Illusory Revelations#FE (SMTxFE) - First Trailer, Winter 2015 [Up: Screenshots]

I'm in the like it camp. Not as an FE title or an SMT title, but as its own unique thing

Honestly this is by far the best thing about this re-reveal.

I expected a "generic" crossover TRPG with both series's cast.

This has some potential to be something special. The city and dungeon shots are promising...

...the anime fanservice panties, not so much.

Wait did people actually want some awkward crossover with Fire Emblem characters hanging out with SMT characters? I'm happy it looks like a legit RPG that stands on its own while taking from both franchises, instead of some dumb Cross Edge type mashup.

yeah this. A straight up cross over between the two would've been dumb and that's why I was initially disinterested in it. This looks like more of it's own thing and I think that's far better.

Looks nothing like SMT, Persona, OR Fire Emblem. Except for maybe the new one. Argh these animu designs are killing me I swear. This and FE If...I hate all of this idol shit, too. Someone hug me.

Idol bullshit put to the side (I completely agree with your stance) it really is the designs and art direction that kills it for me.

If it wasn't for the Atlus logo at the start and various shots of Pegasus Knight, I NEVER would have associated this with either franchise.

So is SMT dead or something? Seems like Persona is taking over.

SMT is not dead , we just got a mainline entry not long ago that did well. Persona has been the prominence over the past few years though, yes.

Its Atlus and Intelligent Systems, if any two studios deserve the benefit of the doubt it's these guys right? I think the first trailer just was trying to show too much, I imagine when more is shown people will get the answers they are looking for, but I think it looks great either way.

Everyone losing their minds over this being "Per x Sona", it's Atlus ffs. They put out good games, why should this be any different?

People are proudly declaring "this is too anime for me". As if it isn't a crossover of franchises with giant dick monsters and lolis you can romance. Okay ain't nothing wrong with the former but this is still a step in the right direction.

Huh, this looked absolutely nothing like I expected. I expected SMT and FE and this doesn't look like either. Played us like a damn fiddle.
Where's my HD Mara? Atlus pls BibleThump
Still, loks interesting. I want to know more about this. Also glad this finally resurfaced so naysayers can stuff their mouth with crow now.

Expected: T or maybe M-rated dark tactics JRPG with religious themes.

Got: Persona meets Transformers meets Super Sentai meets My Little Pony.

Yeah. At the very least I didn't want whatever the hell this is.

What's wrong with wanting Ike and the Demi-Fiend to team up and kick some ass together?

Looks great. Good thing I still have a pre order of it for $40. I didn't really see much Fire Emblem in the trailer. I figured maybe you would someone iconic Fire Emblem characters instead of demons. The school and the colored pedestrians remind me of Persona.

Wow, this is not what I was expecting from this crossover. Looks like the worst possible outcome. Idol waifu RPG... definitely not my thing.

I would have had it been in a Conception-style* universe with a blend of the two aesthetics, yeah. It would have been better suited than full-on anime.

*I mean Nocturne's apocalyptic event, not the RPG.

Looks like the best, most refreshing title to be released in the next year. So many colors and lots of personality. Excited to see more. This is right behind P5 Hype for me.

See, that's what I mean. We barely get that from the trailer. How does the apocalypse fit into the world that we're seeing?

This thing looks anime as hell right now, though.

It's the first trailer. They probably don't want to spoil the game.

I'm having 2013 E3 flashbacks to when Mario 3d world was shown when it comes to some of these responses.

This.

You'd think we'd learn not to make sweeping doom and gloom generalizations based off of a reveal trailer

Based on some of the reactions in here you'd think some crummy B tier studio was developing this.

It's still going to be a good game even if it isn't the brooding SMT you wanted.

From the footage it looks like it was made by some crummy B tier studio, though.

I mean, regardless of knowing who is actually developing it, it still looks more like Conception II x Mind Zero than SMT x FE.

I'm with you, I think. I expected something with a darker tone, likely a strategy role-playing game, but instead I got this. The game might be okay, but god damn this is not what I was expecting.

The thing is, at least to me, it doesn't look much like it's own thing. It looks like a fairly generic Compile Heart tier JRPG.

...Okay maybe that's harsh. But I don't get many unique vibes out of it stylistically at all.

This post is so bizarre. You've got a Persona article and you're complaining about a crossover of two franchises that were already anime-inspired somehow being anime.

it seems most people were expecting some kind of post apocalyptic, grey, gloomy shit with srpg elements going by comments and SMTIV

it could still be that :p

Everyone losing their minds over this being "Per x Sona", it's Atlus ffs. They put out good games, why should this be any different?

This is a bit far beyond their usual output IMO. Like they've gone the idol route with Persona before but never to THIS extent.

Megidolaon is not exclusive to Persona and SMT isn't really traditionally "anime" in this sense. This game has the vibe of a NIS/Compile Heart/Gust title.

Wonder what the final name will be?

Hopefully its not just Fire Emblem vs SMT.

The final name is Illusory Revelations Sharp [aka Hashtag] FE. OR Genei Ibunroku Sharp FE.

Only bit I really liked was the open world with silhouettes, too many girls/women in skimpy clothing. I could see the threads writing themselves when she transformed into the swimsuit.

What does that even mean? "Man that new game looks video as hell", yay for nonsense terms!

Honestly even the Persona vibes were pretty slight. If I had no knowledge of the crossover beforehand I would just assume it was a new IP. Doesn't really give the impression it's inspired by another series.

I mean I didn't even care if they were going to use a new cast or previous FE/SMT characters, but this looks just so unlike what I was expecting. I was hoping for a more SMT atmosphere, but heh, I'll see how it turns out.
