As much as I like the Chalices, it's really disappointing they aren't better geared for Co-Op since that was a selling point. Getting kicked out of someone's game after each level is ridiculous, especially with how finicky the match making has been in my experience.

A little more polish and this would be amazing. From always makes things more difficult than they have to be. Many times intentionally so. If there is one thing I would criticize Miyazake about, it would be to not shy away from a more direct multiplayer and player friendly design. I get that interaction should have limitations and a feeling of indirect connection with others is a part of the experience, but last 2 games they just tease us with coop tools to make it a bit easier, while still being completely obtuse. Chalice Dungeons should be the avenue to strip all the non-sense away and let players do it how they want.

If we can set a unique password to find people, why not go the Full Monty and let us open our friends list and send a damn Coop invite assuming level parameters match.

Do you guys feel like Bloodborne drops in quality towards the end just like Dark Souls did? I didn't really like the areas or enemies in the second half of the game and many bosses were pretty bad as well.

I think it comes down to
if the player is cool with running through Yahar'gul and Nightmare of Mensis. Those areas are major pains when fighting through them normally, but are quite thrilling and briskly-paced when making a mad dash through them.

Absolutely. Seems to be a trend with From games

The insight relation to difficulty is horseshit.

Went from 39 insight to 0 fighting Ebrietas because I needed the Bolt Paper.

Made 0 difference.Still very aggressive, still has plenty of instakill moves.

it doesn't affect bosses, insight affects normal enemies.

Rom is the easiest boss in the game if you are patient, but the hardest if you are not.

Just keep moving all the time when you see spiders jump, just keep moving when they land do a quick R1(or R2 is you have a fast weapon) attack it should kill the spider in one shot (they have almost no defense when on their heads).

Once all spiders a dead attack the neck of Rom(so you dont get stuck of rolled) watch his tail. If he lifts his tail triple roll away from him wait for him to do is projectiles then attack his neck 2-3 times and then bail.

You wont die if you are patient and clear adds. If try to kill him with adds are alive you are going to be in for a wild ride.

Take out the first wave of spiders easily by hitting them from behind. Rom should only take 3 sets of hits, maybe 4 depending on your strength/skill, and this is made a lot easier by taking out the first set of spiders.

Ignore the other spiders. Run to ROM's left, don't lock on and slash away.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I got him a little while after that. WHat I did was take my time and clear out the first set of spiders, simple enough because Rom himself does nothing that phase.

The second phase was what was giving me trouble, but I realized that if I stay kind of close, he usually doesn't drop the orbs from the sky (which I often got hit by even when constantly spamming the O button) but just does the ones from the ocean which are easier to avoid.

I didn't clear the spiders the second phase, when I tried to it would often get me damaged or killed by other spiders or Rom. Instead I stayed kind of close and led them around and eventually when there was an opening to Rom with few or no spiders in the way I would sprint at him, land 2-3 hits, then roll away before he smashed me or spiders got back to me.

Rinse and repeat, win.

I think drops in quality is too harsh of a word to describe the second half of DS. Its not quite as good as parts of the first half, but its still fantastic.

As for BB, I think I'm starting the second half of the game now
as I just beat Rom
so I'll let you know how that goes.

I pretty much look forward to it at this point haha. Does Dark 2 suffer from the same thing? Finally gonna get serious and play the game soon once I feel completely done with Bloodborne. It's like there is always gonna be 1 zone and 1 boss in each game where I'm just sitting there asking myself "what the hell were they thinking?!"

Dark 2 suffers it throughout the game. Still a good game especially if you factor in the online/community features which blow away anything else they've done.

It just sucks because I really wanted to explore the areas more instead of just making a mad dash through everything. Like the atmosphere of when you experience Yahar'gul is top notch, but the bullshit there doesn't allow you to properly enjoy the damn place. It's either run through it, or spend time pulling your hair out actually trying to deal with it.

Willing to coop and help a brother out real quick with Rom? ;D

Do we know what affects Boss behavior?

Sometimes i encountered bosses that used totally different attack patterns or were more agressive and sometimes they were using only 2-3 attacks and were just waiting to be beaten...

Have done that every time, then they grow snakes and just destroy me. I am dodging and moving but cannot for the life of me kill all of them.

There's a big gravestone and smaller ones you can get behind to heal quickly if you need to. Don't stay locked on all the time, be ready to run off to heal or get better positioning to separate them if you need to. The worst attack is the long reach one, but it can be dodged pretty easily if you're looking for it. Hacking away with a fast weapon will always break their attack animations AFAIK, so that's what I used.

That's a tough question. I actually think Dark Souls II gets better throughout though, I found the areas after
Drangleic Castle
to be the most fun and memorable. Bloodborne is the best showing by FAR, though. It's the quality level of the beginning of Dark Souls stretched across an entire game. I've really been amazed by the consistency of Bloodborne, especially being a long time fan of the series and knowing that while it's all good, some areas are usually better than others.

Not anymore more or less consistent than Dark Souls or Demons Souls. All have there bad areas and bosses, as well as areas and bosses that are downright amazing and genius. [/SPOILER]

Nah gotta disagree with that. I don't think I've encountered a single area I hated or wouldn't to revisit on a second playthrough.

Only area I kinda got annoyed of was
the street right before one reborn

I still wouldn't label it as poor or bad.But it was highly congested with super tough enemies.

Can we agree that at least visually its by far the most consistent ?

I dont think insights affect boss, only minions

it doesn't affect bosses, insight affects normal enemies.
It's not horseshit, it just doesn't scale like that... there's tiers and it doesn't effect everything. Just certain things change in the world.

OK sorry guys.

I thought insight affected everything.I guess it doesn't

Got Skill & Vit to 50. Not sure where to focus next. I'm using Burial Blade as my main weapon, with Blades of Mercy as backup just incase I need fast weps for something/pvp. What should I put points into next, STR, Arc, End, or more Vit?

Are you guys sure insight doesn't affect boss attack patterns? I have seen a lot of contrary posts.

I guess I did like the areas themselves.
Cainhurst castle, the university and the nightmares
are all amazing. At the end of the day Bloodborne is still mostly about combat so the (imo) horrible enemies dragged those places down.
What about the enemies there did you find displeasing?

The second area you mention is pretty transient. I don't even count it. One hallway with some doors. I enjoyed it, but it isn't a hallmark of the game for me.

Farming vials right now. Ugh.

After maybe 15 tries got Rom down to 20% but it's a pain in the ass. There's no way to consistently avoid the
ice projectiles
, right?

Well...yeah, 90% of the game is gray :p

Actually I'm only half joking, I thought that was a bit much. You can be dark and moody and scary with other colors besides gray

Also, on the zones, I've already said a few times that BB has what is in my opinion the worst zone in any souls game, which is one of the reasons I rank it bellow Dark Souls. While the highs are just as high (well, I don't even believe that since nothing in BB can touch O&S for example), the lows (or in this case the low) are lower. But that's like comparing super model wives (or husbands :p), who gives a fuck, at the end of the day you're still married to a super model :3

Wow! your strength is super low! some skill-favoured weapons like the whip get some bonus damage from strength too

I'm in total agreeance, even areas that could have been lazily desinged (
Forbidden Woods, Nightmare of Mensis
) are not - they still retain a lot of dense interconnectivity and detail. So many games use dreams or otherworldly settings as an excuse to just have a ton of floating rocks in a skybox and some random shit strewn about, but Bloodborne keeps it tight in the kinds of levels that are usually done very poorly.

Is there some way to nullify poison? In
Nightmare Frontier, near the boss there's like a whole tunnel system but I can't explore it because of the constant poison.

Also, I'm starting to dislike the giant bosses. They look cool, but they are a pain in the ass to fight because the camera always fucks you over when locking onto them.

I don't know man.

The game does use an assortment of dark colours and designs are downright gorgeous.

I honestly think will still look beautiful, even when it gets outdated technically one day.

The world they put together is astonishingly coherent and gorgeous.I couldn't ask for more in a game's world design.

Any tips for fighting VA? I can't figure out a tactic. I just keep dying. I'm level 22. Is that too low maby? My hunter axe doesn't seem to do much damage either.

That moment when you realize that you were once basking in the glow of the street lights of central Yharnam but are now smothered in tree limbs in forbidden forest and if you wanted you could run back to Central Yharnam without breaking stride.

Seriously this game is fucking massive and what they have done with Yharnam and the Cathedral grounds and the Forests and whatnot is extraordinary

Wear some high slow-poison resistant clothes, increase your stamina and have plenty of antidotes.

I still think one of my most favorite enemies in the game is from Menesis before the Loft.
Those Giants looked like straight up Wookies HAHA. I took a hilarious pic, but I don't wanna spoil the enemy for anyone and don't know if it's possible to spoiler tag a image.

Yeah.

I think the artists took their work very seriously.

Even when some assets are repeated they're placed carefully and tastefully.

This game will probably go down as some text book example of how to create a virtual world.

There are runes to add you 100 poison res and another that gives you 100 all res.

This plus your best poison res suit.

Plenty of antidotes.

Lots of stamina to run.
