for a long time, I never saw how SMT and FE will fit. With this, we saw some middle ground that will fit both games thematically.

So this is basically a SMT-like dungeon crawler, and barely a tactics game if at all? And crammed full of blatant fanservice? That's what the footage looked like.

Oh well, might still be a fun dungeon crawler, but I was hoping for a Devil Survivor-like tactics/turn based crossover.

When people say anime disparagingly they mean Neptunia-style stuff. Everyone with at least cursory knowledge of anime should know this by now.

I've played them. I'm just not ashamed of them being anime and trying to convince myself otherwise.

When I mean "anime", I'm not talking about the all-encompassing aesthetic of Japanese animation. I'm talking about tropes. This game looks like Ray Gigant or Tokyo Xanadu, not Shin Megami Tensei or Ace Attorney. Different facets of "anime." I'm the last person who would be ashamed of my tastes.

Errybody's going on and on 'bout anime-styled fuckuppery but I just want some decent dungeoneering and a good battle system

Just gotta wait and see if the art direction meshes better, I guess.

Absolutely not what I was expecting, but it looks pretty awesome. I'm definitely gonna keep any eye on this. Do wish that the female designs were toned down a bit though.

Yeah, I feel the same way, I expected something more dark and gritty knowing this was SMT, but we'll have to see the gameplay. Who's developing, Atlus or Nintendo? I'm guessing Atlus.

Looks nothing like SMT, Persona, OR Fire Emblem. Except for maybe the new one. Argh these animu designs are killing me I swear. This and FE If...I hate all of this idol shit, too. Someone hug me.

Did you play the SMT, Persona and FE games with your eyes closed?

How about, "this game looks like a culmination of the most common and uninteresting Japanese animation aesthetically relevant tropes pooled together, diametrically opposed to what I perceived the game would be like when it was first announced." Better? You couldn't understand that the first time?

No I couldnt undertstand you the first time because using anime as a genre descriptor is nonsense, the only commonality between its various texts are the medium. Similarly your attempt to be clever above would probably be better if it were a proper sentence. But its ok I get the gist of it.
