Read again. They chose not to. Like he says there, if Nintendo just wants FE, they have a studio to make it. Atlus does things their own way. Shoe-horning SMT characters and mythology into an FE game definitely would've been a safer bet than this and would've probably gotten better reactions, I guess? I think it'd be boring.

This enemy is called Gangrel and has his facial hair.
I guess FE characters are basically replacing mythology references/demons/Personas here.

Might be possible... hey how about... they have to sing in order to summon the FE heroes, then fuse or whatsoever to use their attack/spells

I don't know much about the popularity of SMT in Japan as it relates to Persona, but it seems in the West that Persona is the more popular franchise, especially coming off P4G and the hype for P5. Maybe they made it more Persona and less SMT because they think that will sell better?

As far as combat goes, I hate it in Persona. The only things people really rave about are the characters and music.

It's been like this for a while now, that's why SMT IV is a portable game and is in general the way it is.
Persona is bigger worldwide (including Japan) I think.

Joking aside: in my opinion the worst part of Persona 3/4 is the dungeon. The rest is good.

Nah it's horrible story due to shit pacing makes it bad.

One guy even revelling at the fact that it reminds him of Omega Quintet lol Yeah, this really isn't a good reception. I think it looks okay, if a bit slightly generic compared to the two series it's meant to represent.
I'm intrigued in this game and I want to have faith in the people involved but, just from this trailer, it kind of does.
There are some standout elements that make it look like it's deeper than that so, yeah, I don't think it will be as generic/lame as an Omega Quintet or something.

So this has all new characters right? Amd it seems that its dropped the SMT part so its basically Fire Emblem except modern and developed by Atlus right? The trailer really confused me. I kept expecting to see those characters but they never came lol.
In the end, I like it better with all new characters. Good to have a good complete canon story than a crossover of characters. I hope I can play as a girl like the recent FE games. Hard to tell if its still a strategy RPG. Need to rewatch the trailer!

Hey, if you want to talk about Raidou 2's combat being great, I'm right there with you, but otherwise? Nah. Raidou 1 has one of the best SMT stories, though, on top of its great music and art direction.
Nah. Persona is one of the few RPGs that get turn based combat pacing right. As in, it has pacing that can make grinding fun.
The artstyle, music, characters, and thematic storytelling are what is (near) universally praised. The combat is good. The RPG mechanics behind them are decent, and the dungeons need work.
People were expecting some no fun edgecore SMTxFE that would punish you at every turn but instead they got signs of love x i want to marry lucina!
It's fun to see reactions of this game if you're neutral to the series!
