TRU announced yesterday they where doing preorders today but without providing an exact timeframe, and then they did open the preorders in the very early hours of the morning and even then they sold out in minutes. Lucina and Robin took less than 10 minutes to sell out too. Just yesterday Target sold out or its exclusive Jigglypuff in less than 10 minutes, and Gamestop had its exclusive Ness sell out in less than a day and they didn´t even put them on sale online, just in their store.

Nintendo needs to give better supply for this toys, the demand its CLEARLY there and if they get harder and harder to get people will just walk away from them.

People are complaining but...sadly 30 minutes nowadays is a large window when preorders are selling out in minutes. Lucina was gone in a few minutes every store so far except for gamestop but thats because their computers were fucked. Also im not sure if tru restricted how many people could preorder since I only got one.

Oh, I forgot to mention. Best Buy sold out in all 5 (Except Pac-Man) in less than an hour too.

When 30 minutes its a long time we know we are fucked, lmao. Just putting your information in a glitchy website can take 15 minutes.

Got mine by pure luck. I was about to go to sleep but decided to check the Amiibo thread. Next thing I know, he's up for preorder.

It sold out in 30 minutes when more than half the country was asleep and it was limited to 1 per customer. I don't know how anyone could possibly defend Nintendo on this.

This store-exclusive preorder bullshit has to stop. Seriously.

Also Nintendo needs to make more of these. You'd think by now they'd realize how big the demand is.

Oh im not defending. Far from it. Its pathetic that 30 minutes up on a preorder is a good thing but thats where we're at. Unless people want to protest and send some messages to get Nintendo attention to fix the situation then the reality is 30 minutes is a good thing when preorders have been selling out in minutes.

They have an opportunity to make so much fucking money, its insane.

They must know by now the demand is there, but they continue to limit how many they are making. Its not even a shelf space issue they aren't touching the shelves.

Such bad business decisions.

Riiiight. And yeah, theres no better way to send them that message than to keep on scooping those little toys up within minutes of availability.

I know you are right, proof of it I am up right now. But people patience can be broken and that saddens me, I love the amiibo concept and wish everyone can get a full collection if they wish so.

But yeah, the scarcity is whats driving people to buy this stuff, but at least make stock two or three times bigger, let it last at least a couple hours, jeez.

Why exactly is the Amiibos this sought-after? Isn't it mostly physical DLC? I know you can train your Amibo in Smash or something like that but for the most part they seem to unlock some bonus feature from what I've seen. And wasn't the intial reactions that the Amiibo's gameplay features were kind of dumb and pointless in Smash? What has happened since then? I planned to buy the Toad Amiibo two weeks ago to get the hide and seek gameplay just to have something fun to play with my kd, but nope, empty shelves. :/

You do realize that they can buy more than one amiibo right? Well if they managed to secure Preorder spot that is.

Haha, I was mostly joking, but I do know a lot of collectors who don´t own a Wii U (Or a New 3DS), and just collect the figurines. Nothing wrong with that, but I wish amiibo drived more Wii U sales, that is all.

Welcome to the world of figure collecting and scalpers. The DLC is an afterthought to most buying these.

All I ever hear about Amiibos these days is how sold-out they are. Has Nintendo just messed up and underestimated the popularity of their product or are they purposefully making them in small batches or something?

This exclusive shit is getting nuts. All future waves having exclusives, now? Were Skylanders and Disney Infinity that bad too? I can understand one or two amiibo here and there being retailer exclusives, but how many is there now? It's BS, and only in NA. So it's all NOA's BS. Again.

People are buying those for the figure themselve, not for the small DLC.

well, duh.

i have 2 amiibos and 2 disney infinity figurines and i don't ever plan on using them for anything else than decoration.

they're genuine nintendo / disney brand high quality figurines of your favourite video game / disney characters for only 12€. It's a steal, really.

I refuse to believe they aren't doing it on purpose.

So far, 8 exclusives out of 44 amiibo figures.

And yes, only the Americas got exclusives so far.

I wonder if they are setting limits on how many one person can buy? If not, then I'm guessing a lot of scalpers.

It's both. When it came to the Majora's Mask 3DS, they were made in limited quantity, but they also undershipped what was promised to retailers, so they couldn't provide as much as originally intended.

Nintendo diehards will label this as masterfully controlling the market, when most of it is just incompetence.

The more they supply, the more the scalpers will buy.

Blame the morons paying $40-80 for them on eBay.

If people weren't buying them at these stupid prices they would stop being purchased by scalpers.

Like someone else mentioned, collectors. It dips into that territory a bit, so its got a lot of folks attention. I'm not a collector, so it just looks like paid on disc DLC that also happens to go out of stock to me, lol.

Lmfao

Woke up to pee and missed it , its 4:53 am on a Friday morning

For those complaining about GameStop at least they gave everyone a chance in store , broken servers and all :p

I pray Mr game and watch x ROB x duck hunt aren't exclusives :/

Well, it's a real shame. As a Wii-U owner I'm actually yet to buy a single Amiibo. I'm unaware if we're having these same stock problems in the UK, but if we are it's really going to kill my motivation to try and secure a Splatoon Amiibo as I don't want to deal with the hassle of hunting one down.

I wouldn't call them "high quality" compared to the prototypes.

What kind of crazy backwards universe do you live in? They come out with new amiibo every few months, people move on to the next batch. Some people may give up altogether, but not enough that it's going to hurt Nintendo.

Nintendo could obviously sell more amiibos than they're making. They could make twice as many of the popular ones and they'd easily sell out.

I‘m not sure. Those are pretty obscure characters. They're not about to run out of characters to make amiibos out of. It is like printing money. If you print too much you devalue your currency.
