At first I thought it was gonna be a combination of the RPG elements of the SMT series and the grid based strategy of a FE game. After that trailer ~ it looks like it's gonna be a game with Persona high school elements and probably SMT combat.

Interested in seeing more.

If you want to get stupidly technical (which would be stupid to do!), if it's not japanese animation, then it probably doesn't make sense to call it anime. No video games are anime anymore! Maybe in the cutscenes.

Are people not able to distinguish between different kinds of cartoons, either? X-Men = Hey Arnold = Family Guy = Aqua Teen Hunger Force = Rugrats = Samurai Jack = Adventure Time?

Obviously, when people are calling this out as being overly anime, they're referring to the modern, generic, fanservice-laden trash that a lot of anime has become. Which is what this seems to be. So, there you go, argue about it being terrible or not in that way, not whether it's 'anime' or not.

But seriously, it's deeply troubling that substantially interesting, nuanced anime aesthetics in games have such trouble getting greenlit nowadays. This is worrying me more and more over the last few years as it seems to be accelerating, warping what terms themselves mean and being the defacto face of more and more franchises.
