Axe vs Kirkhammer. Anyone switch to the latter after a while? Does it depend on which boss or area you're in for which one is better? KH seems to have better stats with reinforcement.

Interesting. That explains why it wasn't giving me as much as before recently.
So is it best to focus on other stats after you've reached the soft cap?
Yes, you want to branch out, but sometimes depending on the weapon scaling, it might be better to keep going pass the soft cap.

Alright, I've been trying to play through the first time without any help, so I haven't been reading the thread, but I think I need a hint. I have beaten six bosses,
Father G, Vicar Amelia, Cleric Breast, Blood-starved Beast, Witch of Hendrick, and Darkbeast Paal.
I'm pretty sure the next place I need to go is
Byrgenworth, which is allegedly in a twisted forest, so I've been searching Hemwick Lane but with no luck.

Can someone give me a nudge in the right direction? Maybe which lantern I should start my search from? Thanks!

Central Cathedral, down stairs and right at 2 big guys.

A typical experience in the Forbidden Woods

BAHAHAHAHAHA

What's the best way to handle the Alfred questline?

Should I let him kill that one covenant NPC so I can get his rune and stuff? And when can I even do that? I have access to the castle currently.

FROM should change that you loose your blood viles while helping people fight bosses. You should get the amount back when you die or finish the boss. I like helping ppl but sometimes i just don't want to anymore because i don't want to make vile runs in central yharnam when i want to progress further with the SP story.

Welll, just helped "chris-bo-76" beat M
artyr
L
ogarius
at least :) and have 1 vile left :(

The aerial bombardment ones?

I watched him and just mashed dodge in a single direction when he lands, signaling the start of the attack.

I'll try that!

I thought fighting
The hunter right before Rom
was the peak in terms of frustration experienced. What a fool i am lol

Yes. Let Alfred kill the queen. You can resurrect her later. You can do that after killing the boss.

FUCK YOU
ROM

damn it!!!!

Im lvl 59 and still can't beat that fucker.

You coward, fight me 1 on 1!

I was having a tough time with him at first.

Ludwig + Bolt paper (I read he was weak to this, might not be) did the trick for me. Two swipes then run just out of reach of his AoE attack. Rinse and repeat. Took me less than five minutes once I had it down.

Hunters
are my biggest fear in this game, for sure.

Their movement is not predictable.
Their combos can kill you easily.
They fucking heal themselves.

Dudes, where do you go after beating Micolash, Host of the Nightmare and grabbing the key?

Edit, forget it, I was being daft

Strategy:
Use bolt paper on your strongest weapon, or the Tonitrus, whichever is more powerful. Don't go after all the little spiders, treat them like defenders that you have to plan a running route to get through. Kill one only if it serves itself up on a platter by missing a dive attack or something. Otherwise, they do leave gaps for you to run through and you can take advantage. I found it easy to take a few whacks at the boss (always from the side!) and then run away before the little spiders got me.

The falling rocks attack can be tough to avoid, but I think at your level you should be able to survive a couple of hits if dodging fails you.

Just spoilered the whole thing cuz I'm lazy.

I have no bolt paper. Any tips on where I could locate some?

Ah yes Forbidden Woods. I was like Indiana Jones "Snakes..Why did it have to be snakes"
I used my whip to kill them all and then I saw the big ones and ran like a lil bitch, I swear those big ones are like everywhere and around every corner. I admit I even turned away the camera when I got killed by a big one and lowered the volume on my headset. Those damn hissing sounds.

To my previous question, it looks like once you beat an area, you can't summon in it. I hadn't traveled far enough to the next area. I can summon again.

Where is good place to farm blood vials? Rom is kind of making my supply dwindle.

The run from the great bridge lamp to the central yharnam lamp.

Two werewolves drops 3 blood vials each, 3 big guys drop 2 each and there's a chance of a drop from random enemies. So you're gonna get at least 12 per run assuming the werewolves don't drop blood stones and the big orge guys don't drop gold coins.

I wish there were maps of the chalice dungeons.

Sometimes I know I missed a door and I don't know where it is and it is really boring to slowly walk around the large dungeon looking for a door that I missed the last time.

FFFUUUUCK I think I fucked up. I went back to Hunter's Dream after being in
Yarghul
, but now the game won't let me select it as a Lamp location. Was I not supposed leave?

I'm having trouble dodging his projectiles

That's because the fight itself is very cheep.

The projectiles from the sky are pretty difficult to dodge just by themselves, as they track you really good. Add the legions of mobs you also have to dodge and move around, it's a luck game when it comes down to it.

Ignore the Central Yharnam suggestions. The fastest way by far is to farm souls (The Forbidden Woods is great for this) and then buy Blood Vials in the Hunter's Dream.

Completely random, but dodging diagonally forward feels like that one viable strategy that so many people dont use in the fights that it is viable for fear of dying.

The giants outside the Cathedral Ward drop 2 each. The two pigs just outside the Gaol lamp drop 2 each as well but I think that lamp becomes unavilable after a certain point in the game.

Central Yarhnam is good as well. Straight down the short cut and kill the two big guys. They also drop 2 each.

This chalice dungeon is complete and utter bullshit. Yeah, let's just cut the player's health in half! I mean, we haven't done this throughout the entire game, but it seems like a good idea now. Fuck this.

Have to admit, I was horrified when I first saw the
snakes
in the forbidden woods. Worse still is Byrgenworth or whatever it's called. Horrific beasts!

It's on another of the Headstones on the stairs (the Unseen Headstone).

Yeah been doing central most of the time anyway. Will give this a try although will be very tempted just to level up with all those echos lol.

I like going through the forbidden forest (using the elevator shortcut, not the one right next to the light). You can get 15-20 vials off enemies and around 35k echoes, which can buy you 40+ vials. Takes about 10 minutes to get through.

Beat FG and CB with Hunters Axe then switched Kirkhammer. Didn't like the hammer as much as the greataxe, but it was a worthy trade off for the Kirkhammer's 1h sword, which I found vastly superior to the short axe.

Even late in the game, the left way from cenral yharnam lamp to Father G. Two brick "giants" who drop 2 viles almost every time (so 4) then down the bridge with the mob and burning ball (mob sometimes drops a vile but most of the time they don't) , then the next brick giant (2) and at last the two beast guys looking at a corner who both drop viles often. Good run can net you 10. At least you get 4-6. There a other spots late game with enemies who drop more, but if you fuck up one move, you already lose health again. With the central yharnam way, enemies don't make only tiny damage if they even hit you.

Is that the one with the
whip?
. Luckily I beat that one on the second try. Pulling off Visceral Attacks is pretty easy for this one, and I kept an eye out for combos and see which attacks have a slow recovery animation that you can use as an opening.

No sir. You get caught by the air attack sometimes, but that is the only pseudorandom thing about the fight.

So I'm still in the first part (I think). Who is supposed to be the first boss?

I heard it is supposed to be the Cleric Beast yet the first boss I have been fighting, is this hunter looking guy with a sword and shotgun that morphs to a beast once I get him to 1/3 of life. I can almost beat him now. Also the doll came alive after he killed me the first time.

Did I skip a section?
