Dudes with the bags on their shoulders? Seriously no matter what I upgrade, two hits and I'm dead.

R2 attacks on a 1H and gun attacks stagger them, so you can keep spamming R2, shoot a bullet when almost out of stamina, then dash away to regroup. Repeat. If you dash away far enough they do the leaping attack, which is really easy to parry, giving you a free V. Attack. But yea, they are real fuckers.

I threw myself at her for hours and even though I got all her attacks down she still got lucky shots on me D: Beating her made me shout at the TV.

I've approached the fight from many different angles and strategies. She still woops me. I know she's optional but I aint backin down!

These dudes dont give me trouble anymore. If you're a whip user, the transformed R2 attack staggers them with every hit. So I just hang back and R2 him after he whiffs his punch.
My skill stat is my highest and my whip is +4 if that matters

Top 5 hardest bosses for me

Martyr Logarius
Ebrietas, Daughter of The Cosmos
Gehrman, The First Hunter
Rom, The Vacuous Spider
Vicar Amelia

Rom
is the worst mandatory boss. I hate him. I know how to beat him but it's such a chore.
The raining attack is just unfair and you have to kill adds
while watching for it.

ya, it did not work.. man they really should give a person a second chance

I know that feeling. Right before this game came out I dived back into Dark Souls to finish it, and I screwed up on an NPC quest line by not making sure he was sitting at a bonfire before I opened a door.

It was one hell of an introduction to what is considered one of the worst areas in a Souls title.

So far, the only bosses I've had much trouble with have been ML and DBP. Even after figuring out everything I could take advantage of did they still give me a ton of grief through attack spamming and some odd instances. VA took a handful of attempts, but at least she went down fairly easy once I had everything in order for her.

Man The O
ne Reborn is such a weird fight. Can't really get a grasp on weaknesses or just what's happening in general.

Kill casters on the top floor of the arena, I think hits to the tentacle bit on him will stagger him, then you run around and attack his face. Otherwise keep circling him and watch out for that shitty falling body parts spell that gets cast.

Just got to boss #5 I think
witch, and got DP'd!! I got the first one to seriously 1% then the other came and held me while the big thing was eating me out and went from full to dead.

I think I'll get her the 2nd time but so many enemies otw to her.

GAF, which weapon should I upgrade? I currently have:

Saw Cleaver +6 (144+122 Physical ATK)
Ludwig's Holy Blade +6 (160+102 Physical ATK)

The Saw Cleaver still feels a lot stronger to me. Is it worth upgrading the Holy Blade, in the long run, or should I stick with the cleaver?

My stats are VIT 30, END 25, STR 25, SKL 20, BLD 7, ARC 7.

Ending question:
I can just consume the three umbilical cords whenever I get them and that will give me the best ending?

Just got spanked by the big electric thing. Managed to be quite good at the game so far without having to master the gun, but this guy seems impossible with my usual attack-first style.

You can do that? I just assumed that
you couldn't get up there. Well anyway, I just beat him pretty easily. Just ate the fireballs and regained it by hitting him in the middle which stunned him hard then bashing his head a lot.

Yeah, he's weird...I just hit him with my hammer. Sometimes he would collapse so I could hit him some more. *shrug*

That's what I did with my saw spear lol. Felt like I was missing something, but oh well. Prey Slaughtered?

Not sure how the cleaver behaves, but I love the stun locking and thrust attacks of Ludwig's.

Does the
old woman
in the cathedral wards (
the one you save in the beginning of the game
)
kills everyone
later on?

Any tips for the
Shadows of Yarnham
? I keep taking down the one shooting fireballs, then the other two wreck me.

My tactics:

I used Bolt Paper to boost my weapon; Level 6+ Saw Cleaver. I also have the Tontritus up to +6 as well. After buffing my weapon, I run around the arena, hitting each of them until they are at half health. I do this because once one of them is down to under 30% HP, they transform into the second stage, giving them different attacks and stronger forms. I didn't want to fight the transformed versions of them when they were at full health. After all 3 were 50% HP, I took out the fireball thrower first, then the fire breather, then the katana guy, using bolt paper when the previous buff wore off. I was doing fantastic damage, and the whole fight took me less than 5 minutes. I did NOT use lock on while running around, I needed free movement. I would sometimes lock on when I was attacking a guy, but generally I didn't use it
.

Ehh I disagree

All I did was
run in and attack twice, then roll away. Uses magic? Just run around till it stops. Didn't kill one of the small spiders.

Hmm I'm planning to do this later..I don't plan to leave the area so I just need to make sure to send the elevator up before fighting in case I die?
If you want to play it safe I would make sure that I sent the elevator back up and wait until it's all the way up. I'm almost certain part of the reason the bug struck me was because the elevator was going up as I was being summoned to another world. Went I went back to fight the boss I just avoided using the small bell until I won.

However, the most foolproof plan is just to back up your save somewhere (USB preferable.) Then keep attacking the boss until it is dead. This way you will not lose progress if you have to roll back.

For the Byrgenwerth boss
Rom, patience is key. I think he only did his projectiles when I closed in on him after he warped. Once you're relatively close to his pack he doesn't seem to do it. Find an opening through his minions, slash a few times and get out. Get greedy and you're likely going to be ganked. His AoE is easy to read, and you have enough time to get out. Don't lock on.

What I found out is, slash a few times, circle behind them and charge an R2. They will power up and during this they can be R2 charged -> visceral attacked. They're laughable easy once you're leveled enough to kill them during one stagger (which should be 40 or so).

So
vicar amelia left me a pendant that transforms into a gem and it says its more effective against beasts
So my noob doubt is, what are the beasts? only bosses?

I never used the Saw Cleaver but does it scale better will Skill? You have a lot.
I went with the LHB on my first character and got it to +10 and it was beast, the R2 greatsword charge attack is amazing and has a good followup. It really depends on the gems you have in both though as they probably have different gem slots. It's nice to have 2 different weapons so you can try new tactics all the same.

I was having trouble with the bag dudes, but they have one attack that's easy to parry as fuck, I usually wait for them to use it so I can parry it and killed them quickly.

What weapons do you guys use for NG+ and ++ ? I have Blade of Mercy but even if it scale to S on Skill, he just doesn't deal half the dmg of my cleaver... I just don't get scaling. I feel it just doesn't matter. You just need to put + 15% dmg gems and roll with cleaver/tonitrus

Beat all of the chalice dungeons finally. Definitely the most difficult task in any of the souls games that I've faced, some of the bosses were downright cheap and unfair - but it was still a satisfying experience. Wish the loot was better tho.

The wolf thing in the unseen village? He does bolt DMG, I tihnk you can buy a nice set with insight in the dream to help with the resist.

Ludwig's scales with ARC, too, and you have low ARC. Start pumping points into ARC and you'll see a big difference in damage output.

Tearing up a storm in PVP on the N
ightmare
F
rontier
. I'm NG+, getting a mix of matches I think.

Had a couple good fights and some total stomps. People really underestimate just how fast they die once you push the aggression hard.

Seeing lots of weapon variety too, which is really cool.

Hmm, weird. I'd restarted the game after beating V
icar Amelia
because I'm prone to getting about 20 hours into an rpg then doing that, plus I'd done somethings that I wanted to redo. Anyway I've just beaten F
ather Gascoigne
and had taken the left exit from the Cathedral Ward lamp, killed the grey cloak guys patrolling and was scanning the area for items, when
I saw an explosion of blue light. The next thing I know I was hoiked 20 feet into the air, I suddenly had a full frenzy bar and could faintly see the outline of those big spider things from the alpha test.
I never had that happen once during my first game, despite running around that area loads.

I'm looking for advice on possible optional areas I might have missed. I'm clearing them before entering
the hidden village, version 2
.

I have killed:
Rom the spider
Witch of Hemwick
Darkbeast Paarl
Amygdala

And right now I'm just starting
Cainhurst Castle
. I'm level 66.

I feel like I have missed something because there are several trophies I don't have. Only location I can think of, that I haven't explored yet, (outside
the hidden village, version 2
) is the upper level of
lecture building
but I have no idea how to get there.

Any pointers?

Ludwig bored me and I put my chunks in Kirkhammer. Ludwig is probably more useful but I love the hammer. Also scaled better with STR which I have more than Skill and Arc. Wished the range on the hammer itself was a tad better.

Thanks for all the tips on the bag dudes. Much appreciated. Just beat
darkbeast
as my 6th boss. Now I don't know where the hell to go. Don't necessarily need help yet but I feel like I'm one of the few that gets lost so much in this world.

You get there in the main quest

At high levels you do so much damage its basically negligible. You're looking at only a handful of solid hits to kill either way.

Lvl 70 and i can smack someone forever when I'm the invader and they don't go down. It's very noticable how much more it takes for host to go down.
